What Dr.Seuss movie could be done next and not be fucked up?

Obviously the next big Seuss movie will be about green eggs and fucking ham somehow

HOW

Dr. Seuss isn't all that great

That said

>Sneetches
>500 Hats of Bartholomew Cubbins
>If I Ran the Zoo

that said i don't think that any studios are going to be snatching up any Dr. Seuss books again any time soon

Why the fuck is there literally no good porn of Lorax's mom

Like why

Holy fuck porn artists where do your fucking commitments go to?

what did he mean by this

Who is that?

Grinch is already confirmed for the chopping block... Yes, I'm being serious. And yes, It'll also be made by Minions studios.

>that said: even so (introducing a concessive statement)

It made me cringe

Lorax was shit.
Horton only really fucked up once with the terrible anime sequence. Everything else kept the themes of the original book and cartoon pretty close.

Lorax went full retard and invented a whole new villain so the Onceler could be less guilty and changed the ending of the book and cartoon so it'd be less bleak.

Simultaneously the HOW BAD ME BE song is a far crappier version of a far better far more damning version of the song that might have saved the movie from mediocrity.

I'd personally love a movie of Oh The Places You'll Go. It's open ended enough they could come up with any dumb plot based around it without ruining it.

It was a very bland forgettable film that was only ever relevant for a brief moment because for some god damn reason the Oncler was a fujobait flavor of the month.

You think it'll make the Jim Carry one look good?

Definitely. There's not a doubt in my mind.

But they've already done a grinch reboot.

that's pretty weird. i always thought everybody considered the jim carrey version the definitive adaptation

No way, it's only been thre-

Jesus christ, you're right. I can't believe I started that Lorax fanfiction four years ago and haven't finished it. I wonder if I ever will.

I hope someone's curious about it, because I had to leave before someone asked about it in the last thread, and when I got back it'd archived.

If you were ranting about how the movie, its fandom, and your past obsession with them just piss you off these days, I was the one who was curious about your experiences.

What fanfic?

I'm a bit of a musical nut. I also really like cartoons. Cartoons and musicals are my two favorite kinds of entertainment. Many of my favorite musicals are about the moral gray or the corruption of seemingly nice people. I also grew up with Dr. Seuss. The Lorax was a mediocre movie, but I loved the musical numbers and all of the Lorax/Once-Ler scenes. I know a lot of people didn't like the decision to give the Once-Ler a face, but I think that the particular face they gave him communicates the same message of the book. Making the Once-Ler faceless was a say of saying "this could be anyone, even you." Making him a generic, likeable everyman got across the same idea in a way that made more sense for a feature film. And until the very last scene of the movie, it was strongly implied (or at least, I inferred) that the Once-Ler we see in the flashbacks isn't actually the Once-Ler, but rather, how Ted imagines the Once-Ler, since both Ted and the Once-Ler have pretty damn similar character designs.

I felt like they cut off the Lorax portion of the movie halfway, and the Thneedville portion of the movie, aside from the musical numbers, was a lot of unnecessary bullshit. So I walked out of the movie thinking I wanted to do a spec script based on the movie that tried to improve it. I got a friend involved, and we.. never finished it. We have a few drafts of an unfinished screenplay, but nothing finished. He no longer wants to work on it, but I want to finish it eventually, but I've developed a weird sort of performance anxiety that's made it hard for me to express myself in any form, even if I'm writing fanfiction of a children's cartoon.

Anyway, when I got into the fandom in 2012, I loved that Tumblr was obsessing over the one aspect of the movie I really liked. Most of them were obsessing over it for a different reason than me, and that reason was their libido. I'm a straight man who doesn't feel any attraction to this par(1/2)

God help us.

They're gonna turn Max into a Minion aren't they? Or a Minion like creature.

(2/2)particular cartoon character, so it was a weird fit for me. I also didn't like how little interest there was from the fandom in finding an earlier version of the movie. I have early screenplay drafts of Scooby-Doo, Spider-Man, The LEGO Movie, Little Shop of Horrors, Holes, and The Gremlins, so they aren't always lost. And I know there was an earlier, better version of The Lorax, because of Biggering. The song's lyrics were written by the same team that wrote the screenplay, so this wasn't a case of someone writing a song for a project, then being told it doesn't fit. This was a case of a creative team making one version of a movie, then deciding it isn't marketable enough. (Did you know Gremlins was going to be an R-rated, pure horror film at one point? Obviously, I'm glad they changed it, but that doesn't apply to The Lorax.) The askblog stuff didn't really interest me, but I liked all the creativity that came out of it.

Really, I'm just disillusioned with Tumblr in general. I'm a conservative, so my worldview naturally clashes with those of the people who use that site. I made two friends from my time in the Once-Ler fandom, one of whom I no longer talk to and the other of whom I'm on the verge of no longer talking to.

Sorry if this is really rambly, it's late (well, early) and I don't even remember what I said last time that made people interested, I just remember coming back to a few people saying "tell us more," and I was irritated that I couldn't.

Thanks for explaining. I was wondering if it was some kind of fetish fanfic and I was assuming it was probably Oncest, but sounds like I was wrong.
At least the premise sounds better than I expected. If it's written by a guy who feels passionately about story/characterizations, it has more promise than an average fanfic where the whole point is doing shipping, wish-fulfillment of smutty fantasies, and shit like that.

Thanks.

Yeah, I'm not someone who's into shipping/wish fulfillment type stuff. That would probably be good practice for me, though.

I wanna see blatantly racist Sneetches.

The only good part of that movie was the super catchy "How Bad Can I Be?" song.

I can see the sneeches be a parody of the bloods and crips with all the black stereotypes you can imagine.

The movie undermines the intent of the book by having EVERYTHING go back to the way it was before Onceler deforested the place, and also makes the initial quest of the main character seem a bit more shallow since he's doing it more out of an attempt to impress a girl he likes rather than satiate his own curiosity and needs.

Honestly, it would have been just fine if he/the town learned about the Lorax's story, turned on the asshole who was shilling them clean air in an attempt to keep the same thing from happening to themselves, and end the movie on the same hopeful note as the story rather than magically restoring the environment without so much as a struggle.

Mostly crap
Voice acting was good though, and as much as I want to hate it I enjoyed that "How Bad Could One Guy Be"

The Jim Carey one already is good.

They should make a movie about Oh Oh The Places You'll Go
And make it like that recent Ben Stiller flick about traveling the world.

The Onceler can go fuck himself.

Sup Forums hates this interpretation, and tumblr would be pleased if he did just that.

That's fascinating. So you haven't found anyone capable of helping you in all this time?

No, the definitive adaptation was Chuck Jones' cartoon version, with Boris Karloff's narration and Thurl Ravenscroft's singing.
