It destroys protectionism, which means any country or state which relied on this to keep local industries afloat will lose all that production and all the jobs related to it along the supply chain.

It will make it even more beneficial and easy for very large corporations to send all the production to member states with the lowest minimum wages and least worker protection laws. While still keeping it essentially impossible for all small and medium businesses to do so.

It was crafted by and for the very large businesses to destroy as much of the small and medium business competition they had, just like every other free trade deal. It will also strip away a fuck ton of consumer protection and consumer rights. As said, say goodbye to privacy, piracy, fair use, or whatever else.

Anti-China union by Obongo and Shillary, should be destroyed

save us mr trump!

>anti-china

Having the country that steals billions in intellectual property from us each year in high regards.

How fucking stupid are you?

He is our last hope. All my friends ask me why I want the Americans to elect Trump because "He's so racist and dumb". But when I explain how hard TPP will shaft Canada, and Quebec especially, and that Trump is the only remaining candidate opposed to it, they quickly sing a different song.

Even the staunches of leftist cuck hasn't been able to go against my arguments. Mostly because they're all vegetarians and pro-animal rights and the TPP will completely annihilate the small-scale local poultry and dairy industries Quebec has had for hundreds of years, turning it into American style mega forms pumping out antibiotic laced torture milk.

It will also force Quebec to sell off Hydro Quebec which will basically ruin us financially completely.

As I told some of my friends this is something I'd expect a supervillain out of a spy movie to do.

Literally the only reason I give a shit about this presidential election is because Trump might be the one to shoot down TPP (also why I would've taken Bernie over Hillary).

End of humanity as we know it. The planet will be one big bucket of liquid shit. Unless the russians rebuild the iron curtain.

Cousin of the literal devil that is TTIP

Trump really needs to push his anti TPP message more. It resonates well. It is probably one of the greater threats we are currently facing.

Pure evil

It's not a free trade agreement, it's a "free trade" agreement. We're still not going to be able to sell our milk in Canada once it passes but they get to come here and sell whatever the fuck it is they produce that's a global commodity. Maple Syrup? Fuck if I know.

Plus there's a lot of dodgy shit about international courts with no due process that can sue the state, tighter copyright laws, extending medical patents, shit that in general just undermines state sovereignty in typical crypto-kike globalist fashion.

Free trade = good (especially if you're a trading nation like we are).
TPP = not free trade, but rigged trade, and implementing laws that subvert national sovereignty.

NAFTA beefed up on drugs.

>Free trade = good

Free trade is only good if the trading nations share similar values and standards. It is something that should happen organically, but be forced by these agreements.

It's OK when it's between first world nations of the west because they're all mostly equal. But when you start mixing in third world shitholes, they become horrible travesties.

If NAFTA had been USA and Canada only, it would have been much better. Maybe not for the big corps that sent all the production down to Mexico, but for consumers and workers as a whole, it would have been.

Wew, how long have you been following US elections? Two wings of the same bird since Bush Sr. CIA agent was installed in 89! Trump is a fake candidate and like Ron Paul, all of his campaign contributions are being data mined for intelligence by DHS. TPP is a done deal, this is the part where they sell it with controlled debates full of shills and false opposition. Shit, social engineering is a science now.

>criticize mncs for free trade
>support protectionism

I hope you realize how hypocritical you are.

You know those dystopean sci-fi flics?
This is how they start

Treaties are the natural/organic way of facilitating free trade.
Also fuck you CETA and TTIP are a mistake

>>support protectionism

I support protectionism for self sufficiency. A country should never completely out source its food production. Nor its energy or steel.

It's much better to have protectionist policies in place if it allows you to get local foodstuffs. No exception.

its meant to isolate china from trade by taking away their partners

they shoudl have never let china trade from the start

now they are a larger economy than the usa

its too late to stop them now

Exactly, look at history! The protectionist nations thrived while free traders slowly declined. Trade with first world nations is fine though.

You do realise that when companies go to third world shitholes and pay them crappy wages, it means cheaper goods for you back home, right?

The cost is you need to find new jobs in a more modern market instead of clinging onto the old jobs that you used to work. What do you think happened to all the horse breeders after Henry Ford invented the car? They had to find new jobs. They didn't get subsidies by the government and the government didn't prevent Henry Ford from selling his product.

That's fine, but I hope you realize the hypocrisy of criticizing mncs for protecting themselves while simultaneously supporting domestic industry protectionism.

Mncs exist because not all countries can be self sufficient. International trade is necessary unless you would rather support imperialism.

>they shoudl have never let china trade from the start

LOL we did a lot more than that. We sent more than half of our total production over seas, and the ratio has been ever increasing. Production is the direct creation of wealth, while services (which is what most of our industry is now) is just the movement of wealth.

Country level monopoly. Your farmers suck. Our farmers are good. That's why your farmers don't want to compete with ours. If we could sell our dairy on your market, not only would you have better dairy, Canadian farmers would be forced to git gud in order to compete, and prices would be cheaper due to more farmers competing for your money.

SO THIS IS ABOUT CHINA!
This whole time...
Trump wants to tax the fuck out of the Chineses, doesn't he?

>it means cheaper goods for you back home, right?

It also means stagnating wages. No one wins other than the companies big enough to send their production over seas.

>cheaper goods

This is not even true. Most of the time now it just means a bigger profit margin. Seriously, compare the like-to-like prices of made in china with made in the USA.

>supporting domestic industry protectionism.

Like I said, it doesn't have to be all or nothing. You can have free trade, but not if it kills certain "critical" local production which your legitimacy as a nation rests on.

But if most consumers were smart, they would ALWAYS favor the closest geographical production source for any goods they buy. Even if the price is higher, you're much more likely to see the money you spend locally make its way back to you than the money you send over seas.

Quality posts.

This is false. Our local farms are "inefficient" because they are all small scale and pasture raised. But this has a great positive impact on the quality of the dairy (we have world class, milk, cheese and yogurts here) but also on the quality of life of the animals themselves. Essentially, all the dairy you buy in Quebec would be considered bio and humane in the USA.

> the cost is

Debtors prison used to be a thing that you could be thrown into. "The cost" of not paying debts, made in bad deals, was imprisonment. One can always *say* that two things (anything) are exchangeable based on some cost-calculating / goods-relating function, but merely making it so in speech does not make it necessary or even possible in deed. "Hey just trade a job you know and appreciate, which you work with humility and goodness, for uncertainty and cheaper electronics." Are you so fucking retarded that you can't see your argument is terrible? That it attains generality and a basis in principle at the cost of the truth? Manufacturing economies in the US still have not recovered from NAFTA. But boy oh boy do all those miserable blue-collar works in Warren, MI really love their 4K TVs and the limitless array of varieties of dildos now available to them.

Some costs are too high to be born. kys and relieve us of your shitty blind economic determinism.

Again, that's totally fine. I'm just saying it's hypocritical to criticize the methodology of protectionism while simultaneously advocating it for yourself.

The drastic potential market increase from the TPP could more than double this current value. Are you really willing to destroy your land, the quality of your dairy, and the quality of life for the cattle, as well as destroying the dairy industry of all the partner countries, all for more money?

its bad

there you go OP glad i could help

The purpose of TPP is to protect those nations involved in global market place. It's intended to lift poorer nations into the global market competing with richer nations.

It does so by making the richer nations work as cheaply as the poorest nation. The protect bit is about availability to the market. All the other nations in the agreement slow down until the slowest nation catches up. It also means that rights for a product go to the nation that needs it the most. The incentive between nations is the price fixing they can negotiate between themselves.

TL;DR it's basically a trust between the countries over manufacturing driven by the slowest or poorest or most in need.

oh god, that's awful

>TL;DR it's basically a trust between the countries over manufacturing driven by the slowest or poorest or most in need.

So entire generations of westerners are expected to give up quality of life and any hope of societal advancement so that poor countries can catch up and never pay us back for this?

Why?

>equality

TPP could be good in the same way that the coal and iron thing in europe was good, more economic interdependence vaporizes the odds of an actual world war. From that angle, I love it. It would allow people to do business in any of the signatory countries willy nilly and result in so much economic sexing that you couldn't attack a country without accidentally shooting your own foot off.

However, it also features a lot of "Wtf" regulations and copyright laws that serve no real purpose than to entrench extremely powerful multinational corporations and even gives those multi-nats a way to bankrupt a government over policy disagreements. That's political power on par with a government in the hands of an official who was not elected. It creates the groundwork for a global plutocracy. Inb4 Shinra Corp/Weyland-Yutani et cetera.

So fuck that. If I have to pick between one world plutocratic government and mad max land I'll take mad max land.

Another issue-as I see it-is that it links unequal economies which, seeing as I'm not rich as hell and thus don't have the capital to exploit it, is bad for me. So I don't like it for that reason as well. Hesitant to mention this because if I suddenly HAD the capital to exploit it, I'd do a 180 on this part.

You're not supposed to be allowed internet.

Fuck the TPP its cucking up my country

What effects has the TPP had so far?

It gives more control to american corporations over everything in all the countries that are part of the partnership.

Japan has a law that x chemical component can't be in any medicine? Well fuck you, american pharmaceutical corporation will sue the goverment of Japan to abolish that law. Australia doesn't allow foreign firms to buy more than 50% of australian based companies? Well fuck that, I'm american corporation, I can do the fuck I want with your country!

Everybody loses except the big corporation based in US, that includes american citizens. Cosplay? Criminal offense. Fanart? Criminal offense. Bad review of a product? Criminal offese.

What good effects will it give us as average nee zealanders

None really, but I'm curious to know if it's had any effects yet.

Your king nigger has spent the last half of the year shilling it to us

I think im not confident, it might cuck the farmers that have already been fucked
