The sphere of influence was clearly laid out - Greece belonged to the British. The soviets provided no support to the left-wing faction during the civil war.
The only ones to help the commies were the Yugos, but not in a major way. The British - who also organized and ran the resistance in WW2 - did intervene in a major way together with the Americans. His was widely reported as the owner of a ship caught smuggling 2 tons of cocaine, but he was never formally charged. After like 8 of the people involved in the case were murdered while in custody, all the defendants got off very lightly.
