The horrible thing is that stuff like this is normal now.
Other things that they have done:
>become the first US college to have a Hindu priest as chaplain
>failed/refuse to amend its governing documents and practices to meet the Vatican's standards
>hiring professors without checking to see if they meet the necessary Vatican requirements (example of what this leads to: instances where the required Problem of God class for all students is mismanaged, with a liberal professor peddling mysticism, Buddhism, etc. under the pretense of religious discussion instead of tackling what the class is supposed to be about; debating the existence of God)
Etc etc etc. There's a shit ton of things like this.
You want to know how bad it's gotten? In last year's election for Student Association president, the runner-up candidates were LITERALLY chicken sandwiches served by the nearby grill place that caters to students. That ticket got 30% of the vote.
This is why I support the Father King Society and want the Vatican to strip the university of the right to call itself Catholic. The administration under the current president has totally sold out and has basically sacrificed all pride and tradition in exchange for being a sort of wannabe secular Ivy League college, but with the veneer of being "Catholic" and "Jesuit".

American, it's just got a job in Serbia right after college. Go right into the domestic job market or grad school after graduating? Common. Go live/work for two years or so in a foreign country, particularly one regarded by Americans as a backwater and/or "different"? You're suddenly a much more interesting job candidate for whatever you do, especially if it's politics/foreign service related.
That's the funny thing I noticed about Georgetown and all the other top-tier colleges: no matter how much they peddle the equality and diversity line, deep down they're all prime examples of social darwinism. There is a permanent mania to over-preform and advance. Half of the students are in counseling because they can't deal with the pressure, though they'd hardly admit it. They will fight each other over the officer positions of student associations/clubs, prestigious internships, and such. It's insane. You go to a coffee networking session event held by one of the investment banks (Goldman Sachs and Credit Suisse favor Georgetown due to large alumni contingent, for example) and it's practically flooded by students (overwhelmingly white and asian males) trying to get 5 minutes so they can talk to an alumnus and maybe score his business card.
The ongoing joke I make is that the students at Georgetown say they want to be like the president from the West Wing, but in reality they all behave like wannabe Frank Underwoods.
Ironically, they've been marginalized on campus. They used to run the school. In a sense, the Jesuits WERE Georgetown. Now they rarely leave their residence except for mass, teaching a class, or some other event.
They've been consumed by the creature they unleashed.
