Denmark banned treatment from anywhere else but the official trans doctors. Seems to be a common theme to pretend to be progressive outwards with symbolic policies that do nothing, while keeping and supporting extremely transphobic policies in areas that matter. That way you can get both praise for being progressive internationally, and get enjoyment from making the lives of trans people as awful as possible.
Norway does the same thing. We recently implementes a progressive system to change our legal gender, but where it actually matters, in sex change, we have possibly the worst system in the civilized world, our trans clinic seems to be run by terfs or something and the people in charge of helping trans people HATE people who are trans and try their best to ruin as many lives as possible.

I dont think its legally/officially defined as a mental illness anywhere in the western world desu.
Sure it's unofficially considered a mental illness by many, but no one administration/institute has the guts to label them so in fear of a backlash.
So basically this means jackshit.
It's only a move to make sure that they cant get benefits based on problems they may encounter with their transition and eventual rejection by society.
