If you want to spread leaks around, you first do it by dropping it off on the internet somewhere/somehow. Use burner phones, use VPN's through coffee shop wifi from outside the shop where cameras can't see you, send the full contents of the data to wikileaks, post about the contents of the data (sans proof) on websites like Sup Forums so people can re-investigate the issue if you end up dead and all the data disappears.
If it's something incredibly damaging to the US politically (and this includes economic damage - corporations basically run America now), you'll want to leave the country and seek asylum outside the US.
These things should all be done without giving ANY warning to ANYONE that you're going to leak something. Telling a coworker or a friend is a good way to end up suiciding.
