Marx and his predictions were just a few centuries too early. I believe that the inevitable end result of human advances is a system similar to what Marx envisioned as a "Communist" system. But that word has forever been soiled by the nutcases of the twentieth century.

No, A "Communist" society (As described as a moneyless, stateless, classless society, where the means of production are collectively owned) is inevitable due to the rise of automation and machines in the workplace. When Robots (for lack of a better term, Automatons is probably better) take over virtually all jobs currently under worked by man ( the process has already begun. Here in Australia, a few decades ago, there were literally Thousands to tens of thousands of workers on the production lines of General Motors. Nowadays, what is there? A couple of hundred? Machines replaced all of that labour.) and the wealthy will own everything/ all the automatons who do all of the work. The end result is one of two scenarios: a). The ownership class (the bourgeoisie for all intents and purposes) hands over power of the automatons to a collective form of management, thus removing class or b). The ownership class refuses to hand over power and the jobless class ( the new proletariat, for all intents and purposes) seizes control through revolution.

As the technology of automation and other resource-collection technologies advances, certain items will become worthless, as their super abundance means that everyone can have as much as they want, within reason ( a Post-scarcity system is created), thus money is becoming slowly worthless for most goods (there will always be some form of capital for some exotic things)

Over time, the state withers away as it is no longer needed, as the automation systems will be so advanced as to become perfect in their operations (this obviously won't have for decades/centuries after control is handed over to the jobless class)
