First of all, you probably believe that he actually died, don't you?

That scene in Logan Lucky made me cry

he was pretty based. made a career out of country ballads and used the proceeds to build a mountain base with a huge gasoline reservoir for when the shit was gonna come down.

I can't say I've noticed this trend.

Anyway, John Denver thread.

Because gen xers alternate between identifying with him sincerely and ironically

probably hipsters "rediscovering" their grandparents' record collection

10/10 song, loved since i was 5 years old

This is probably a factor.

Daily reminder john Denver was a drunk that beat his wife

Crashing this plane...with no survivors!

Okja too

Oldfag here...my mother played lots of John Denver albums when I was growing up. Although Denver's lyrics did tend to err on the sappy side, his melodies were god-tier and I've often considered it a damned shame that his name is virtually never brought up when music legends are discussed. He simply lacked the street cred that seemed so effortless for the sort of artists that are spoken of in loftier terms.

Same is kind of true of Neil Diamond--at least his older stuff from the early 70s. Once he went full pop, though ("Turn On Your Heartlight"), he became irredeemable. Pity.

Anyway, here's one of my favorite Denver tunes:

figures Sup Forums would have a John Denver thread and not post his best song

the wheel's come back around, it always does

I gained mad respect for him when I heard about him throwing his dick down on Congress.

I'm curious... how do you feel about pre-Saturday Night Fever Bee Gees?

I'm ashamed to admit that I'm only really familiar with their SNF tunes (which I love, BTW).

I prefer Glen Campbell personally.
