Bush and Trump are literally best friends with the Saudis you retarded americlap.

This is how the most powerful country in the world cucks itself. Burgers are actively trained from birth to cheer against themselves.

so where was the fish?

ITT: Rump Roasted Redcoats

> american 'culture'

There's good and bad from both. Monty Python is brilliant though, you can't take one isolated sketch as the litmus for the entire show. Not that that's even a bad sketch.

I know that this is a meme bait thread, but if you dislike the ministry of silly walks, you're dead inside.

this. from stand up """comedy"" to late night """shows""", american humor is pure cancer. there are VERY few exceptions like arrested development, but ofc those get cancelled early since americunts have no sense of humor

American humour:

>Empowered blonde, big titted woman belittles man in apartment
>obvious joke, spend far too long on the silent reaction of the recipient
>Studio audience roar for 15 minutes, a couple spontaneously combusting from mirth
>man shoots the woman then massacres the studio audience in gunfire
>escapes on freeway chased by cops and helicopters and news crews
>farts as he's driving
>everyone watching on TV roars with laughter
>crashes into Black lives matter protest
>loses control
>Hits ramp
>flips
>Salutes, an american flag waving in the background via obvious CGI
>crashes into twin towers
>OHTHEHUMANITY
>Voice over: 'I guess this was the one time that Brian didn't handle rejection very well.'
>Wins an award, renewed for 6 more seasons and ran into the ground until it's a shell of its original concept

im just one person; but napolean dynamite is my least favorite movie ive ever seen. its the only movie ive ever fallen asleep during

i dare one of you britbongs to post the same things on twitter as you do on Sup Forums and see how fast that lands you in jail. face it, you are so unbelievably cucked by your government at this point there's no comparison

No-one had ever heard of John Oliver. Then he went to the US and got popular because Americans share his 'humour'

Who's your favourite American comedian?

For me it's Brendan Shaub.

Young sheldon is a drama.

I don't know why but I love this bit.
The Brits are alright.

Wow, that is a fucking stretch. I hope whoever made that pic didn't hurt himself.

>monty python
This isn't the 70's

monty python was much more influential to british comedy than jeff fucking dunham was to american comedy. Even dane cook was a 10x bigger deal in american comedy.

see

hey alex

American humor has had it great moments.

For example the naked gun will still be the movie that makes me laugh the most

airplane is superior, though

Who gives a fuck, your defence of an american comic was that he's not current -in a thread attacking the entirety of British comedy from a sketch written 40 years ago.

honestly, by now my sense of humor is pretty fucked from years and years of browsing this shithole
I can rarely ever laugh at anything that's not level 15 meta-level inser jokes that me and my close group of friends have established over the years. Mainstream comedies leave me 100% emotionless.
But the other night I watched some old Flying Circus stuff and I was in tears of laughter after 5 minutes. I can't explain it, it's just so great.
But yeah that one sketch, while being iconic for some reason, is pretty weak actually.

>cultural impact doesn't matter

...

Woah comedy genius incoming

USA USA

I feel like you have very poor comprehension skills.

Why would you even bring up cultural impact as a plus point anyway? Truth is that, no matter how dated, Monty Python has had an impact on comedy worldwide and will continue to do so more than any American equivalent, modern or otherwise, will ever do.

Americans can't stop throwing money at this guy

British Production company. Ireland is essentially fucking British anyway. They vote for our PM, they use our NHS and take our jerbs. Also fuck off to I'll be in later to shitpost about Arsecucks losing to Mememouth.

What does this have to do with comedy?

You now realise Bill Bailey is 53.

Holy shit USA BTFO.

This shit again. It's things like this that remind me just how culturally based humor is. I married an American and early on I gave up trying to get her to enjoy the comedy shows I liked growing up, because the culture around comedy in both our countries is completely different.

A lot of posters on here have been right, especially (except for your dogshit rebuttal, which I'll get to) - a lot of humour from the USA is based around rooting for an underdog hero, and whilst they might fail a lot, the crux of American comedy is that in the end, all comes good. Success of some kind is guaranteed, because it reinforces the idea that the underdog (thanks to the magic of freedom and determination) can always succeed, even if they're a bit goofy. Airplane, Superbad, Groundhog Day - most American comedies, whether they're dumb stoner stuff or classics, usually have their hero overcome an obstacle despite their comedic setbacks, and win the day.

British comedy doesn't have that. Arguable, most of the time, it doesn't even have a hero. Whilst American comedy is about success, at its core British comedy is about futility, and the inability of things to change. Looking at how deeply ingrained our ideas of "being where one belongs" and the different levels of society based on class, it's no wonder: whilst the American Dream is social mobility, the British dream is simply that things will get no worse. British humour is, quite often, a celebration that everything is ridiculously, mind-bendingly awful, and there's nothing we can ever hope to do about it. Nothing ever gets better, and quite often the "happy ending" is just that things remain the same, and don't get measurably worse.

Culturally, that's quite difficult for people from places other than a grey, dreary spit of land to understand. American humor is about laughing at the main character, and rooting for them to win. British humor is watching them die inside, then realising you're a fucking joke too.

but I am the underdog

b-but muh freedom

It always makes me laugh whenever an American celebrity comes to the UK on TV and has to ask "oh my god can you guys say that here".

They can't even show arse cracks without pixelation and they think they are some kind of bastion of free speech and tolerance.

no it isnt

What's humorous about all that shite? Burgers are deluded.

Americans are so unaware of the world outside their own country. They literally believe the USA is the only country where freedom truly exists.

they deserved it lmao

I wouldn't say so. British comedy does have the futility and all that jazz, but it does also have rooting for the little guy. Even if the little guy only 'wins' a small victory. Look at Mr Bean, in Mr Bean, he'll often come across a mean person, let's say a man pops the balloon of a kid. Mr Bean will go out of his way to get back at the mean man, doing a hilarious sequence of events. That's one example. In another, Red Dwarf is about life and it's little victories, how Lister solves the problem of the episode to get back to how things were. In The Thick Of It, it's about taking something mundane and boring as politics and making faceless bureaucrats seem like humans (and Yes, Minister/Yes, Prime Minister did the same shit). In On The Busses, it's about getting one over on your moody boss and other whacky events. So on, so forth.

American comedy is not that different to the UK apart from everything is more overt and exaggerated. It isn't subtle. This is largely due to the audience; those 5 min segments they have before a 2-3 min commercial break needs to be worth watching or they're gonna switch to another channel.

This is why shit like IT Crowd didn't work, or Red Dwarf or whatever. I don't know if The Thick Of It or Yes, Prime Minister equivalents got made, it seems like in USA if you do a show about the POTUS it has to be serious.

(((American)))

Veep was The Thick of It equivalent, but it seemed to work pretty well. Ianucci had a big hand in making it though.

jesus christ what an embarrassment. can't wait until china rapes your country

oh, and our "dreary spit of land" has achieved far more than you fat fucks ever have. go clog up your arteries with doritos and mountain dew you fat american fuck

Seinfeld is the greatest comedy program of all time and one cherry-picked mediocre scene doesn't change anything.

little britain is such a retarded gay show
repeting the same joke over and over never got how this shit got popular

>Be Irish
>Have to deal with homo poo in the loo representing you
>Adams and Sinn Fein are pro gay/tranny/abortion/EU fanatic socialists who were using catholics

Hope you guys fix your fucked up shit.

...

I'm British too, you thick fuck. How's reading going?

That's interesting! I'd counter-argue that the victories are way smaller in scale, but then you've kind of gone over that with your whole lack of subtleness thing. Maybe I'm just a bit gloomy

It's a sitcom - situation comedy. And not a funny one.

At least these are made by real brits while you have (((((((american)))))) """"""""television"""”""""

you are straight up brainwashed

Damn your jimmies really got rustled by this thread

Brit here, our comedy is miles better on average but Seinfeld and Curb Your Enthusiasm are 10/10
