Rural Noir

Just finished s1 of True Detective. Any other "rural noir" films/TV to recommend?

Keeper of Lost Causes

The Square (2008)

And are they good?

Yes. First is Norwegian, second is Australian. Interesting settings.

>Australian

Killer Joe's first 15 minutes or so are really good.

>first 15 minutes

Oh. And then?

Fargo
The movie

Oh shit true. I've seen the film, but not the TV show. Are they related? Any good?

Kino

Rashomon

All three seasons are good.

Lone Star

Blood Simple

Any Coen Bros film I think.

Nocturnal animals

season 2 lost my attention because i couldn't take fat damon seriously desu

I just want something exactly like TD season 1 but with a different story and characters.Another religious cult shit, keep the noir atmosphere and with good characters, not some Rust wannabes.

I love me some bayou voodoo cults. Not enough of that shit generally, noir or not.

yeah it just hurts :/

I don't know, I didn't marathon any further

You might like Marshlands / La Isla Minima. It's a shameless rip-off of TD1 and Memories of Murder.

...

How is this noir in any way?I love this film but no.

it has a rural setting, stars McConaughey, plot deals with crime etc but I think it eventually fell flat

I do remember the opening scene being very suspenseful and interest provoking.

In The Heat Of The Night
Murder In Coweta County

It's still really good though.
Would reccomend

>rural noir
it's southern gothic

I foun Kill List extremely similar to the season one of TD in terms of it's narrative and execution, just with the tension turned way up.

La isla mínima.

>it's southern gothic
It's lovecraftian horror
