Do you watch movies from before the 70's?

Do you watch movies from before the 70's?

So do you ignore the first 2/3rds of cinema history?

No, I dont.

This. I watch mostly old movies, and I don't respect anyone who claims to be a movie buff that doesn't.

1950 through 1985 is peak cinema. There is little point even going out of this zone.

Yes. If you don't you're an idiot and I'm not being hyperbolic. There is no reason not to watch older movies.

Just watched the shooting (1966), best jack nicholson flick I've seen

Why was Terry Southern so based?

Friendly reminder

Everyone is dead, you will die one day

You will be nothing but sand in time

Cool hand Luke and 2001 a space odyssey are some of the best movies of all time a lot better than most of today's filth

*completely ruins your films for three decades*

> based
it's 2017 grandpa

No. The acting is to unnatural for me.

CURRENT YEAR

What are you getting at?

Yes

>30s, 40s, 50s, 60s
>70s, 80s, 90s, 00s, 10s
It's just under half of cinema history.

A good question now is what genres are most associated with each decade?
30s - pirate movies
40s - musicals
50s - cowboy movies
60s - war flicks
70s - crime thrillers
80s - sci-fi
90s - action
00s - romcoms
10s - capeshit

>00s - romcoms
>10s - capeshit
How did we go so wrong?

you forgot
20s-german expressionist kino

The thin man is probably the oldest movie I've seen that I actually enjoyed.
I hated last year at marienbad (though is OK for a horror movie) but I really loved nuit et brouillard (even if everything was fake)
I hate every single movie with Belmodo. Italian neorealism and bicycle thieves in particular are horribly overrated.
Rate me.

why wouldn't i?

fuck off degenerate

cape kino is unironically better than all those

Watched Hush Hush... Sweet Charlotte the other day, was good. I liked Baby Jane more but Aldrich was ahead of his time for making 60's horror.

I thought I was weird for not liking tv and movies in general; seems it all died right before I was born. Fuck am I supposed to entertain myself with now that gaming is dead?

>I hated last year at marienbad (though is OK for a horror movie)

weird way of looking at it. to me it is beyond genre.

Golden and silver age Hollywood is great.

I'm really bad at it, but I just downloaded 3 this morning
vertigo
on the waterfront
lawrence of arabia

kind of movies I should've already seen. haven't picked which to watch first (now) yet
