it's good; better than traditional art in my opinion.

Its shit. Only pompous faggot hipster liberals like modern art.

Photography became the standard for reporting stuff, making painting intricate scenes obsolete. People then got weird, since there were no rules. Then, lots of people started freaking out over Jackson Pollock type stuff even though art doesn't affect them in the slightest, and most of the people decrying modern art know virtually nothing about art

Its a money laundering scheme.

Absolute shit

Supremely oven-worthy

Give me the names and numbers.

this + it was used by cia as propaganda to forward capitalism against communism during the cold war

I mean, I like me some good Dali now and again.

...

Modern art is art between 1850 and 1970 and is a range of different styles. After photography made painting obsolete as documenting events painters tried to find something that painting could express that photography could not as easily do.

That's ten times better than OP's image

>there is corruption in the government
>gib proof*

If proof* is not provided does that mean there is no corruption in the government?

I don't know why you guys complain about modern art, nobody has made any modern art in 50 years.

Post modern art on the other hand still is made and is much cooler. [picture related]

It really isn't.

...

degenerate trash propagated by jews

The popeye looks like it's printed, but it's an oil painting. The "baloon animal" is brushed aluminium. The chair and the upside down oversized paper basket is part of the sculpture.

A blanket term thats basically useless to describe anything.

Only the first where good.

its fucking shit m8
theres no creativity or talent if you force people who look at your art to interpret it

that's autumn leaves. If you can't see it then you have no soul.

Outlet for pretentious, self-righteous jagoffs to make themselves feel better with casuistry. Some poor bastards even delude themselves into believing themselves. It's promoted by Jews.
youtu.be/kU0ycpKxttA

It's basically just the propagated degeneration of culture, really no different from this: youtu.be/OzsGmdmhDTI

i dont care for the sculpture and i think the painting would be better if it was just 3 popeyes without the other crap on top of them

Came here to post this link.

Based Lucas

thanks for your hot opinions

youre welcome.

No that would be post-modern art.

'Modern art' as you're using it is about intellectual superiority. Museums and galleries are the main driving force for it's creation and the goys that curate those collections need to prove their value to the rich fucks who want to feel cultural from their endowments. So they stopped funding shit like van gogh where every knob off the street could walk in an appreciate the work. Now, you need to read a critical piece to properly situate a work in it's style and form conventions and make sense of the intentionally thematically disparate elements. It's literally some effete psuedo-intellectuals telling their benefactors about the cultural value of the emperor's clothes.

Pic related: Desidario, a post-modern painter who isn't incomprehensible.

commie faggot

I love excuses to post this image.

It's not modern art, it's JEWISH art.

We need to distinguish between real art and the "art" pushed by the jews.

Then we can focus on killing every jew. The Nazis were right about their "Entartete kunst".

Holyshit we can all be artist!

There is a thing called symbolic art. 70% of modern art is symbolic art, which means it has a message from author.
This where fun starts. For normal art you must know how to draw, sculpt etc. For symbloic art all you need is a message. Like word "God" painted with shit or something similar.

Jackson Pollock. I studied art while in community college, got to meet some fucked up women, do a lot of drugs, and draw and paint some cool shit. Met some cool people, still friends to this day. I recommend cheap art school if you're looking for a part time adventure.

I hated Pollock almost as much as I still hate Warhol, but the man was a genius, let me tell you why. See, when Pollock was doing his thing, everyone was wondering what painting is supposed to be. What's it supposed to do next? Photorealism shit? Back-to-basics god-awful folk art? Just keep doing classical paintings for all eternity?

But Pollock was a giant among men. Pollock had a vision AND an alcohol habit and he set out to make his mark on the world. He created a style that isn't representative of the physical world but about the act of painting itself. He'd go to his barn, lay a canvas on the floor and chuck paint around at it, whipping it with string tied to a stick dipped in paint, hucking it straight out of the can, flinging his paint brush, whatever he felt like. The paintings were an expression of the act of putting paint on a canvas.

And so he rose to fame and retreated to his woodsy house/barn with all the booze he could drink to live out his days with his wife.

i think his work is quite aesthetically pleasing.

Your (You) is far more aesthetic than any painting Pollock ever made. Congrats, you're an artist now!

I had to take an art elective for my degree in CC too. I'm thankful that my teacher was at least genuine enough to admit that Pollock had no greater vision and was probably just in it for the money.

agree to disagree I guess.

Please explain to me how you differentiate postmodern art and modern art.

Modern Art isn't really modern, it's what happened after Art as an institution started to break away from the clergy and monarchy. If I remember right, it runs from after the Renaissance up to like the 60's or so. After that Post Modern art starts popping up.

Modern Art was/is artists who actually know how to paint and shit messing around with theme, texture, content, or whatever. It generally still follows some rules and generally is aesthetically pleasing.

Post Modern is when a bunch of talentless lazy fucks decide the human form is too hard to render realistically or aesthetically and they start attacking Art as an oppressive institution. Post Modernism is basically the faggot insurgency.

I might elaborate in another post, I'm fucking starving, going to make a cheese burger.

Abstract artist here.

I couldn't agree more.

I'v done it as stress relief in a modest form in the past. People (retarded people) praised the shit out of it.
I used to get a lot of compliments on it.

there was a time when someone would start interperating my work as 'Spirit on Canvas' and I had to practically slap their ideas sideways by replying "No, are you retarded? It's paint... on canvas... with no direct perspective to the three dimensions we know as space. There are no solid looking objects. It's literally nothing."
Then there would be others who would say that and i'd fuck with them and say, "No man, I have presented pure soul and passion through the mediums of ink and oil. You couldn't recreate that through infinite passages of time."

Now i don't paint anymore. It's all too much bullshit to deal with. I'v done some realism since, but I instead went into business and am saving up to go into Architecture.

>Redpill me on modern art.
It's not Art, and it's not Modern.

am i supposed to not like this picture
i kind of like it

The thing you are describing is abstract art. Post modernist art usually depicts things realistically but in a narrative that 'alienates' them from their usual symbology and context.

But I want my doggo to become froggo, PRAISE KEK!

>(((modern art)))

It's junk

Is that your art?

...

>depicts things realistically but in a narrative that 'alienates' them from their usual symbology and context.

Best description of socialism I ever heard
