Why didn't you warn me this had so much feels in it?

Why didn't you warn me this had so much feels in it?
I expected a procedural action show and then this scene comes up.
Father. I'm sorry. I failed you ;_;
I'm crying like a bitch in here
Goddammit, muh feels...

You're welcome. Appreciate it while it lasts and then... watch it again! You get so much more out of it. All the foreshadowing and so on.

I never would have thought text on a screen could make me feel so much.

Fuck I miss this show. It was too good for that shitty network

>I never would have thought text on a screen could make me feel so much.
It's 50% good storytelling that has happened before the actual event, you really feel like there is someone alive within the machine and the other 50% is the wonderful acting job done by Emerson. The guy really would have deserved an Emmy for his skills.

>It was too good for that shitty network
Indeed. I feel like seasons 4 and 5 would have been truly and fully amazing without the forced network rule that "we must have our number of the week hurrrdurrrr". Bunch of cunts in CBS.

>you really feel like there is someone alive within the machine
This, it did a really good job of gradually fleshing out the Machine as a character over the seasons, even though it barely interacted with the world and didn't even speak until the very end, it still felt like a person.

There's a lot that this show did really well, but nobody knows. It's like nobody has seen it but a few people.

Seriously. I remember almost hating Emerson for his Ben role in Lost.
Here, he's the uncle I wish I had. You can literally see him having the good feels inside. He's such a good person he even gets played sometimes for it, and even though he didn't always acknowledge his creation for what she is, it looks as real as real parenthood issues.
That fucking scene broke me like a twig, and you can see it in his eyes too.
10/10 feelskino

>It's like nobody has seen it but a few people.
Sucks senpai.
>walk past a sushi joint
>on lunch break with qt3.14
>phone behind counter starts to ring
>nobody else around
>say "maybe we got a number"
>qt just fucking looks at me
feels bad mang.

>Watching shit

Michael Emerson was really good, but nobody ever gives Jim Caviezel any credit, I guess because everything he does is so subtle. But seeing little cracks in his armor like in this whole episode can be so sad.

youtube.com/watch?v=MwHZuzH2JlI

>will you stay with me, just for a little bit?
;_;

>Having such shit taste

I would give credit to all of them if I could. Everyone makes such wonderful jobs. Everyone is likable and deeper than they even should.
But the things that usually get me the most are Harold and the Machine scenes and also Reese's sacrificial hero scenes
>There is no happy ending for people like us

Don't listen to plebs. They come to threads for (You)s and they should leave empty handed

Even Sarah Shahi, who in a cast with Michael Emerson, Jim Caviezel and Amy Acker should be the worst actor out of all of them did an amazing job in S5. She was the big stand out of that season for me. I think that's why I like this show so much though, all the characters were great.

Top show that very few people watched. I'm guessing most just thought it was a CSI clone or something and skipped it, but they ended up a show with really good writing and acting

>nobody ever gives Jim Caviezel any credit
Worse still are the countless plebs complaining about Reese's unflappable nature and his whispering

I like how they had that Dexter thing going on with her. Diagnosed psychopath, but does she have feelings? can she care? and then there are the episodes to prove she can.
I still have one more cannonball to the feels to take... I guess Shaw's gonna get very broken and pissed when that comes...

Like the little Russian girl who made her cry said,
>"It's not that you don't have feelings. It's just like the volume is turned way down, like the sound of an old tape. The voices are there, you just have to listen."

If you haven't gotten to S5 yet, trust me there's more than a few moments of heavy feels in that season, not just the big one you're referring to. It's for all the feels that I love that season, despite some flaws.

They might just be autistic. They need characters to emote wildly and basically announce their emotions like on Game of Thrones or something or else they can't pick up on it. Any kind of subtlety just goes over their heads

I'm still recovering from S4 end, saw a few episodes into 5 to get to the part where the Machine is up and running again.
The feels just keep coming and I can't catch a break in this final road ahead it seems.
A big part of it is the perfect soundtrack though. Both the OST and the specific themes for some moments.

>A big part of it is the perfect soundtrack though. Both the OST and the specific themes for some moments.
The OST is so good, probably the best I've ever heard for a TV show, especially one on network tv. You're in for some good times ahead though, Episode 4 is great. Also

youtube.com/watch?v=J5xo2GY0Gfc

so gud

This show did so much right. especially the girls. How can one show have two best girls? Its unprecedented

>yfw no my friend is going to kill you, I'm just gonna watch

S5 opens with The Kills' No Wow. Fucking ace choice.

Undisputed best boy

Not gonna lie here. Started watching for Amy. But then, it delivered. I may have eyes only for her, but Shaw is pretty damn cute too.
I even bought into their relationship. For all the political crap going on these days, this is one example of SJWing done right. It's not blatant, it's not insulting you in the face. It's just there and it looks cute.

I don't know how people like this show, I couldn't make it past the lameass pilot

Scarface was really fucking good too and looked a shitload like mads

Also there is that nice S&M part in their relationship.

>Not gonna lie here. Started watching for Amy.
I know you did, Amybro.
But I agree with you, it's refreshing how there was no political agenda pushing with that relationship. The only reason it even happened was because they had such great chemistry. I'm pretty sure the whole idea to make it into a romantic relationship was basically Amy's idea. I think she's said something like "Is this a sexual thing? It feels like a sexual thing, I'm gonna play it as a sexual thing" for the scene where she nearly tortures Shaw with an iron. I guess the writers liked it so much they wrote it into their characters.

That all started with Amy's acting choices.

The writers just ran with it.

Welcome my son, welcome to the machine

Best anti-hero ever. I legit teared up when he bought it.

Oh my...
this sounds way more lewd than it should

S-stop... not again dammit!
T_T

...

It's impossible not to love Elias, he's just so friendly and polite, even when he's pointing a gun at somebody. RIP Elias, you truly were the best boy.

She was just channeling Root, and we know Root is very lewd. Her mind is always in the gutter. Especially when Shaw is involved.

If Then Else is the best 42 minutes of cyberpunk I've ever seen.

Elias was supposed to be a bad guy but ever since he avenged Carter I knew he was already part of the crew.

It's strange though, that the
most emotional scenes for me are the machine ones. You never see a human Machine, but it's a character and you know she cares for Harold and the others... 2% chance of survival, and she goes for it because it's better than the alternatives

Now I'm wishing they did have a happy lewd ending...

Is it possible that the whole final chain of events is a simulation, or is it just fanmade videos?

Agreed, an absolutely fantastic episode.

Its the only implementation of the "time loop" cliche I've ever seen work really well.

That last scene, where she keeps adding more decimal places to her probability analysis was absolutely heartbreaking.

Too bad the only thing most people know about it is a 30 second webm with poor gun CGI. I hate that webm so much, it's given so many people the wrong impression of Person of Interest.

>Is it possible that the whole final chain of events is a simulation, or is it just fanmade videos?
I don't think so. That would just cheapen everything that happened, for it to have all just been a simulation. That kind of ending never works.

What was samaritans endgame?!

to save and guide humanity

A less free, but better world.

Plebs gonna pleb
I just keep trying to find narrative loopholes where Root doesn't die and gets the comfy happy life with Shaw. But if the intention is to truly mark her as "ascended" it should be OK too... I'll just have to get there and see.
Claire is that you?

Was harold right to deploy ice-9? Seems like it was alot of chaos and death, which is why they were fighting samaritan in the first place?

Just finished the show, its fantastic btw. Greer is excellent, i was surprised to learn hes the uncle of Johnathon Nolan

Fucking Claire.

...I actually wanted to see more of her though, I wanted to see her maybe come to doubt Samaritan and help the team in the end. Maybe if we'd gotten a full season we might have.

Sacrifices had to be made, Samaritan couldn't be allowed to continue. It was too much of a threat to humanity.

I thought she was to be Samaritan's Root.
But it was Martina instead. And god, what a bitch she was...

Claire might have been more like a Root-In-Training, but she could never be anywhere near as cool. There can only be one Root.

youtube.com/watch?v=vioJRgGHguk

If anything though I got the impression that she might have lost a little bit of faith or confidence in Samaritan at the end of her last appearance though, which I thought meant she might become a mole or something. She definitely didn't seem anywhere near as fanatical or crazy as Martine.

Same “people” complaining about Tom Hardy in Taboo.

Samaritan was right at the end when its talking to Harold, that its inevitable another AI will be created! Luckily the machine survived.. man this show had such a good finale.

I also liked the penultimate episode with Jimmi Simpson and the DC crew working the numbers. Most of the plots got closure except Claire which these anons are already talking about

Love this show.

Emmerson is just off the charts fucking amazing, everything he did in the show was pure gold.

Caviezel played his part perfectly. I know people give him shit, but it suits the cahracter being so softly spoken. When Carter died and Johnny Cash's version of 'Hurt' was on, he was legit menacing and you could see the pain, fucking amazing.

I cant comment on Amy Acker's performance as every time she was on screen I'd only get a glimpse before my eyes would close in an earth shattering orgasm.

Shahi was amazing, I loved that while her 'emotions were on low volume' that when she finally cared about someone she'd move heaven and earth for them. I also loved the way shaw ate on the show, just massacring her food, it was so hot and looked so freeing for Shahi too.

Enrico Colantoni however stole the show as Elias. I know hes a bad guy, a real bad guy, I know he's not meant to be loved and adored, but fucking hell he was just so good, he made Elias so likable.

Also, Samaritan's UI is fucking beautiful. I made my linux desktop look like it. Each program when you alt-tab in a box that scrolls up, it's amazing.

Got that impression too (assuming I already saw her last appearance). Samaritan was in a way always second to the Machine, trying to do the same she did, but different. Stands right to think it can't get a proper Root. Only tries to.
Which reminds me of that scene where they talked. The Machine's avatar was Root as she always was intended to be, and Samaritan was an edgy young boy. That couldn't be more obvious.
btw, tfw no AI gf

The best part is Root is so open about it, flirting, kinda annoying Shaw with it, and Shaw is annoyed with it, but kind of wants it too.

Shaw's annoyance with Root is kind of charming, as Root is so persistent with it, without being a creep.

>Samaritan's UI is fucking beautiful
Glad to see I'm not the only one who thinks that. I have to many windows-intended programs to use Linux, but I got a thing called rainmeter, and a Samaritan theme. just struggled a bit to get the proper background

So you know, that rainmeter depending on the site you get it from has a keylogger, as I have windows on one drive and linux on another, just select drive at boot.

Linux for browsing / downloading / pentesting etc, Windows for gaming.

Episode was called Razgavor, I think.

I agree with all of this, but especially
>Caviezel played his part perfectly. I know people give him shit, but it suits the cahracter being so softly spoken. When Carter died and Johnny Cash's version of 'Hurt' was on, he was legit menacing and you could see the pain, fucking amazing.
He managed to be pitiful and terrifying at the same time. He sold it so well. Seriously menacing.

Cant believe you made no mention of /ourguy/ Fusco, though.

If I'm being honest the only time I enjoyed Fusco is when he said 'She saved me, she saved me from myself and I won't let you undo all the good she done' - feels hit me right then as I was watching with my wife, and I've often said to her she saved me from myself, that if it wasn't for her, I wouldn't exist.

>its inevitable another AI will be created!
It is, but with the Machine free and allowed to be proactive instead of just reactive, she would be able to stop another AI like Samaritan from getting out of hand.

Don't mind me, just best use of a song on a show ever coming through : youtube.com/watch?v=hbAUwi4D3Ew

>tree fiddy
>short barrel w/ muzzle brake
>no hearing protection

EEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE

Harold Created Dominic after explaining Pi to his class. Maybe if Harold hadn't explained it, or explained it so well, Dominic might have just be an average banger.

If-Then-Else was easily my favourite episode. When The Machine finally was 'in a rush' and just cut their lines to 'flirting comment' 'annoyed response' 'menacing comment' etc. And the proof that she loved Harold was that she had them pull the art off the wall to protect it.

Who fuscinator here?

Her last appearance is in S4. Guess they couldn't get the actor back for 5, which is too bad. Between her and a few other characters that didn't really have a proper ending, it's making me wish POI got atleast a comic continuation or something, like Angel/Buffy did, even though I'm not a fan of those.

I'd just like to know what became of Claire, and Zoe, and Leon.

Respectfully disagree, this is actually the best. youtube.com/watch?v=C2inNYauU1o

Wait what? I dont remember this

>tfw season 5 with the machine having facial recognition errors

Best scene

Fuck. FUCK!

I didn't want to feel, I never asked for this.

John Reese: [the Machine runs through a simplified mission simulation] Cooly delivered sadistic warning.
Lionel Fusco: Self-deprecating inquiry into the time necessary to infiltrate system.
Root: Funny yet insightful retort.
Harold Finch: Mildly agitated declaration of mission completion.
Harold Finch: [Objective complete] Gentle exhortation to further action.
Root: [Root calls Shaw] Overly affectionate greeting.
Sameen Shaw: Greeting.
Root: Transparent rationale for conversation.
Sameen Shaw: Annoyed attempt to deflect subtext.
Root: Overt come-on.
Sameen Shaw: Mildly embarrassed defensiveness bordering on hostility.
Root: Playfully witty sign-off.

right here

>tfw somewhere within the Machine is a version of the world where everybody is Root
>tfw you will never ever live in that world
What a wonderful world it must be...

Sure. Everyone dies alone. But if you mean something to someone, if you help someone, or love someone. If even a single person remembers you. Then maybe, you never really die at all. [/spoiler[ I'm not crying. You are, you're the one that's crying, not me.
;-;

'Hey glasses, think your tarot cards have gone all wonky'

They should have told him about the machine earlier

Nice! I will consider this.
Fusco has rarely given me the hurt feels but I think he is there to remind them what they fight for. The normal folk. The average guy who does his best and gives everyone hope by just being him. The guy with the joke and the good sense of humor. The optimist. That's when he gives me the feels. When everything goes to shit, he's still there.
Seeing the Machine and how much she cares, even though Harold at first never notices, that's what gets me in every scene, especially the one in the OP. It's the most lovable "robot" I've ever seen, anywhere.

Damn, Root looking kinda THICC in this pose

;_;

More beautiful words have never been uttered on a TV show. I'm still not over that ending, it was so good.

That just describes my idea of heaven

>a world of nothing but smug roots making playful witty comments and flirting with eachother endlessly
It really does sound heavenly tbqh

They should have, with how often he went above and beyond to help them and how often he proved how competent he was, there was no good excuse to keep him in the dark. It only made things more complicated and dangerous for him.

That said when he finally did learn about it and got his yellow box I was so happy. All was right in the world, for atleast the last 5 minutes of an episode.

Ramins music was so good in this but hes so shit with GoT

Before Samaritan came online, no real reason to not tell him once he had proven his loyalty to team machine not HR.

After Samaritan comes online though, if he knew of the machine, Samaritan would have hunter him, his ignorance saved him from SamOps

This. Listening with a Million Ears blows anything on GoT out of the water. I think he's just phoning it in now.

youtube.com/watch?v=Ksgw79s5vE0

I thought they were just gonna do a Carter with him and have him basically deduce it himself which would be within character I think. Then when hes too close to the truth Finch and John just fill in the gaps.

Oh well he's still ourguy and I'm glad that ex-con didnt off him at the end that woulda left a sour taste

Now that's the place I'd like to go someday.

I think the excuse is the usual "they were protecting him"
Notice how his status under Samaritan's gaze is "irrelevant" The minute somebody knew, Samaritan took them out

appbrain com/app/samaritan-person-of-interest/com.dossky.lw.Samaritan

I heard that the quality dips significantly after season 3. Is this true?

Utterly untrue, the 4th and 5th seasons ramp up with some real stakes and the finale is one of the best closing eps of any show Ive seen! Please give it a go

Pleb lies
Unless you are a pleb yourself and prefer to cry because it's no longer a simple procedural
It's noteworthy that it was never intended as a simple procedural, you can see the long term plot developing from day 1

I had the same thought. Especially with how flippantly they'd discuss the Machine and Samaritan and what was really going on around him, and he never asked any questions about it. At one point saying he just "tunes it all out". I think it would have been cool if at some point he revealed he actually was paying attention, and yeah, then they fill in the blanks for him.

Just knowing about Samaritan isn't enough to get targeted for elimination, you have to act on that knowledge or do SOMETHING to tip off Samaritan that you knew something, but Fusco proved time and time again that he was really shrewd and totally capable of lying his way out of things, or flying under the radar if he wanted to. I think he would have been fine.

I honestly can't imagine why anybody would say that. The general consensus seems to be that the show gets better as it goes on.

Not entirely true, it has a few dips that seem worse than previous seasons, but i think thats more to do with high expectations after the quality than it actually being bad.

its true mostly because of how good 2 and 3 was

Damn, Fusco looks like THAT?
He never looked so cute in his entire life
Does that make me gay?
The only reasons I can think of for people talking shit about the final arc are, they're either unworthy plebs, trolls, angry breeds of especially autistic Sup Forumsacks, or they simply preferred when the show was more centered on Reese because well... they were it during that part of the show. Just Harold and Reese and no one else knew. There was no greater threat or scheme back then. Those were simpler times

FUSCO IN WESTWORLD WHEN

Fusco is cute! CUTE!
But no it's 100% straight.

>Just Harold and Reese and no one else knew. There was no greater threat or scheme back then. Those were simpler times
And they were fun times, especially when you go back and watch them again knowing all the terrible things that happen in later seasons, their shenanigans together seem so comfy and the future looks so hopeful.

But anybody who bitches about the show adding more characters and upping the stakes instead of just spending 5 seasons with no overall plot, of just Reese and Finch solving crimes for 100 episodes are literally insane. It got better when it was able to tell the story it wanted to tell.

Samaritan was a game changer for the show, I mean I would happily watch crime of the week with these characters for 100 eps but the overarching plot had real stakes and I was very invested in the machine/samaritan dynamic

hopefully never. westworld blows

Yes, instead of giving us $101, they only gave us $100.

I would too, like I said the early episodes are comfy and a lot of fun, but the show eventually turned into one of if not the best stories ever made about artificial intelligence. Atleast on tv anyway.

Most of the whiners just hate Root and Shaw, especially Shaw, because them becoming regulars on the show meant Reese didn't have as much screentime. The fanbase for PoI has split itself between Reese fans and Shaw/Root fans, and it's retarded.

I could just look at that gif for hours. Why can't my eyes look away?
Honestly it's distracting, even on the show.

Seriously? Im the guy you responded to and I literally finished the show for the first time last week. Shaw and Root were excellent additions, they meshed so well with the main cast it was almost like they were there from the start. Great character development too. Fusco/Shaw scenes are some of the best
