Maybe you should stop watching pleb dogshit all the time
Is it really cinemas fault that anything more than superhero and flavor of the week action/horror movies makes you insecure??

I just fucking wish horror movies would be more subtle with there scares. I tell you what is actually fucking terrifying is when a monster is in the background, not really in focus and isn't the main point of interest in the scene. When you actually see that fucker in the background and no one is paying attention to it you feel this deep sense of dread, like you're the only one that knows this thing is just watching and waiting.

Tell you what's not scary? A CLOWN JUMPING AT ME AND THE SOUND TRACK GOING BOOOOOOOOM.

I just want a horror movie that makes me feel uncomfortable hours after watching it, not something that startles me with some manufactured jump scare.

>good r-rated horror movie makes money
>contrarian complains

Typical.

effective marketing and inflation
avatar made a lot and it was shit

>good
I don't know why passable is now considered good in a lot of spheres. I don't understand why cash grabs are now being touted as an ok thing.

t. Jay Bauman

Yeah that's the reason I love Blair Witch Project, it leaves everything up to your imagination, ignoring the garbage sequel that just came out.

>all the capeshit somehow didn't do it already

I just saw the movie today and I don't remember that shot in the article? Although it might have happened when I went to the restroom, anyone know when that happens?

That's why Michael Myers is the GOAT Slasher/Horror movie killer, he's completely silent and calm and creeps up on his victims and the audience and his theme music is unsettling.

Why the fuck is this site so contrarian
Sup Forums and Sup Forums I fucking swear
Yeah capeshit is terrible despite it making tons of money but this was a decent film

literal children browse these boards

>Universal made their monster movies high budget capeshit knock offs instead of moderate budget horror flicks

>tfw horror-films begin their ascension to big-budget Hollywood film franchises again

I guess it takes a monster, to beat a hero.

When Sup Forums tricked me into going to see a movie in the theater for the first time in 5 years and this was the fucking turd I broke the streak for. I am easy to scare. I can be kept up at night for weeks over subtlety scary things, or even scary imagery. This movie had absolutely fucking nothing except jumpscares. If you told me it was rated PG-13 I would believe you because it felt like every other god damn jumpscare-filled nu-horror movie made for the largest audience apart from like 2 scenes with gore.

>now

Mainstream movies have been creatively bankrupt for more than a decade... pretty much all of the 21st century. They figured out the fireworks formula and have put nothing into storytelling ever since.

>cinema is dead
>biggest box office success for a rated R movie of all time

what? Do you even understand what you're saying?

>Dare criticize the movie I was paid 100 rupees to say was "kino" on Sup Forums? How dare you, contrarian retard!
The movie was a 6/10 and very carefully made/marketed to make as much money as possible while not having any real depth. I would be surprised if a film enthusiast board DIDN'T shit on it.

When I grew up and realized it died in 1977 with Shit Wars

If you're implying it will encourage hollywood to make more R-rated movies, it won't, it will just encourage them to bring back more 20 year old horror movies, just like how everyone thought Deadpool would encourage more R-rated movies, it just encouraged more R-rated super hero movies

IT is going to be the movie equivalent to Dark Souls. It's a good, but not great, piece of entertainment that everyone will treat like its the second coming of Christ because they've been deprived of quality for so long.

haha did you watch the RLM review too?

The combined success of Deadpool, IT, and Logan are going to convince Hollywood to make more R rated movies.

Demon Souls was released 2 years before Dark Souls though

>you can't complain about something popular

I wouldn't even really say it was "good".

I'd really just give it a "strong OK"

They tried, the characters were well acted, the effects were nice, the structure was perfectly intact, and it managed to at least keep me interested.

Are people surprised a horror movie remake released around fall that was highly advertised is doing good?

marvel civil war getting such amazing reviews

>R-rated horror makes lots of money
Cinema already died. If some decent horror flicks get made thanks to this, I'm happy about it.

You should be happy this film is beating capeshit opening weekend

>Is it really cinemas fault that anything more than superhero and flavor of the week action/horror movies makes you insecure??

Well it certainly isn't my fault.

Reasons why film is shit:

>Mandated cast diversity.
>Lack of strong American talent. What's with all the British talent lately? Why can't we get some good old fashioned American talent to play American characters? Some serious producer nonsense is going on.
>Growing foreign box office.
>Hispanic moviegoers now a majority of US ticket sales. Juan is going to spend $50 on a dumb movie like The Emoji Movie that his novia and his ninos can all see together.
>Inability of fresh faces to get a foothold in the industry.
>Left wing stranglehold on content.
>People are now so addicted to their phones, they can't be bothered to detach from them for 2 hours. Phones are probably the primary distribution channel for visual media now. The content has to be packaged into 15-30 min episodes. Great musical scores, special effects, and cinematography take a backseat to infantile scripts.
>Fragmentation of the market into niche audiences does more harm than good in the long run.

Kill yourself. Unironically is preferred.

That's right Jay!

...

>I just want a horror movie that makes me feel uncomfortable hours after watching it, not something that startles me with some manufactured jump scare.

That's called psychological horror, not horror.

>I watch only blockbusters, cinema sucks now!

This. People don't seem to realise that horror has sub genres and they all get lumped in together. There's body horror, slasher, supernatural thriller, sci-fi horror ect ect. Some people will naturally be more scared of some types of horror over others. I shat myself during the Ring but find slasher flicks kinda kitch and funny.

have you tried not watching shit and watching good movies instead?

you don't actually have to watch all of the movies that show up on your youtube and mcdonalds happy meal advertisements.

How about you make a list of your favorite directors and movies and then follow their work?

Are you saying that you've already watched all the good films that have been made so far?

Or will you only watch current American big budget movies because Avengers 6 is so topical.

I dont wathc blockbusters. I hardly go to the movies anymore. Before I saw Dunkirk, I think the last movie I saw was Donald Cried.

When the only movies are remakes, sequels, and rushed adaptations of books.

looks like all that viral marketing they did last year with those clowns chasing people with knives worked

>muh parroted RLM opinion

he is COMPLETELY right

I saw Annabelle creation and the only scary scenes were the ones where the demons presence were implied(like when she went under the stairs and saw the yellow eyes staring at her).

90% of spooks comes from clever visuals not just "ARAAAGHBLAARRRRRGH" into a chase scene.

>that scene in Signs where the alien just casually strut across the bushes

this user its 100% right. Jumpscares are cop outs

I hardly go to the movies anymore. Before I saw Dunkirk, I think the last movie I saw was Donald Cried.

...

Passable is definitely good when we're discussing horror.

>Dark Souls
>good not great

Nigga u dumb? Name 2 games better than dark souls

Fact: anybody who says they don't like jumpscares are scared by them

T-that's not true...

Don't do this to me user...

...

For me, it's the McChicken

>want to watch it
>check a few cam sites the only leak is a russian version.

Guess i'll try again in a week.

Eh, they're boring to me. The key to not giving a shit about jump scares aside from years of desensitization if to enter a semi-zen state where even though you know a jump scare is coming you don't anticipate it or let it build up any tension so when it happens you're not all emotionally charged and ready to be scared.

Best post in the thread desu, people don't believe in nuance anymore.
I'm great against psychological horror but am weak against body horror, I just can't watch it without reeling
IT however just completely disappointed me. There are some movies that combined various aspects of different horror elements but they're so rarey nowadays its a shame.

Cyкa Блять Richie!

Pic related is actual worthwhile horror.

>Made a movie to make money

Man, I had no idea. It's almost like they put money and time into a project and expected to receive money back for the work put into it. Crazy how the world works.

Good is an understatement. It's breaking records, and far exceeding box office estimates. And it was a fine movie too, brings a tear to my eye.

Because It is a PG-13 horror disguised as R rated horror. It's a fun adventure/coming of age film. Kermode compared it to The Goonies and Poltergeist and I agree with him. The kids and Skarsgard's acting are the best parts of the movie.

There had to have been a cut scene where one of Richie's friends says "beep beep" to shut him up.
Pennywise saying that doesn't make sense without the context.

The Conjuring movies do plenty of what you're asking for but you fags still shit on them just because they're popular.

Between Spider-Man, IT, and Wonder Woman, has Sup Forums ever been btfo this hard before?

You'll get to add Spider-Man: Homecoming to that list after the China box office comes in

I just saw this today. I thought that literally everything without Pennywise was good. Every "scary" part was dogshit and ruined the movie for me.

Rate my taste.

It was kind of like the goonies, it was cute I guess. I've noticed a lot of like 80s nostalgia movies in the last couple of years, like there was super 8, tron, both guardians of the galaxy, this, then there's gonna be ready player one.

It made me really sad though. something about the fact that it had a happy ending made me feel like i just wanted to lay down and stare at the wall for hours, like I'll never be a kid again, the girl was cute, blah blah blah just normal feels shit.

also I think one of the points of it was how innocence actually can be sort of maintained even through maturity and the shit of life. and I just don't know if that's true.

It was okay, maybe a decent horror movie but it was not a good horror movie.

this movie was great. fuck off.

I went to see IT today and came to the realization why cinema is dying.

It's not just the constant crap that gets shat out or the cash cows milked until dry that's driving people away from the theater. Nor is it only the rising ticket prices and obscene cost of food or drink once inside. These are contributing factors but ultimately it's the lower class scum, the dregs of humanity who talk to each other at full conversational volume and play around on their mobile devices, who get up for popcorn refills five or six times during a two hour show, and generally act like they're at home in their living room rather than in a public place which emphasizes a certain decorum -- this is the reason people aren't going to the movies much anymore. Why would any sensible person waste $20-30 on going to the movies only to face constant distraction from the animals in the theater with you. Why do these pieces of shit even spend the money to go see a movie if they have no intention of watching it?

I thought IT was ok btw

But IT was the best blockbuster of the year, it deserves to make money. You Disney shills need to chill

You are both retards if you think psychological horror is the only subgenre where you can have something more than 2 hours of spooky loud noises and CGI.

>WAAHH why is a good movie making money this can't happen!

youtu.be/houP7mAjZ0o
ur very late then

mpaa.org/wp-content/uploads/2017/03/MPAA-Theatrical-Market-Statistics-2016_Final-1.pdf

Holy shit will you fuck off? No one wants to watch your awful videos

Meh.

It wasn't so much a horror movie as it was a suspense/drama with comedic elements.

But whatever Hollywood needs to tell itself, I guess.

Chris Dodd should be gassed

this just learn to enjoy something for once in your miserable lives

>going to movies
>paying 15$ to watch something you can watch for free
>paying 6$ for a 12oz soda when you can buy a 2 liter for 1.50$
>paying 12$ for a tub of popcorn when you can buy 3x the amount for 3$
i realized cinema was dead when i learned the value of a dollar

Nice shilling spree my man. You are surely gonna gain a lot of views from spamming your shitty videos on Sup Forums

>crying about shIlling
>actually links the spam catalog of IT threads

your lack of self awareness knows no bounds, mushitti
and thank you IT will

>Dunkirk
Kys

its a good video

does this mean monster movies are back

>paying 15$
Stop going to the movies past 3pm, silly. It's around 8$ before then.

This is fucking stupid. Of course I don't like the feeling of being jolted, that doesn't mean I'm emotionally afraid of it. That's like saying I'm scared of stubbing my toe

The rush after a jumpscare is annoying and it pisses me off more than it frightens me.

How do you bitch about this when TFA, or BVS, or MoS, or any other thing that you shit on does good.

You're a troll and a shill, fuck you. I'm glad IT did great. I hope pt 2 does even better and some fucking jew makes a pt 3 -5 and does a prequel after that.

Fuck you, stupid fuck. Yeah I'm mad. I want pancakes right now... butter on every flap

just wanted to respond saying i feel the same way and have been bottling it up since i saw the film

this happens to me every so often and it's an awful feeling, feels like fucking yesterday i was goofing around in high school and now im a fucking junior in college

i hate time and aging so much friend

>watching movies at the theatre
>not waiting for the dvd/blu ray to come out
>not waiting another 10-15 years for the DVD to show up in the bargain bin at your local wal-mart

ya'll people are paying way too much for entertainment. I spend about 8 dollars a year on movies by just buying old shit that's been marked down and sold for a dollar. sure it's all shit that's at least 10 years old by the time I get around to it, but fuck it a good movie's a good movie. You people are seriously retarded paying for $20+ just to watch a movie.

>or BVS, or MoS, or any other thing that you shit on does good.
hahahaahhhahhaahahahahahahahahahahaahahahahahahahlololololoololololololololololololo

I haven't seen Sup Forums so assblasted about a movie being commercially and critically successful since Wonder Woman.

>t. cuntrarian

any decent torrents out?

The projector scene. It happens for a split second then he inflates to the size of the room

>Everyone who has this extremely popular opinion about horror movies thats been spouted off for years got it from a RLM video uploaded today

You're not special.

i will always check that. blair witch is genius

Cute kid. Who? MmMmMmMmmm

...

Ir jumpscares are horror, then, fapping is making love.
