He there Sup Forumsemics

About a year ago i got the opportunity to right a column at my university newspaper. they had been publishing my OpEds and i told them that i would be writing from a conservative POV. They wanted my shit, and i delivered, or at least i like to think i did. I got 6 or 7 columns in before the end of the semester. Over the winter, there was a bit of a coup and my Section Editor got busted down to Copy Editor. I had a following annd i had riled up a bunch of the on campus factions (LGBTQABCDEFuckingwhatever, African Nationalists, Fems, etc) and readership was up. But my editor was my friend and they did her dirty. so when they told me i'd have to tamp it down and only discuss on campus topics, a flame broiled my new editor and told him to, "enjoy sucking Bernie's cock and arguing over parking rules." So i got shit canned. My editor quit soon after.

You may be asking, "why in fuck are you bothering us with this lame story?" I got the name for my column here on Sup Forums and i said i would come back and post a few of my articles.

So is there any interest?

>Is there any interest
Fuck off, either you have the balls to post it without anonymous peoples' permission and interested people will see it or you're just a pussy beta nu-male who ought to kill himself. Decide now.

post some then

lets see em

Learn grammar and spelling.

Post it up nigger.

Not sure why you're asking us for permission. If you want to show us just do it.

I am considering launching an underground paper to really stick it to the race baiting, SJWs that forced every writer to only discuss on campus bullshit from a lefty perspective.

We would cover any topic that was interesting and i would only accept the best pieces. Anonymous and polished, anyone could contribute. too expensive but i gots 3 more years in this hell hole so we shall see.

The name you guys gave me was:

Wait Wait Hear Me Out

k. brb. faggot

*you guys are going to think it is soft as shit, but believe it or not this shit got mad flack for being "racist" and "offensive".

because i am an attention whore with low self esteem and a very limited tolerance for being ignored.

OK, standby

Pt.01

Donald Trump, if taken at his word, seems like a crazy person. What is more, I have a deep seeded personal enmity towards the man. But not liking a person is not grounds for saying the are useless or ineffectual. The controversial rise of this man over the last decade will be discussed for many years regardless of the outcome of his presidential bid. He has changed the tenor of this election with his bold and often times despicable positions on immigration, national defense, and cultural ideology. He is universally loathed by the political establishment on either side of the aisle. The mainstream press cannot stop attacking him,and over 9000% of internet denizens add to the negative press for this man daily.

And yet his support in the polls defies this facade of discontent, highlighting just how out of touch mainstream media and culture mavens really are with the everyday American. While his word choice borders on appalling, he is actually bringing up taboo topics that no bog standard candidate would ever touch. He is forcing a discussion of what it truly means to be an American. He is exposing the homogeneity of the political options in our country. And if the current Democrat buffet options of Obama Policy continuation and actual Socialism maintains, this crazy person stands an actual chance of becoming the 45th President of the United States of America. Everyone I have spoken to on campus has registered a negative opinion of this candidate ranging from complete distaste to violent opposition. I even had a Political Science teacher tell me I would not be welcome in his class when I stated the position that he might be capable of actual leadership, which is unfortunate but not unexpected from a member of the Rutgers PoliSci department.

Pt.02
Which brings us to the question: do I support Trump and if so am I a complete moron? I know my previous words are enough to isolate me from many people; those so couched in their righteous indignation that they are incapable of discussing things with those that believe differently. Assuming they actually read the Observer, they have already thrown this edition away in disgust (hopefully into a paper recycling receptacle and not on the grass outside Robeson... looking at you Hookah crew). So for those still reading, let's think about what President Trump might mean for this country. Socialized health care, entitlement spending, social welfare programs; it is anyone's guess as to what may happen. But I care little for domestic issues. My concern lies with international issues and how they affect the tapestry of human history.

Currently, we have an extremist organization releasing high quality videos of men of the wrong faith being killed in every twisted way possible. We have a Russian leader fueling a civil war in a country that has a formal alliance with the US to prevent this from happening. We are watching as thousands drown in the Mediterranean while millions more seek to create a new culture in Europe. The President of the United States sat idly by while a tin-pot dictator used chemical weapons on his own people. The only word I can use to describe this situation and maintain the high moral/grammatical standards of this publication is crazy. Taking the afore mentioned facets of international goings-on, and disregarding the scores of other incidents that space will not permit me to mention, I ask you: who would you rather lead this nation? A perennial political puppet who's opinion shifts with every poll she deigns to read? A Socialist who honestly believes that making college free and ignoring our global commitments will usher in a new golden age? Senators and Governors who care more about their religious convictions than their citizens?

Pt.01 #thefactsmatter

In the weeks following the shooting tragedy in Oregon, my news source of choice (BBC) has been calling every single gun related violent event that occurs remotely near an education facility a “school shooting.” Regardless of the pertinent details, or “facts” as they were called in my Grandfather's era, the Mainstream Media (MSM) seems hellbent on creating a reality where gun violence is rampant and widespread. Regardless of the fact that, with the exception of 2012, gun violence has dropped each year fro the past six years, and has been trending downward in the US for the last twenty years.

Ask a random person what the most dangerous things American Citizens need to worry about are, and you will probably get a wide range of responses. I can almost guarantee that a list of five from a random sampling of R-UN students would include “gun violence” and police violence. If they are Med Students, they might mention heart disease. According to the Center for Disease Control (CDC), the source of all of the stats mentioned in this article, the top five causes of death in the US are heart disease (611,105), cancer (584,881), chronic lower respiratory diseases (149,205), accidents, which are unintentional causes, (130,557), and stroke (128,978). I'd like to focus on two sections in particular: Accidents and Gun Deaths, one of which you will notice is not in the top five, or even the top ten for that matter.

Pt.02
Accidents are defined as unintentional causes of death, but for some reason the stats include deaths caused by drunk driving. Accidents involving motor vehicles stand at ~35,000. Deaths from firearms stand at ~32,000. Within the number of gun deaths, ~21,000 are suicides, leaving the number of deaths from homicide at ~11,000. Within the same source document from which I obtained these numbers, the number of deaths attributable to the police stand at a whopping 516. These are the numbers; this is the basis from which we as citizens should begin the discussions we believe are necessary.
Where are the Facebook pages dedicated to increasing the regulation on car ownership? Which hashtags are associated with getting cars out of the hands of those unfit to have them? When am I going to hear a presidential candidate talk about introducing background checks and waiting lists for car purchases? You will hear no candidate or community organizer speak of these things. People are infinitely more comfortable stripping away rights that they do not happen to exercise as opposed to ones they do, regardless of the actual danger of said right. Guns are easy to hate; they are literally death tools. Cars are a different story. They are icons of our shared culture. They are places to fall in and make love. They are places that bring us together. They are seen as a core element of American freedom.
A drunk girl plowed her car into a crowd of innocent parade attendees last week At the time of this article's creation, four were declared dead and many more listed as critical. She is looking at serious jail time. At least 3-7 years. I ask you: if a young man had taken a gun to this event and shot three people with no deaths, what do you think the overwhelming chorus on social media and in the MSM would be? Do you think Mr. Sanders would have a thing or two to wheeze his way through in front of a camera? I bet Clinton would have some eloquent, if monotonous, points to make.

Pt.03
We all seem to want freedom with no strings attached. When a freedom bothers us or intrudes upon our lives, the resounding sentiment is to get rid of it. But I value freedom and independence, and I accept the inherent risks associated with freedom and independence. I also believe deeply in the rule of law, as I have witnessed first hand what it is like when there is no strong police force. It is so easy to get bent out of shape when images of brutal police are played over and over again on the internet and television. But I am perfectly comfortable with errors on the edges if that is the price of Police On Demand. Everyone feels so edgy wearing clothes that say F**k Tha Police. It is the height of cool to talk down about these people who protect the peace every day and believe a point for human rights or social justice is being scored. I am not denying that there are problems with officer conduct and racial profiling, but I think we should apply the same standards we all have laid on ourselves to the men and women that show up on our doorsteps when they are called, regardless of the danger of the situation. We must look at the facts first, then build our opinions from there. To do otherwise is to bury our heads in the sand.

Pt.01
On November fifth, this past Thursday, the “Mr. and Ms. Africa Pageant” took place in the Robeson Campus Center. I cannot tell you who won, or whether it was a fun night, or what the program was like, as there is no way I would attend such an event. As you fire up your hate cannons, I would like to personally apologize to the individual nations on the Continent known as Africa. Not all of us here in the United States perceive your vast and complex land as some monolithic cultural symbol. In particular, I'd like to apologize to any Egyptians, Libyans, Tunisians, Moroccans, Mauritanians, Senegalese, Angolans, Namibians, South Africans, Somali Landers, Somalis, Kenyans, Ethiopians, Eritrians, and Sudanese as well as any Muslim Ghanains, Malians, Nigeriens, Gabonaise, Togolese, Sierra Leoneans, Liberians, and Nigerians who may have felt somewhat put out by the poster that was put up in the lobby of Talbott (my apologies as well to the countries that I missed or incorrect demonyms. I listed them from memory).

Pt.02
For those of you that missed this towering tribute to ignorance, it pictured a young man and woman dressed in what appeared to my untrained eye to be costumes from the “classic” movie African Queen, which I do not recommend or endorse in any way. They looked to be kitted out in West African garb, maybe, but it is besides the point, because it was crass and diminutive to the plethora of cultures that all call the Continent home. My knowledge of the region, and the continent for that matter, is much more modern and not very cultural. I have focused on the conflicts, the humanitarian crises, the geography, and the deep biological history of this storied yet no less mysterious place I hope to traverse one day. So maybe it is not my place to judge the event organizers who presumably have a much deeper understanding of the sociology, anthropology, and terminology of the Continent. Maybe there were folks from all four corners dressed in traditional garb. There might even have been food from every disparate major city and cultural center. So many potential possibilities, and not one of them known to me because after I saw that poster there was no way in cuss you would catch me at that event.

Pt.03
That poster made me embarrassed to be a student here. It made me embarrassed of the lip service we pay to cultural understanding and diversity. Above all, it made me deeply sorrowful to have my growing suspicions confirmed: we talk about noble things at Rutgers Newark, but we rarely do them. Maybe no one else cares. Maybe no one else knows enough to care. But I do. I have spent too many long nights arguing about Ebola, mosquito nets, fiber optic cables, and clean water with people from the Continent to be comfortable with this kind of trivialization of such a culturally complex region. Africa is not a fashion. Africa is a place full of wildly different types of people. Africa is a place where one country can have more true diversity than this school could ever pretend have, regardless of the self aggrandizing emails from the administration that cloud my inbox every day.

The rest i have are hard copies, so if you wanna see em imma have to photograph them and post.

Feel free to torch me if that's what you need to feel whole. Notes, comments, and critiques would be much more valuable.

LMK if you want more; im not going to take the time to photograph 'em if it is just nails on chalkboard for y'all.

all in all tho pretty decent stuff op judging from what i skimmed over.

thanks bruv

no problemo friendo

Kek. Alright you have my attention.
You post some good statistics, and your logic is very sound. You showed that guns aren't the most dangerous things out there, and made an alright simile with guns to cars.
However you already know such a comparison will probably never work on a liberalized mind, or "emotional mind".
I personally would throw in some scenarios on why we have guns in the first place, and more importantly why people having " killing tools" is actually beneficial to society at large.
I merely think of guns as tools.

thanks for the comments. for me, it was a thoughtsperiment made manifest: can i slip bits of pill into a decidedly hostile environment. It was working too. probably why it went south.

oh well. starting a YouTube channel with my former editor and hopefully launching the Underground paper come spring. I plan on posting prompts here and other places to see if anyone is interested.

thanks again.

PS guns are tools. i watered so much shit that i felt dirty, but sometimes you gotta look like the enemy to get past the defenses. it was fun while it lasted

Your writing is good, not too far above average but You'll get there eventually, you make fair points but you should try and put some omotional charge in there, appeal to people's emotions negatively if they are left-leaning and make them feel proud for agreeing with you.
It's a lower level of writing some would say but you can only convince adults to change their views, and let's face it, your demographic is overgrown children.
Overgrown children need to be shown how ridiculous and silly their views are to change, they need to feel shame that they were so wrong, not proof. Proof only works in a self-aware mind that can look at themselves and change what they belive.
While throwing in numbers and statistics is the right way to do things and demonstrates a point, which you do well enough, they bore those with a small attention span, so you should dedicate some practice at the very least to making your content slightly more impacting and emotionally charged, as in having an imact on the reader's emotions.
There's my constructive criticism.

thsnk you for this. before this gig i only did prose; short story scifi and such. it was hard trying to be blatant.
