So what's your name boy?

>So what's your name boy?

Can someone give me a thesis on why movies like Die Hard and Die Hard 3 no longer are made? Do we just lack likable leading men?

Yes I know this is alt-right crybaby b8 but I'll pretend this is a real thread.

Because movies like Die Hard and Lethal Weapon and Predator perfected the formula and were massively popular so everything after just became parody or a shallow derivative. If you want more then watch Shane Black.

You can't find anyone in Hollywood with this amount of T.

>alt-right crybaby b8

Can you take your meds and fuck off back to reeddit? What kind of schizoid logic did you run to arrive at that "conclusion"?

Mctiernan is blacklisted in Hollywood for wiretapping his Jewish producer

I was actually watching Cliffhanger the other night on tv, and I was forced to realize how movies have no fucking balls anymore. Cliffhanger has f-bombs, blood, discomfort, violence, a despicable villain, the everyman protagonist, but most of all they actually went out and filmed guys climbing around like absolute madmen on cliffs.

And I think that's the thing that gives those 80's 90's action movies their grit, not even the blood and swearing, but just the fact that they couldn't cgi things and so stunts, explosions, sets, locations all were real. Die Hard With a Vengeance looks like the real world because they just filmed the real world. It's so good. I love the look of those movies. It was the apex of traditional film-making. Not that there's anything wrong with cgi done well but it still doesn't substitute.

As well action movies had to be grounded because what they could film was what they could do, and action movies are better than way. Real stakes but not necessarily world saving stakes. I feel as if action blockbuster has become a lost art now.

Everything has got to be pg13 and part of a "cinematic universe" because a vast portion of cinema-goers now are manchildren that refuse to grow the fuck up. If the main character isn't wearing lycra then these faggots aren't interested.

dude, cut the sound of these 2 movies and watch the agencement of images on the screen...the guy who did those 2 films is what we called a maestro,a guy who mastered his art.
And he probably won't make another movies in his lifetime.Mct...

>Do we just lack likable leading men
Yes.

The everyman protagonist is dead.

John McClane was a handsome guy in a rugged way, a blue collar Prince Charming. He was balding, kind of out of shape but in shape. He was an asshole and bull-headed.

We don't have that anymore because:
1. Lead actors must be male models so that women will attend.
2. Leading man must be "likable".
3. Swearing is a no-no.

The best example can be seen with the huge contrast between Indiana Jones based on how Indy fucking kills people and gets all beat up and acts like a dick half the time in the first movies, and then in Crystal skull the violence is all clean and sort of cartooned or out of the way.

for cucks, any assertion of cultural decline offends their 'everything is better now!' stupidity

> Transporter 2
> Sahara
> The Rundown
> Die Hard 4
> MI 4-5

Now kindly fuck off

All those movies have a woman somewhere trying to put the man in his place.

thanks reddit

I always wonder what it is with older movies that makes them feel just more tense. Is it nostalgia or have modern movies lost their touch.

I feel like old movies had their hero really struggle. They bled, they sweat, they sold us on the stakes no matter how high.

Todays movies have to have the hero be ultra cool where nothing can faze him and the global stakes feel just not real. Instead of setting up the world and letting the story unfold they have to fire up the action to fight for the attention of the ADHD and consequently don't give the audience the time to get invested in the characters.

Die hard 1 had a nagging wife

Die hard 3 had a litteral psycho german chic with a knife

Get shrekt

We're still watching movies with old Arnold, Bruce, Sly, and the rest.
Why hasn't Hollywood creates a new action stars?
There's Vin Diesel, Dwayne Johnson, and Stathom but they're all in their 40s or so as well.

Faggots and Feminists took over the industry, the Jews were unironically our greatest ally all along

I will never understand why people like the rock

Put him next to Bruce Willis and for me that difference is self evident. One guy is a mans man and the other is this weird circus fag who just wants to be the centre of attention and smirk and act like some ballerina on roids.

Vin Diesel and Statham are cool.

Cgi also makes certain effects too sleek so your brain knows its not actually hurting or touching anyone if it is used too much, when john mclane was walking on glass without shoes you may have known that he was just stepping on sugar glass that didnt hurt but he could react more realistically than if nothing was there at all and the camera could simply depict what was in front of it.

Have they done anything noteworthy other than a couple popcorn flicks?

M8 the rock is great, he doesnt take himself too seriously and he's always the best part of the bad movies hes in.

The industry has become bitch mode and resorted to making sequels or remakes of successful franchises in the past to guarantee returns on investment.

The industry is doing badly nobody wants a new name or new IP to bomb since less and less are going to the movies.

And he probably did smack up against a vent. Today he'd smack up against a green piece of rubber that later got edited to look like a vent that doesnt look like a vent.

And since there is nothing original made anymore, less and less people are going to the movies.

So did he actually hate niggers or what?

He was a NY cop... let's not split hairs donnie

RIP Hollywood
