Star Trek is overrated, its just a campy low budget drama like Doctor Who that is sucked off by its fans simply out of a desire to belong to something that doesn't have mainstream appeal.

Trek is super comfy and good and smart most of the time. Its characters try to be bold and ethical in their decision making, which is a good framework to build stories on.

There's no way it won't. Discovery is going to be a grim dark explosion of nonsense, the same as every other fucking show. There's no reason to watch it over anything else, especially since its locked away on some streaming app.
