I think within pantheon of John Carpenter, I consider it second only to The Thing. It's great.

WE ARE TRANSMITTING FROM THE YEAR ONE NINE NINE NINE

A friend and I both saw this movie seperately as kids. As adults, it randomly came up in conversation and we became obsessed and watched the movie repeatedly for a month or so.
Honestly, I couldn't tell you why, but we just got so hung up on it. He'd come to my house, I'd get a pizza and we'd watch it once or twice.doing this several times a week. And we both watched it alone too...
A big part of it was joking about weird elements in the movie, but a lot of it was just the fact that we both enjoyed it so much for whatever reason. The atmosphere, dialogue, story, music, all of it.

Probably just both borderline retarded ocd, but it was an interesting time in my life. I've never become so consumed with a movie before or since then (except jurassic park as a kid). I could still probably watch prince of darkness a couple times a day, lol.

This segment is at the start of a Marilyn Manson song, lol. Not surprisingly the best part of the song... (And I'm saying that as an edgy cunt who actually likes Manson)
