Let's talk about the elephant in the room

Let's talk about the elephant in the room.

>Healthcare

People are literally going bankrupt because of medical debt. Why are people getting charged $4000 for a 1 hour hospital visit? Even shithole communist countries like Cuba have free healthcare. We spend an insane amount of money on military, and we could easily take a cut of that to pay for healthcare. There is no excuse. Every industrialized, modern country except America has free healthcare.

Spending money with insurance companies isn't like spending real money, it's like spending someone else's money. Therefore doctors get away with charging frankly obscene amounts, because it doesn't hamper the number of goods procured.

Privitizing healthcare would make it cheaper, but eliminate availability to the lowest common denominator, putting people's lives at risk. In the case of widespread disease, this could also effect everyone, as the poorest would refuse to get checked. Ideal situation would be a shitty government-funded bottom line, and everything else is privitized.

USA is a nation of whores. Money rules.

American healthcare is broken for several reasons.
One is the lack of a single payer system: when you can vary the amount you sell your goods for, you can jew the fuck out of everyone.
Second is the insurance incentive problem: when you are using other peoples money to buy someone elses stuff, you don't have the incentive to get a good deal, money wise or healthcare given.
Third is the lack of a basic (and I mean basic, I'm talking limited GP visits and essential surgeries, like cholecystectomies after cholecystitis) government paid system. This causes chronic issues, which could and should be managed as outpatients with less specialised GPs, be managed only in exacerbations by ED personnel, who really shouldn't be doing these things.
A fourth is the confusopoly that is inherent in medicine: there is no way for any person to fully know and understand the positives and negatives of any decision about their own healthcare, including which specific institution to go to. A national register may be of some help in this.

Just switch to free healthcare idiot.

>OP wants to talk about the "elephant in the room" but doesn't want to acknowledge the one uncomfortable truth about modern healthcare

But hey, I'm sure the government will fix it.

sage and hidden

Tell that to Republicans.

Fuck "free" healthcare

>lets talk about the elephant in the room
>addresses the mouse

People will literally die this week over here; our doctors are going on strike because they don't want to work weekends.

It's a red herring, don't fall for it son

>another year
>another 20% rate jump on my insurance
When will it end?

This pretty much.

Currently there is a big protest among people employed in healthcare here. From nurses to managers everyone agrees that the conditions are shit, the pay is shit and the treatment for the patients are shit.

And they'll be glad! Fuck this country.

>i have conservative values so i MUST follow everything republicans do! lol wtf is independent thought?? :DDD

>there's actually people who willingly work jobs that don't provide them with healthcare
No one to blame but yourself desu senpai

Our state-run hospital nurses are going on strike because they want from 40h to 35h/week with the same pay. The unions are having a field day because the easiest entity to extort money from is the government since everyone is forced to pay for it.
I fucking wish health was privatized here. Americommies should really try coming here and experience utopia first hand.

i had an $80 / month healthcare plan since 2007 and now i pay $145 / month for the same thing i never use tnx obama

>Tfw I haven't had a doctor's appointment in 4 years

Smoker here, never used the NHS in my life outside of the odd GP visit. Now about to be barred from surgeries and still forced to pay into the system.

Fuck free healthcare, like all socialism it just bloats out of control and fucks you over. I'm now paying for everyone else to use a service I can't use, and thus have to pay twice to cover myself. I hope it collapses soon.

I'm going on 7 or 8 now? Not even sure. The point is that people are retarded and cause most of their own problems by getting fat or getting themselves hurt being retards. Then you have older people who think every little thing requires an emergency room visit and surgery. Healthcare isn't the problem so much as consumers being absolutely insane. Best thing to do is remove state barriers for competition and let the various payers compete across state lines, driving down prices and improving plans. Get rid of faggy Obamacare and let people choose to not participate. Vote Trump if you're not a fucking tool.
