So i got my IQ tested for the lols and got a 138, which I thought was normal. I looked it up and it turns out 94% of the world has an iq of 137 or less. I do consider myself more intelligent than most people, but i have met a ton of people as smart or smarter then me too. Is it possible that higher IQs are concentrated in certain areas?

All of those numbers are bullshit, and it sounds like you took an online test.
Most tests use a standard deviation of 15, which means that at an IQ of 130, you're smarter than 98% of the population. This is the requirement for Mensa.
If your score of 138 only makes you smarter than 94% of the population, then your test uses a much higher standard deviation, which falsely inflates your score. With an SD of 15, you're likely closer to an IQ of 123, and that's assuming your test is even remotely accurate.

Iq is basically ability to learn. Obviously some physics phd is going to be smarter than a shit kid with high iq. You may have a higher limit of intelligence, or may learn faster.
Different tests have different cutoffs for Mensa. When you so the Mensa test you do two variations. Cutoffs for entry are different for each. One is what autists love and is all about shapes and the other has logic puzzles.

IQ is normed on a specific population. Mostly the European population which has the IQ of 100. The relevant number of OP is: 94 %. With a standard deviation of 15 (Mensa requirement) he has an IQ of 123 which is above average but not that much (IQ of 130 is required for Mensa).

As mentioned already in the thread, intelligence and knowledge are two different things. Intelligence is your ability to learn and to reason whereas knowledge is what you have learned and reasoned. The people you've met are probably knowledgable but not actually that intelligent.

I was tested in high school and was apparently the highest of my class (according to my parents 145). Funnily enough I had the lowest grades though, it had little to do with my capabilities but still found it to be a funny inverse coincidence. Haven't really tested myself ever since - my ego is too fragile to take a hit would the results be disappointing.
