Just watched this

Just watched this.

So was he right Sup Forums?

Yes. No. Maybe. Can you repeat the question

who cares, the whole movie was kind of retarded

i was just glad it was over

rorschach send his diary to a newspaper. he did not succeed.
>truth always wins lol

he sent the diary before the last scene,so nope

Do the fanfiction tier comics show the fallout of that?

Not right, but it was the easiest and quickest way. In hindsight tho is the cold war ending sooner worth blowing up NYC?

*ozy does not succeed because rorschach send the diary before the final encounter.

Probably the worst part of the movie to be honest.

I wish Quentin still posted here.

In the comic you could say the squid's brainwaves or whatever keeps people fucked up enough that it doesn't matter, assuming the truth spreads, but without that element Ozy's plan kind of hinges on nobody finding out the truth. He didn't want to avert just one specific nuclear exchange, but any nuclear war in the present or future, and Manhattan implies in the end of the comic his solution isn't permanent and he'll fail eventually.

We do not even know the newspaper is going to read the diary or if they do print it.

It the context of his universe, I guess.

The idea that russia or the US would actually execute the order of launching ~20,000 nukes is quite laughable.

So no. He was not right to kill some 30,000,000 people

It's incredible how you can translate the dialog and story so faithfully but still somehow manage to fuck it up overall

Rorschach is seen by the public as a nutcase, so his word probably will mean nothing to them. No one will believe him.

its not how journalism works
you take parts of the story and you start fact checking
were there division of the smart guys company doing something in antarctica of wherever it was, did the guy with the ears really die, did the comedian? Were there riots in prisons acording to records
was the hired assassin really a convicted and working for the company...

there of course needs to be leap in the end, where stuff cant be confirmed, but its still quite enough to report

>laughable

Easy to say in hindsight, and yes in out world by the '80s things were unlikely to go hot. In their world though Nixon was literally in a bunker working up his war boner.

But the paper itself wasn't trustworthy, it was a fringe rag. Maybe it draws attention and more worthy outlets check it out but by then Veidt's started covering his tracks, killing, bribing, influencing the media. In the end it'll be another bunch of bullshit with no satisfying conclusion, which is the theme of the book.

>ywn read in-universe info wars
conspiracy theories in comic books would be lit

>"Cosmic vampire bankers are stealing our life force!"
>well stranger things have happened.

He killed millions based on a what-if.

He should have just told Dr. Manhattan to destroy the worlds nukes so there could be no war

The movie plit was retarded, if dr. Manhatten had attacked the US. Then Russia would have reason for alarm and prep their weapons for a possible invasion. But the russians would most likley not declare peace with the US.

NOW THE COMIC PLOT makes so much mote fucking sense for why russia was to declare peace

No because DC can only legally make prequels to Watchmen but not sequels.

>dr. Manhatten had attacked the US. Then Russia would have reason for alarm and prep their weapons for a possible invasion. But the russians would most likley not declare peace with the US.
DR M didnt just attack NY in the movie, he attacked EVERY MAJOR CITY IN THE WORLD

This would just make the entire world unite against the US and destroy the world faster

It was written in an era when finding lost (ie., faked) diaries were a meme with the British press. Jack the Ripper, Hitler, etc.

4D knowledge means doing nothing.
