ITT: best Lovecraftian kinos

not lovecraftian. shitty movie that wasnt scary at all.

>movie trailer
>WHAT IF CTHULU WASN'T JUST A STORY
>ear shattering fart noise
>full frontal shot of Cthulu rising from the sea with water streaming off of its body
>black screen
>coming 2018

>movie
>opening shot is Cthulu rising out of the water
>movie is 2 hours and 45 minutes of Cthulu destroying a city
>ending is Cthulu standing over the leveled city roaring at the sky

it is when you consider how many people paid to watch it

>It Follows
>Lovecraftian

No.

>missing all the allegories to The Dunwich Horror
lmao

>inb4 it's just toy story for older kids
Clearly you missed the bigger picture going on
Go rewatch it

Forgot image except I didn't I selected that shit once already

Lovercraftian >>>>>> Sneed's

>Lovecraftian

I liked these first few threads of everyone posting ideas for Lovecraft movies
why is it being spammed every hour now?
And I see it in unrelated threads too.

It Follows filled me with a deep nostalgic sadness

Something about the young group of suburban high school friends exploring their sexuality and teenage angst

It finished and I felt both warmly satisfied and suicidal

is Lovecraftian the new Kafkaesque?

Lovecraft is all about realising the insignificance of humanity on a cosmic scale, things so terrifying and impossible to comprehend they drive men mad.

It follows is about an STD ghost that waddles after you. Not only is it very easy to comprehend but one of the first things that happens in the movie is a character laying out the well defined rules of exactly how it behaves and operates.

Every time, every FUCKING time there's a Lovecraft thread, someone has to post this stupid ass shit as if it would be a good movie when it ignores everything that makes the spawns of Yog-Sototh terrifying by dumbing down the concept into some stupid ass Hollywoodian tripe with no horror at all on top of picking literally the WEAKEST Elder God (read the fucking story, Cthulhu gets beaten by some drunken sailors and a single boat) which keeps perpetuating Cthulhu as this almighty being when there's an endless mythos of way cooler entities and now people are purposefully making "good Lovecraftian movies???" threads over and over even though there's only like 5 good ones ever discussed in them just so that some stupid fuck can post this unfunny unimaginative copypasta over and over again fuck you fuck you fuck you fuck you fuck you fuck you

Thank you. For awhile It follows, The Babadook, and The VVitch were worshipped here just cause they had no jumpscares. Glad people are realizing now that this doesn't mean these movies are fucking revolutionary.

no lovecraftian more like rwchandlerian

you need to read the mask to get my drift

>why is it being spammed every hour now?
Because there's one autistic faggot that tries to force his new meme of the week every week.

>>ear shattering fart noise

There's only one Mask I read.

Lovecraftian is a lot more specific term than Kafkaesque.

It specifically refers to cosmic horror where humankind is insignificant in the face of malevolent forces far beyond our scale and understanding.

The Cabin in the Woods

Correct. The filmic equivalent of a mosquito ringtone.

...

The concept of an immortal, unknowable, unstoppable entity pursuing the characters to their inevitable doom is, thematically, very much in keeping with Lovecraft's style.

I think people take the term "Lovecraftian" too much at face value and think it just means "there are giant omnipotent monsters with tentacle faces."
