He is the purest filmmaker. His works are literally motion pictures. Others in the industry are too focused on plot. It should be no surprise that a vast majority of supposedly acclaimed films are in fact adaptations of books.

He has a very Lynchian directorial style.

His style is very lovecraftian

Gonna suck when he dies.

How old is he?

71 and a smoker. But the dude has millions and creates whatever the fuck he wants for a living, so maybe that will keep him around. He looks pretty good for his age.

>purest filmmaker.
it's not even pure cinema. You need to take the Brakhage pill and realize what real cinema is.

Absolutely Lunchian.

>It should be no surprise that a vast majority of supposedly acclaimed films are in fact adaptations of books.
Is this somehow supposed to be a bad thing?

>Director does exactly what they want and has creative control
>is a good thing

Who would have fucking guessed

maybe not actively bad, but it's not ideal.

only if the director is good. are you retarded for the sake of retardness?

t. I started watching TP 2 months ago and now I'm an expert in film

David Lynch is the pseud normie king

Lol lookes like david lynch is having some david LUNCH! :)

That's an even more reductionist comment:
>people who make good things make good things
Thanks for contributing.

*hangs nigger*
david lynch :D

>71 and a smoker.
He doesn't look a day over 40. Maybe transcendental meditation isn't complete bullshit after all.

>He doesn't look a day over 40
lad

>Good thing is good
Wow what insight. A single creative head is still marginally a better thing than the 32 suits making monetary 'investments' we get today. Something like this needs explaining to you I understand.

I don't buy this. This implies that you only get second-rate movies if you do. How is it not "ideal" to adapt a novel, or a play, or some other media? If you are lucky, you have something that already has an intelligent script so it actually elevates the images on screen. Or you have something that occasionally transcends its original version (Clockwork Orange for example).

You misunderstand. Book adaptations aren't a bad thing. But most movies being adaptations isn't the ideal situation. Ideally, every form should have its own standout works that can only be achieved through that form.

Which of david lynch's movies are adaptations?

Dune and Elephantman

>occasionally transcends its original version
You know burgess wrote clockwork orange in like a weekend because he was on contract. He literally slapped the most obnoxious edgy shit he could think of together and turned it in.
He's been genuinely salty ever since that this is the book he's remembered for.
