Increased playback speed

Do any of you actually do this? If so, why?

It's efficient

If I have to watch a film for a class

I can watch twice as many movies before I die. Triple if I crank it up to 3x.

>Triple if I crank it up to 3x
brb checking your calculations

Assuming you live another 50 years and all you do each day is watch movies, at what speed should you be watching so that you will have seen every film before dying?

I'm not going to read this thread because I know it will just make me angry.

Read it at 3x speed and you'll only feel 1/3 the anger.

that's assuming all movies you watch are of equal duration.

>watch camrip at 2x speed while shitposting on Sup Forums
>whine about how the movie was bad

when i'm watching a movie that is kinda shit or extremely slow paced i speed it up sometimes, usually towards the end

i typically marathon films at 2x in 30min (15min) chunks. it allows me to get on with other things without compromising the pacing or viewing experience

The movie is the same regardless of whether you watch a camrip or some imax showing.

I usually just close it at that point and read the ending on wikipedia

I used to work at blockbuster and get free movies all the time. I would watch several movies at 1.5x speed so I could get through more of them. Usually ones that were pretty mediocre that I didn't care about.

Don't you mean Sneed: 2.00x ?

The only film I remember doing that for was 'Norte, The End of History', because fuck that movie.

ssh. its how we trick milennials into thinking theyve done something other than waste time and miss the point of film entirely..

If you were born after the 70s, you're a millennial.

I seriously hope you guys don't do this,
It ruins the timing , and if you watch at an increased speed you will never truly understand the psychological effect you were meant to experience.

And if you're in your early to mid-20s like a huge portion of Sup Forums, you're most definitely one.

>movies and tv
No.

>News and Sunday morning political shows
I watch those at 1.33x anything faster is too difficult for me to understand.

>hear about a new movie
>read the synopsis on imdb
>feel content and say "that was pretty good" out loud

I used this to watch Paul Blart: Mall Cop. Are you seriously suggesting I should have watched Paul Blart: Mall Cop in regular speed? Use your brain, user

how do you do this in windows movie player? or is it only for VLC?

Op looks like he's using MPHC

2x is a meme, because few if anybody can actually keep up.

I like proto punk rock and somba music. It's like magic.

This makes you angry but the hundreds threads praising the worst of film and tv don't?

Film is a visual medium you stupid fucking pleb, of course it's not the same if you watch it in the worst possible quality. Stick to video games you fucking retard.

it's just assuming the average length of all the movies in the 2x or 3x scenario is equal which is pretty reasonable

This. How do you follow the dialogue at 2x speed? I have a feeling most of you doing this are shitposting with the movie on in the background.

>not watching 2 movies at once

mpc does allow speed adjustments
i have to use it to slow down old PAL videos to be the correct speed all the time

Fuck off

i watch the walking dead a 1.4X with subs
I should have dropped it waaay backs but have some very slight interest

Many silent films had no concept of editing and ended up being over 4 hours long. I ain't got time for that shit, nigga! Doubling the speed if the only way I can maintain my concentration.

There are an estimated 500,000 movies that are watchable right now, and we'll say the average movie length is about 110 minutes.

In 24 hours, you can watch about 13.09 movies (average 110 mins). Assuming you sleep 8 hours a day, you watch about 8.72 movies a day with sleep.

There are 18,250 days in 50 years so watching at 1x speed you'll watch approx. 159,140 movies (18,250 x 8.72). To watch 500,000 movies in 50 years, you'll need to watch every movie at approx. 3.141x speed. So not that fast, unsurprisingly, considering all you do is watch movies for 50 years.

You forgot to take into account that new movies would be coming out during that 50 year span, probably at a faster rate than in the past. The only way to watch every movie ever made is to first destroy all life on Earth, then watch every movie at 3.141x speed and hope to God that aliens haven't made any movies.

I noticed FXX does this with the Simpsons. You can really hear it when Lisa speaks. It's jarring.

I know TBS does it with Family Guy and all those other Seth shows.

what's the worst of film and tv?

kek

My parents steal from my kino collection and watch it at 1.5x (I even caught them skipping "slow" scenes at higher speeds).
Normies need to be stopped.

Once in a while.
If you start it at fast your brain adjusts it so it's fine, as long as it's not too fast.

>kino collection
how kino is it?

1.33x is optimal sneed for kino

>not 2.5x for 60fps

Pleb detected. SAD!

My man

wait, some people here don't watch at 1.25-1.75 speed?

>improves action sequences
>makes comedy funnier
>makes dialogue more interesting and engaging to keep up with
>get to watch more kino every day

the fuck?

inb4 time to poop

>two eyes
>two ears
>two hands to shitpost

God designed man this way for a reason.

I think in those scenarios you're assuming the length of the movie that you watch is the same as the average length of the rest of the movies you watches. i.e. if you watch a 90 minute movie, it'll be slightly over 2 but if you watch a 130 min movie it will be under 2. but the differences are obviously not going ot be that significant

givin it a try with pic related, 2x speed seems pretty comfy

I can keep up at 1.68x, and at 2x if its a slower paced movie with clearly enunciated dialogue. You aren't going to be able to eat a mumblecore movie at 2x unless its muted and there are subtitles. Its a crippled experience, but with shitty movies, it makes you feel less angry

because the movie is shit yet but yet i want to see how it ends

I watch porn at 2x speed.

When I'm watching particularly long YouTube videos, such as GDC talks, I'll set it to 1.25. I'm not lazy enough to do it on movies though. If the movie is boring I'll stop watching.

You understand, that you could have spent that time watching something that you actually enjoy? But then, again, NTR is popular now.

those are rookie techniques.

you don't go beyond 3x speed to watch movies. you use 4 tv's with 4 different movies on 1.5x speed.

Of course. When I know the movie will be shit but I still want to see how shit it is. I usually dont do this since the beginning but lately is kinda usual:

Alien Covenant: 2.00x (I should have accelerated it more)
GotG2: 2.00x -> 3.00x (start in 2 and then the dance title intro and goes to 3 till the end)
WW: 2.00x -> 3.00x (after watching gadot same face in every scene)
Transformers Last Knight: 2.00x -> 3.00x -> 4.00x (I tried 4.1x but vlc kinda glitched)
