My sister is writing a university paper on why Marvel movies are more successful both critically and financially than DC movies. What are some points she could make in her paper? Obviously, just saying "shills" or "quips" or anything similar wouldn't fly with her professor.

That marvel understands that superheroes (I mean All superheroes) are for children and market their products that way.
Is the truth guys.

More likeable characters. That's it.

>likable characters
>marvel
>where everyone is some shade of hitler

lol....

Tell her to right about something interesting or substantial instead. Maybe tell her to grow the fuck up and watch some movies for adults.

In the movies? No they're not.

We're talking about movies here, not comics.

DC came out with saying Directors and Writers could write their movies how they envision them, while Marvel (When it began with Iron Man) Had a set vision or in a way, cretin requirements that Directors and Writers had to do, like say

>Include Infinity Gem

>Include Moments that build up to the Civil War Movie

>Include this type of scene

This gave Marvel more control over what they wanted, and let to a more consistent, cohesive and better Cinematic Universe.

People like the Marvel Movies because they feel like there is an actuall universe happening

When DC did their movies, when they let the Director and Writer do whatever they want, you got Batman V Superman

A film that allowed the Director and writer all control.

It started off as a Man of Steel Sequal but was eventually morphed into this.

With no body in their to say "Do this" or "Include this, exclude that" Or

"RE-WRITE THIS SHIT"

There was no control on it's quality and it launched to poor reception, and missed their projected mark for investors.

I could include more if you want, this is just an example that came to mind

Your sister could gather more info if she watches these

It is.

Doesn't explain Dark Knight being a great crime movie on its own, though.

She could say that DC movies have painfully boring and unlikable characters and the plots pretentious and overwrought. Mavel is jsut generic which could be an argument in your sisters favor. Is a uniquely terrible movie better than dozens of forgettable generic ones?

Because Robert Downey Jr and Chris Evans and them are charming and hilarious, while Cavill and Affleck are downright unbearable

Well, the idea of grounding a street-level hero like Batman is a good idea, but when you try to ground a super being with the powers of a god isn't. Take Thor in the MCU. He's literally a god but Kenneth Branagh has fun with the idea of a God going to Earth and doing mundane things, whereas Snyder has Superman and tries to dive into a superhuman's psyche and treats the material as he would a cheap psychology paper on human interactions.
It's like Snyder, as Kevin Smith pointed out once, just looked at The Dark Knigh Returns' pictures but didn't bother actually reading it.

>Midnights Edge

Oh boy, more Disney shilling

>all those memes
Nice company war, OP.

This is facts.

To make an actual contribution though, I think Marvel always had a leg up because they had to develop more of their forgotten/B-List properties in order to succeed because they sold the film rights for their top sellers to Sony and Fox. We'd be living in a very different world if it were Marvel Studios churning out Spider-Man reboots while Iron Man rotted in the backburner. Nobody gave a shit about Iron Man until 2008, and then suddenly he was THE super hero for a lot of newcomers and kids. Marvel always had to turn a profit using their backup plan.

Contrast to WB who had Batman and Supes right out of the gate and now they're in a situation where if Batman isn't in the movie, nobody gives a shit. They always had their A-listers, so they never had to turn someone INTO an A-lister.

She should tell her teacher that twitter bots are useful too.

flawed audience

but didn't they try to start with GL?

They're earning their Xmas pay, user.

This.

Movies.

>My sister
Pics or gtfo

>le quips
lol lol

>huuuur shilling

Already ignoring anything that you have to say.

Marvel Disney movies are more easily understood; they're designed so that the stupid masses can enjoy them. DC has Zack Snyder make their movies, and he makes movies for enlightened patricians

>tfw to intelligent for Marvel movies

GL isn't really an A lister.
There's only like 5 A list Superheroes and one of them is only there in name only because she's the first big female.

>Hitler wasn't likable
There's a reason he's the most represented historical figure in fiction.

Marvel's base is broader and more high concept.
DC is doing low concept, borderline (if not full on) deconstructions that rely largely on esoteric references and symbolism, and appeal to a niche audience.

Just from a purely theoretical level there's going to be more people turned off on the latter than the former. And that's before you even get into the matter of execution, which is widely contested here.

Yes

not because he's Jesus but because everyone wants to kick him in the nuts and cut his fucking head off even though he died a long time ago

now please go back to your containment board and discuss Hitler with your other alt-right idiots

GL was a turd of a film for reasons beyond even writing.

But there was plenty of obvious executive input on both BvS (setups for JL) and SS (editing), just not competent input.

>Obviously, just saying "shills" or "quips" or anything similar wouldn't fly with her professor.

This trend of using filler to pad out college papers is a plague in higher education.

It was barely a superhero movie.
