Yeah but homosexuality is bad and should be discouraged and when you take away someone's right to do that, you abandon your standards of morality.

You can't change the Magesterium (i.e. Church Doctrine) about a lot of things including homosexuality. Usually Doctrine is changed around minor thing, not things already set in stone in the Bible. Homosexuality will always be a sin in the Catholic Church
