Basic income continuation

old thread

Just realized I was talking to myself. Let's go again.

UBI will alleviate working poverty and could increase productivity.

>What do you think causes income disparity?

Part hard work, part inheritance. If you're born owning 12 properties in a major city, the only way is up unless you're full retard.

>How much income disparity is acceptable to you, if any?

Japan legally caps CEOs salaries at like 10 times the average employee. Over here that figure is more than 200 times. I'd settle for somewhere in-between.

>How will you enforce it?

Higer top rate tax. You know our current top rate is 45%, a mere 5% more than the middle bracket. I'd lower the middle bracket to 35% and increase the top rate to at least 50%, maybe a top tier of 60% for earnings above 10 million a year. If I really wanted to put the boot in I'd bring in a wealth tax and oppressively high inheritance tax. But it should work without these two. I'm not saying you can't be a millionaire or billionaire. Just that you'll be taxed accordingly.

Hmm, I wonder why..

>UBI will alleviate working poverty and could increase productivity.
>could increase productivity
>basic income
>increase productivity
>basic
>income
>productivity

That will just reward lazy fucks who know they will earn money even if they slack off work. Next will be even more regulations for firing unproductive workers

Welcome comrade, do you like communism so far?

>Europe going to shit thanks to excessive levels of unsustainable social security

fucking socialist shitheads. You'll never learn

This. OP's arguments were BTFO'd for being uninformed commie bullshit, so he decided to start a new thread and try again. Fucking autist.

FUCK OFF!

Nay lad the thread went over 300 replies and I don't feel we were finished.

Ideally this wouldn't cost much more than current welfare. In reality it probably will. So the top level of tax is increased, as is corporation tax. These people and corporations are making hundreds of millions in profit. I've no qualms taxing them a bit more.

see again

en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Basic_income_in_India

The idea is that more people will start their own business if they know the basic cost of living is covered. Not everyone is happy just scraping by.

You realise we already do this right? Consider it a tax rebate if that helps your conscience.

>so the top level of tax is increased, as is corporation tax.
> I've no qualms taxing them a bit more.

And just watch the people who give you the most money in taxes leave your country, you stupid fuck!

People, especially dumb people, are inherently lazy and don't care about anything if they're meeting a basic life style.

>So the top level of tax is increased, as is corporation tax. These people and corporations are making hundreds of millions in profit.
You people never fucking learn. Increase taxes and they will just move somewhere else. This is what happened here in the last years. We lost 20% of our millionairs and our country now has to tax the hell out of the middle class. Once they are gone as well (it's already happening btw) who will they tax?

Everyone else did. We explained at length how ridiculous your ideas are and you kept sperging out without making any actual points. Because you're autismo af.

A tax on corporations is a tax on workers. Inanimate bodies do not make money or pay taxes.

Watch Milton Friedman and you'll understand why this whole scheme is bad.

>And just watch the people who give you the most money in taxes leave your country

We've had far higher taxes in the past. I doubt anyone would leave cause of a 5% rise. There's also an argument that you could remove the minimum wage if you had UBI in place, so there's a wee bonus for employers.

>A tax on corporations is a tax on workers. Inanimate bodies do not make money or pay taxes.

>Won't somebody think of the corporations!

> Inanimate bodies do not make money or pay taxes.

Then how come Apple is sitting on a quarter of a trillion hard cash? Are they just waiting to split it equitably with their third world workers?

So I'm a CTR commie? There are a dozen Trump threads if that's what you're looking for and if you want a safe space try 8/pol/

You really are very stupid. I thought everyone went to college for free over there? What a waste of money.

>The idea is that more people will start their own business if they know the basic cost of living is covered. Not everyone is happy just scraping by.

Thats not how it works. Jesus christ, leftists are the most idiotic sub-species of human in existence.

To start your own business you need way more than just gibs me dats. And people are not natural entrepreneurs, you need some very good set of skills to start a business and one of the main one is motivation and courage and the ability to sacrifice a lot of time that you have to put into your business. Basic income scum work 8 hours a day for a guaranteed salary, the businessman has to work 10-12 just to make sure he doesn't fuck up and that everything runs smoothly to be able to pay the basic income scum that will most probably slack.

Socialists always rely on the premise that all people are good when in reality its exactly the opposite.

Good point well made.

Apparently you're too fucking stupid to understand Friedman and Johnson is not a libertarian. How many anons do you want to tell you how retarded you are? What's the point.
Saged.

Not everybody is happy getting by on the bare minimum.

>muh no true libertarian

kek. You're starting to sound like left/pol/. Besides, you didn't answer teh question the last time. You consider yourself libertarian right? Like more so that Friedman or Johnston anyway. So are you a fan out neo-liberalism? How about TTIP? TPP?

Fuck. Off. Autist.
Saged.

Friedman supported negative income tax on the condition of abolition of all other welfare programs. If this is what you're arguing for, I agree.

But you need to abolish your Healthcare, housing, food stamps, etc. programs

Did anything ever come of this?

>Not everybody is happy getting by on the bare minimum.

You have the tools to fucking better yourself you commie scum. Go to a college, learn a trade, work harder.

Its not like the "bourgeoisie" is keeping you down, it was never like that, its just commies being idiots and lazy fucks just being lazy, demanding gibs.

Good thing true communism never succeeded because we would have been in the stone age now. Even self proclaimed communists realized people suck and are bad as fuck and they need some hard crack.

I'll take that as a no then.

>But you need to abolish your Healthcare, housing, food stamps, etc. programs

What kind of level would UBI have to be set at for people to afford healthcare in the US? I'm all for scrapping other benefits and replacing them with this but I'd keep healthcare subsidised. After all you need plebs alive to man the looms.

Note, I am not here to defend the NHS. The NHS is in need of drastic reform. But State ran healthcare is cheaper and by many metrics better than private healthcare.

I'm not a commie. Besides, not everyone can be an engineer or doctor.

is this you, sargon of akkad?
you don't know shit about economics please refrain from commenting on it

I accept that luxury goods would likely increase in price. No reason for basic goods to. And rent can be controlled.

>learn a trade, work harder.

Ofcourse, thats why i said the above.

~55% tax rate
~52% debt

Instead of having elite/upper class people that could advance your country, better make everyone equal.

Jesus Christ... At least Romania has an excuse for lacking elites/upper class but at least its because they were murdered.

There'd still be billionaires, individuals can still own the memes of production. I don't give a shit about that. But when people in the first world are getting poorer and pushed down the ladder by globalisation then it's time to fucking circle the wagon and look after your own. You're not some dirty globalist are you?

> You're not some dirty globalist are you?
No

Thats why nationalist governments are needed. Tax imports, tax (to a degree) external companies, use the money from that to give subsidies to business owners and farmers.

Contrary to popular belief, business owners are way more happy to give more to productive workers that prove their worth, than workers actually putting a bit of effort into their work.

You pay your productive workers more so they don't leave and possibly get replaced by a slacker, your productivity rises and your worker is happier that he now gets more money. The money earned this way is usually invested and further increases the income of the company -> the productive workers get another raise.

Assume for a second this is real and accurate. What do?

I'd agree that we need some nationalism but for me one aspect of this is helping your natives. I'm sure some people would just sit on ass all day but I don't see this number being substantially bigger than those who already do.

Would Sup Forums like UBI more if job guarantee was rolled into it?
