Tolkien > Martin
How can Game of Thrones even compete?
T
This a shit comparison. It should be the virgin GOT and the Chad Rome, LOTR is a fucking movie.
heh SJWS BTFO'd shadilay my fellow kekistanis
game of thrones is as much a redditor's tv show as rick and morty
You forgot the best part of LOTR.
fuck me thats one cringeworthy maymay
not Sup Forums, but what is a good fantasy novel if you like certain elements of asoiaf/got (moral ambiguity, machiavellianism, sex, frequent character deaths, etc.) but dislike all the normie concessions and feminist pandering? as much as i love lord of the rings, i think it's cool for there to be something grittier out there, but i feel like asoiaf/got undermines the whole thing with all the strunk women shit and pretty much having all the good characters (who are mostly clearly good) behave too much like modern liberal westerners rather than people living in a society with medieval cultural values. would love to see a fantasy novel where the hero, for example, is someone who thinks rape during military conquest is perfectly acceptable. but the got audience flipped out over even having jamie kind of sort of but not really rape cersei.
I mean I don't think anyone's going to defend GRRM against Tolkein. You should probably make a chad version of the Eragon series to compare if you want to bait people.
>fantasy
>fiction
>reddit memes
Why don't you grow up
Historical dramas get into that kind of thing. I remember the main character of Sons by Pearl S Buck giving his troops rape/looting limits on cities he conquered, recognizing that they need an incentive to fight but weighing that against the future subservience of conquered peasantry. I'm sure there's plenty of stuff in fantasy but it's bound to not be as popular.
just change it to chad GOT and virgin LOTR and it's 300 replies guaranteed
That and he straight up rapes a bitch.
why are white males so fragile and easily triggered?
Women in positions of power aren't cool like dragons, zombies, magic, and huge explosions. Just distracting and unconvincing, especially when adapted to film/television so you also get reminded that women can't act.
Hillary Clinton lost the election despite the entire media backing her lmao
I like how she then proceeded to blame everyone other than herself, because women inherently lack accountability for their actions. Even presidential candidates.
to a guy who picked up politics as a hobby 2 years ago
>Can't even get a meme right?
You're embarrassing Tolkien.
>Cersei becomes a queen even though it makes no sense
>Sansa doesn't become a queen even though that would have made sense
the writers are just shit
fuck off sandnegro
lotr
>only used cgi when needed
thats because, it was made in a time, when cgi was super limited.
some years later he would probably cgi'ed everything hobbit
>epic battle scenes
at least the looked good, but the fights itself where boring af, especially in rotk.
got
>not naming a single good thing
got is all about character interaction
first seasones were so good, because there were no big fights.
most of the cgi is top notch
but yeah, fuck the dragon mama. cant wait to see her get killed by jon.
because she isn't jewish unlike trump
Hillary lost expecially because all media supported her
sorry but after the lost election this isnt a legitimate argument anymore, never in my life have i seen the entire elite establishment, media an politicians almost on the entire globe lose their shits soo thoroughly and reveal just how biased they truly were in the election. This was the only time i have ever seen them especially the media react that way complete shock, surprise and throwing around insults and feels as argument. First time i have ever seen something like that.
It's always so easy to just blame it on sexism when it comes to female characters
Sansa and Daenerys are simply annoying and boring while Cersei taking the throne was stupid and unrealistic
obvious bait, but i'll bite: it's not so much i have an issue with strong female characters (cersei is one of my favorite characters on the show). it's the sheer volume of them. there have been strong female leaders throughout history, but they were the exception not the rule in a world where power and physical strength reign supreme. yes, there are dragons, zombies, magic, etc., but this is fantasy, so there's no issue there. the distinction is that grrm/d&d try to present this gritty universe that is supposed to be the antithesis of traditional fantasy and the constant bleed in with 2017 cultural values breaks the very rules they've tried to set up. it just seems so absurd to me that tywin lannister and littlefinger exist in the same universe as lady mormont and the sand snakes.
Jesus Christ you fucking virgins, you are missing the poi t of the meme. It's not Chad =Good Virgin = Bad
Both were just exagerations, why would anything in fantasy be Chad anyway? Fantasy is escapism and Chad doesn't need it, you don't suddenly become hyper chads by putting your interests and likes in Chad section, fucking retard.
Tolkien is to creative literary genius what Martin is to hack pulp idiocy. They both so far surpass anyone else in their field that they will be remembered 1,000 years from now as a kind of yin and yang of fantasy, a Manichean duality of speculative letters. For every sublime, luminous beauty that Tolkien has gifted the world, Martin has cursed us with a tedious, banal ugliness. It is unfair to compare the two directly on any one point, because Martin is in every way the anti-Tolkien, patently sterile, parasitical, and inferior, but so much so that he becomes a monument in his own right, and counterbalances Tolkien. Could one exist without the other? Tolkien obviously could. But it is only by the contrast that Martin offers that we can truly appreciate the full depths and heights of Tolkien. Our understanding of Tolkien would be incomplete if Martin had never set pen to page. It is through only the abject failure and futility of Martin that we can approach an apprehension of the true scope and scale of Tolkien's hitherto inconceivable greatness. Perhaps this is what Tolkien had in mind when he wrote about the Music of the Ainur. If Tolkien is a subcreator in the image of Eru, truly Martin is like unto Melkor. It is only reflected in the awfulness of the one that we can fully see the goodness of the other.
>the virgin whiny paragraph
>the chad self-referencing greentext quip
How can anyone even disagree with that?
George Martin hasn't finished his series and probably never will.
There's no comparing Martin to Tolkien.
underrated
What a virgin post
>Being on Sup Forums and not being virgin.
Eh if anything the idea seemed to be that the virgin one is supposed to hit close to home to your average Sup Forums faggot and the chad was over exaggerated opposite of everything about that
brute, almost realistic middle-ages GoT >>>> fairy tale LotR with b&w bland characters
...
>87962802
not worth a (you)
Tolkien couldn't write characters
(((Rodham)))
Sure she isn't.
>Chad Rome
Wrong. It's Virgin Rome and Chad I, Claudius
