This is praised as one of the greater movies of all time but it really felt mediocre. Is there some deeper meaning or appreciate for it I don't understand? It's just hours of people killing and hurting each other over drugs/nothing. Li'l ze especially just seemingly likes killing people for no reason at all, just because he's a psychopath I guess. The only really poignant scene that stuck out to me is near the end when you see the 12 year old kids talk about killing others, highlighting the slums would always be a crime infested hellhole.

It is praised because it has original enjoyable setting. It tries to portray Brazil somewhat realistically instead of the caricature that it often is in US movies.
