I like films which take their time to establish atmosphere and flesh out characters, slowly ratcheting up tension to a feeling of dread. There aren't many like that nowadays, they are now aimed at kids with short attention spans who would regard it as slow and boring. Pic related is such a slow-burner film, what others are there?

the fan I just watched it for the first time and it's basically what you described its basically like taxi driver and king of comedy with a slower buildup. its especially interesting because the protagonist started out as a pretty normal guy with bad tendencies which came out because of events in his life. does anyone know more movies like the ones I named ?
