The Killing Joke Movie and The Problem With Comics

Thought this was a good look at the trainwreck that was the animated movie

youtube.com/watch?v=4xRDiUD1a8c

this guy is a numale hack

but hes kinda right tho. couldn't put into words why the funhouse scene was off but it was pretty much what he said

Go back to school Sargon.

Don't you have some cultural marxists to uncuck or something?

tl;dw? Is he saying the problem with comics is that they're edgy? DC has been anything but that for years. Same with Marlel

>tl;dw? Is he saying the problem with comics is that they're edgy?
Yes, but exclusively 90s comics.
He also pointed out there's 30 minutes of pointless filler and the background has nowhere near enough detail, e.g. Harvey dent in Arkham.

It's stuff you've probably heard before if you spent a month on Sup Forums talking about the movie afterwards, but put together in a very coherent and interesting way.

>numale

How to disregard a post in one simple step

numale spotted

>Alan Moore ruined comics
>Look at these dumb characters Leifeld made

There's something to be said about people poorly emulating what made Moore's work good but the result wasn't those '90s eXXXtreme characters. Those were just for kids dumb enough to think they were cool.

>t. numale

Thanks for the (You)s, guys. I felt a little lonely but your attention is appreaciated

I feel like you can kind of blame that on Moore. You had all these idiots who read the mature storylines they wrote and said "awesome! Comics can be dark now!"

Numale and a faggot.

>obligatory bitching about muh edgy nineties ruined kamix because nobody understand watchmen like I do
>bitching about the pointless filler while he knows very well WB had to do shit like that to minimize """"feminist critique"""" about muh babs having no characterization except for being shot
I quit at "if I was making Yhe Killing Joke adaptation..."
Didn't even watch the movie, it's probably shit, but I watched circa 10 minutes of that guy pontificating about it and he's definitely a faggot.

>big two
>anything good ever

You faggots deserve this

Another (You)?, thank you

It was going pretty great until

>WOMEN HAVE NO CHARACTERS TO IDENTIFY WITH IN COMICS

It's easier to spout ignorant bias that will guarantee you hits than informing yourself and creating a much less sensationalized opinion

You can always rely on Sup Forums to disregard everything someone says if they catch a whiff of the evil SJW

>but put together in a very coherent and interesting way.
shill much?

I wrote a comment on this video and the guy that made it replied to almost right away, so you know he is the one who made this thread

I just like his editing style

>while he knows very well WB had to do shit like that to minimize """"feminist critique"""" about muh babs having no characterization except for being shot
Even if that were true, that's not an excuse for doing it terribly.

They don't. Even if you dont see it as a problem I dont know how you can argue with it. They're all designed for men. WW was basically a soft porn character from the 40s. Virtually every female character looks like a porn star

That's not what he actually said, though? The point was that there's a tendency in comics to treat female characters marginally, and that it's a good idea to try and not turn off half your potential audience. That's it. Nothing like "THERE ARE NO FEMALE FRIENDLY CHARACTERS IN COMICS." I swear, Sup Forums is more hypersensitive about this stuff than actual tumblrites nowadays.

Man, it's been a while I've seen a video take such a nosedive halfway through.

I have not disregarded anything. It's a shit stain on a pretty good paper

>They're all designed for men

Do tell what makes it so? I'm not saying they aren't, but how does that detract from the female audience needs/desires?

>Virtually every female character looks like a porn star
Same thing goes for male characters. They're all either buff athletic or just swole as fuck, wearing skin tight clothing.

To say they're made "for men" is just short sighted. They were likely made with that intent in mind, but in the end they're just idealized figures of masculinity and femininity, which does not detract from anyone provided they adhere to standard view of beauty.

Not to mention that having someone to identify with in fiction is completely unnecessary.

Not to mention that having someone to identify with that looks like you*

>That's not what he actually said, though?
>ending a declarative statement with a question mark
What a surprise, a tumblr immigrant spouting tumblr rationalizations. You don't need to tow the party line out here, nobody can blacklist you for wrongthink when you're user.

>there's a tendency in comics to treat female characters marginally
What does that even mean?

Wow, you losers must be really desperate for fresh insults now that even cuck's been run into the ground by all the other 16 year olds.

The video needs a triggering warning for alt-righters

Why does everyone hate Spawn again?

This was a really good video, up until the point where he makes the claim about women and never bothers to explain it. Probably because the points he would make are easily disputed.

>disagreement with sjw nonsense is now being alt right

Beats me.
Stuff like Spawn and Darkness are like Lordi music for me. Yes it's stupid but it's so fun in how stupid it is. It's not offensively bad, especially if you've read actually bad comics.

He made some great points about the missing background details, particularly the plaque and Two-Face's cell.

TKJ movie just gets worse and worse the moment the more you think about it.

Lordi is just plain old Raimi-style fun. It's not meant to be super serious dark. And now I have to go watch their Blood Red Sandman video again. It's been years.

Just saw this movie after reading the comic

Movie was loads better, the comic was boring as fucking hell, Joker escapea, shoots bads and takes Gordan's on a crazy ride, then nothing happens. Literally the ONLY redeeming quality to KJ is the original coloring, but that's it. I honestly don't see why this comic gets such praise, Death of the Family had more going for it than KJ did, and DotF made me completely drop all bat related titles in New 52.

Can someone who really enjoyed the Killing Joke comic explain to me what makes it so good to casuals? Because I feel like I got ripped off buying that comic and want my ten dollars back.

You need better bait. Don't give away your intentions with the image filename

Fair enough, but in all seriousness, Killing Joke was a fucking awful comic saved only by the inker, I don't see why people hype it up as one of the best Batman comics of all time, is it just because it was baby's first Joker comic, or because it was written by Moore? Either way I'd much rather read Azzerello's Joker rather than KJ, at least Joker was a decent read.

Look, you can act like the voice of reason all you want by using that picture, but that doesn't make it true.

And a lot of New 52 has all kinds of issues that have nothing to do with Death of the Family.

I think the only Bat title I even like in 52 isn't even a Batman title, it's Batwoman.

Of course, that's like, my opinion.

Still, I also feel like Batman being constantly one upped by "SUPER INTELLIGENT AND COMPETENT VILLAINS" is kind of shitty. Also the Court of Owls, which comes completely out of left field and demands respect and relevance where it does nothing to deserve it. It's like shitty fan-fic with a POWERFUL NEW ORIGINAL THREAT THAT THREATENS BATMAN!.

Oh, and the whole thing with Riddler? Fuck that noise. RIddler, at his best, is not that kind of character. I'm sorry. He's too essentially broken and crippled by his delusions of grandeur to actually pull off something like that.

I thought the comic was shit and the first half of the movie was better then the actual adaption of the comic.

The only bits from New 52 Batman that I enjoyed were the first half of Court of Owls, that ending though, hot damn did Synder shit the bed with that, and a single issue from Detective Comics wherein we find out that Ivy has been sending letters to Clayface in prison, sending him flowers and stuff. The whole "I hit Basil in a place I didn't even k ow he was vulnerable, his heart." It might be corny, but I really liked that.

New 52 may have had a ton of problems for Batman and bat books, but it was DotF that broke the camel's back so to say. Rebirth has been good for some bat titles though.
