Probably
no zerkalo and in two minds are better
its just a shitty braveheart
in what way? Barry isn't even Scottish, he's Irish
Rankings don't really exist, the closest you could come is to put things on tiers. This is a high tier movie though for sure.
Nah, gotta be Meet Joe Black.
It's one of the best, but not the most. There's no such thing as one single best film in any aspect.
>cinematography
it's not a real job. it's either a director's assistant or a title you give to rich investor's nephew.
Paris, Texas has some beautiful shots, both indoor and outdooor.
kys sneed samefag
I remember watching this in highschool English class, did not know it was a Polanski movie
No, England is an ugly gray shithole no matter how good of a cinematographer you hire
Taxi Driver is a better candidate
It was good for its time, but the image it's too blurry. Unironically most of Lubezki's works look better than this.
>I remember watching this in highschool English class
It's a 3 hour long film. What kind of English class runs 3+ hours?
>but the image it's too blurry
What do you mean - the detail, the grain, the softness, or what? Criterion is releasing it, entirely new scans, and aspect ratio will be fixed.
>What kind of English class runs 3+ hours?
the proper kind, philistine
obviously we didn't watch it all in one class you dumbass
>pausing a film one you've started watching it
>intermissions the length of classes
What an absolute pleb teacher you must have had, absolutely no appreciation for film.
yeah I was really upset about getting to watch kino for a week instead of listening to a lecture
He's not talking about the title, he's talking about the thing itself dummy.
No
It's like a bunch of still boring lifeless paintings with no energy or emotion. It's all very museum tour in terms of its aesthetic. I like the movie but it's tremendously overrated
I present a better movie
i get stoned and rewatch barry lyndon a few times a month
I don't usually pay much attention to this website but this list I've found to be fairly accurate :

Also this one: imdb.com
Both films have Days of Heaven and The Conformist in them, which may be pretty good contenders. 2001 and The Tree of Life are also pretty high up there.
I do find some really good looking films though run into the problem of very bad editing, or the type of shot being used doesn't really fit the emotional context of the moment, despite looking good.
The Neon Demon was a pretty good example I think. The film used the same visual tricks over and over again with not much purpose other than looking good, and half the first act looks like it was shot on one damn lens. I know a lot of people liked this film but the whole thing felt extremely forced to me.
Yeah, it's a film that doesn't get brought up often when it comes to visual beauty, although it is one of the best. A perfect golden ratio in almost every shot, which is insane to me because It's much harder to achieve than just following the rule of thirds. The same DP on that movie did stuff for Jim Jarmunsch and Lars von Trier as well, which I think is really cool.
cinematography is not a thing, you naive child
boring but good looking movies thread?
jk Barry Lyndon is a masterpiece
>ruining a film experience
>vs getting an education and leaving film out of the curriculum when it doesn't belong
Underachiever detected.
