>(((EU)))
off course they'd try to suppress the truth

Fuck off. A lot of time and money goes into making shows/movies/games/software/etc. Enjoying the fruits of someone's labor without compensating them is wrong you communist fuck.

I don't really care. But the idea that it's as simple as "just make good movies" is asinine

its not wrong if you'd never buy them in the 1st place

also im not going to spend $40 on something im only going to watch once

Oy vey.

WTF I always thought I was harming (((them))) by not paying for their shit.

>I'd never look at a photo of a painting, dude enjoying the fruits of someone's labor without compensating them is wrong you communist fuck
>I'd never enjoy the scenery of well tended garden, dude it's just fucking wrong you cunt
>I'd never admire a beautiful building, enjoying the fruits of someone's labor is literally another shoah, you ignorant goy

Piracy is a legitimate market pressure part of any free market environment, you pinko fuck.

If it's the Swiss study, it said that heavy pirates spend more than the average consumer on the media they pirate. So a movie pirate has a larger home media collection and goes to see more movies than the average consumer of the same media. These are averages, so there are some pirates that spend no money on media, and also super consumers that pirate and buy a ton of shit.

>Piracy.
This term should not apply to P2P.

Old pirates were useful stooges for east india compapny to keep prices high and their services need.

p2p users dont do that for warner bros etc.

>I d-d-didn't want it anyway!

Then why pirate?

This. Every freeloading anti-capitalist fucktard defending piracy ITT need to be taken out back and shot in the face. Or at least have their parent's internet connection cut so they have to stew in their own degeneracy.

Capitalists benefited from pirates in the sea though.

and P2P users can not be called pirates as the entire relationship is different between them and production/distribution/studio companies.

>The only negative link the report found was with major blockbuster films: "The results show a displacement rate of 40 per cent which means that for every ten recent top films watched illegally, four fewer films are consumed legally."

The report was about games, it has a different impact on film

>pirate a game/movie
>if its good, buy it later to support the devs/people making it
>if its shit, no money lost
I don't like throwing my money to chance.

Let's be real, if film dies
it dies

Good riddance

This ignores that anti-piracy measures are both ineffective and unnecessary and only really harm legitimate consumers.

by having the study suppressed

But they do for vidya
> piracy is used as an excuse for DRM
> baught games can not be resold second hand
> the market with infinite supply and finite demand is therefore immune to the market forces
> can sell ancient shir for full price

ho yeah didn't think games you're right.

its all locked down on digital sales now so you cant even loan them or like you said, sell them

EU already ruled that the rights of first sale are valid for digital goods, but nobody enforces it. US better catch up soon or vidya is dead. This fuckery is what allows the detachmwnt of sales from quality.

I buy or stream things when I can, but I'm too poor to buy every single thing that never comes to streaming services and I don't want to watch most of it enough that I'd shell out $20-30 for it

With people like this they really aren't losing much money because we wouldn't spend the money on it in the first place. I'm not saying that it's morally right, but to say its costing them millions in lost revenue is bullshit

>Enjoying the fruits of someone's labor without compensating them is wrong

I don't care though

>Enjoying the fruits of someone's labor without compensating them is wrong
HAHA!!! Suck it, Picasso!

entrance to the louvre isn't free, and they paid they either paid the previous owner for the painting, or it was willingly donated

They were already compensated.

To decide if it deserves to be bought.

>pirates would buy things if they couldn't pirate

You'd have to be a ratard to believe this

Meanwhile, piracy/pirating is still illegal in (((Germany)))

In 90% of cases if I don't pirate it, I don't watch or play it.

Most of the time I don't even bother pirating anymore and will just forget it even exists.

Make something worth it and my money is all yours.

I wouldn't watch your movie if I didn't pirate it.
Piracy isn't my alternative to buying your movie. You never had my money in the first place.

>(You)

same. sad state of affairs when shit isn't even worth pirating anymore

>entrance to the louvre isn't free
It is if you're 18, or between 18 under 25 and live in a EU country.

Huh I guess we should burn all libraries down then

I can't believe this post hasn't got any upvotes yet it was a really good one

I spend more money on blu rays and merchandising because i can pirate and find out if i like something.

I end up getting the collector editions that are more expensive

I would go to the cinema and pay for a ticket if I weren't an autist with anxiety. Bless piracy.

>games
You can fuck off.

I pirated all the COD games and really enjoyed playing them

Yeah but limp wristed faggots like you can do shit.

Maybe because of false equivalency.

...

>piracy is communism
oh plz, piracy is libertarianism.
we all know that something like art and culture doesn't exist under communism because all that stuff is just the opium for the masses.
If we want to truly achieve our Communist Utopia we have to rid the world of all distractions, drivel and degeneracy. We need a Cultural Revolution like China had.

Actually, it's free on sunday, but there's a lot of visitors

I'm still gonna do it though, and there's a plethora of evidence showing that it has no effect on anyone.

I was replying to someone here, not /v

I used to think this, but then I realised Hollywood was was rotten to the core and needs to collapse, the fact that liberals suffer as a result is just a bonus.

no one actually does this

this. I'm kind of disappointed because I despise hollywood

This kill the jew

>Enjoying the fruits of someone's labor without compensating them is wrong you communist fuck.

Intellectual "property" isn't real property

>this is how brainwashed americunts are
if you download movies thats communism! don't steal from mr shekelberg, he worked alot on his propaganda film or superhero movie!

Im interested in the methods used.
It was probably was 'suppressed' because it wasnt scientific

...

>implying your shit would be in the louvre

t. shlomo kikestein

maybe because it comes from a non (((sponsored))) study

It's too bad that piracy doesn't harm sales, I would hope that it does because filmmakers deserve to start losing money for their godawful creations

Piracy is great for capitalism, it encourages producers to make better products

Intellectual property and copyrights are communist.

>i am sure they have a good reason guys they aren't really evil

how tedious.

It's because most people who pirate wouldn't have bought it in the first place

I end up buying a lot of physical media that I initially pirated.

Guess what, I don't end up buying mediocre shit pumped out by greedy (((people))).

I do this. Last game I purchased this way was Minecraft. I've pretty much stop playing all video games now though. Everything is just shit or a monumental time sink for monthly shekel payments.

>Paying for Jewish propaganda
No thanks.

Yeah it was suppressed so hard it was reported by msm in the current year.

Fake news.

What's their angle?

You mean when they multiply the full price of every single piece of media ever downloaded and then claim that the industry "lost" billions in sales that's not true? I am shocked that they would lie like this, shocked I tell you.

Congolmerate corporations that produce media have long been working with governments around the world to protect their property and if they can get a study to justify legislation it's a huge win for them. There aren't any lobbyists for pirates, clearly they had intended the study to show the opposite of what it showed.

So you are sure the Study is scientific without reading it just because it was suppressed, lmao. The definition of contrarian.

>[boot licking intensifies]

Then why was it reported by a billion dollar media conglomerate?

I don't buy it.

Because I'm broke as fuck. I enjoy the things I pirate but I'd never buy them because I can't afford it.

I used to do this when I was poor. Knew several people that did this as well.

Is this like the study that showed that smoking doesn't cause cancer?

journaloftheoretics.com/editorials/vol-1/e1-4.htm

Plebs haven't figured out yet that Hollywood isn't a real business, and at the end of the day don't ultimately care if you pay for their propaganda and social engineering as long as you consume it

Yeah! Fight the Power! Slaaaayyyy

Trex/

/thread

yeah but i don't want to spend my limited money on things that aren't good and piracy allows me to avoid that

if it's good and i have the money i'll buy it, but i have to be able to try it first

How about you read it yourself?

juliareda.eu/wp-content/uploads/2017/09/displacement_study.pdf

This is a good thing, because it will prevent future jack&jill movies from being made because people won't buy shit if they've already tasted it.

this is a shill

I suspect is pretty much the case

OP is fake news

Good job not reading the study, this only applies to music and games, piracy does hurt movies and TV shows.

FINALLY someone posted it!
>305 pages
Yeah it'll take a while...

tl, dr version anyone?

if you think piracy doesn't hurt music you're either a literal teenage or a fucking retard.

I have no interest in video games, but I 'm sure it's the same deal.

Stop believing bullshit you read in the msm and use common sense.

>this only applies to music and games, piracy does hurt movies and TV shows
how are movies and music/games different? Why piracy affects movies and TV? serious question

old news

I'm only quoting the study you illiterate mongoloid

You've been proven empirically wrong.
Just shut the fuck up already.

if the msms covered this 'study' it's bullshit as well.

when will anons learn not to trust this bullshit and think critically?

fake news

>I don't do this, so nobody does this

Ranting about msms and fake news like a two digit IQ subhuman is not an argument. The study is easily accessible, if you have a problem with its methodology make a sound argument against it. Otherwise fuck off, retarded faggot.

empirically wrong by what?

A cooked up study by some '''noble prize'' winning research firm and reported by the lying press?

Fuck off.

You don't have to trust shit.
The study is literally public and accessible to everyone.
juliareda.eu/wp-content/uploads/2017/09/displacement_study.pdf

From page 27 onwards they describe how they did the study. They surveyed 30000 people from different countries and analyzed their answers
through the socioeconomical lens of their respective country, together with the copyright laws.

The evidence they're reporting is that there's no strong correlation between cracking down piracy or piracy rates and sales numbers.

If you think spouting unsourced bullshit that's mostly campaigned by the lobbies that have much to win about this is "common sense" you're a fucking moron.

Now go ahead and claim how the study was manufactured and it's all 300 pages of fake news, despite the fact that it was commissioned by the organization that precisely wanted the opposite result.

Love it when trumpniggers believe thinking critically means dismissing anything they don't like

Go back to

It's not really about harming sales. It's part of a bigger plan to clamp down on the free and open internet (which we already have, by the way. Or did.) So-called "Net Neutrality" laws will do the same thing.

...

please create something so i can steal it
