I'm halfway through season 1, does this get any better? Seems extremely bland compared to trek, but I understand it's season 1

Apparently the first or second seasons seem to be pretty rough for most people, but it definitely gets better. I fucking love the show and rewatch all of it every summer so I'm probably not the best person to judge it objectively, though.
Pretty reassuring. I figured since it went on 10 seasons it had to be at least good.
I remember watching this when I was younger it was great
Like a lot of old scifi it take a while to get itself going, but it does get better.
Stargate Universe>SG-1
What I really enjoy about SG-1 is how all our gods are a lie.
I really like SGU also. Was really disappointed when it was cancelled. Season 2 was better than season 1.
It actually made me jaded against the supposed "fans" of Stargate and sci-fi in general, because at that time the fans lead SGU, Sarah Connor Chronicles, and Dollhouse all to be cancelled.
The first and last seasons of SG-1 are probably the worst ones of any SG. Atlantis is good but not as good as SG-1 at its prime, and Universe gets a lot more hate than it deserves.
...
I liked Atlantis a lot, but it's almost like they figured out the formula TOO well, SG-1 just feels more creative and rich than Atlantis. That said, Atlantis is still quite amazing and I was impressed with how unique the episodes were even through five seasons (5?) of Atlantis even after TEN seasons of SG-1. Even the episodes that did have old ideas were new, like the "regular guy gets superpower and can't turn it off" episodes in both shows.
Fucking 4chanX

Whenever I rewatch it I start out at season 2. Season 1 isn't very good except a few key episodes like solitude's. If you have doubts, jump ahead and season 4, window of opportunity to see what's in store
It helped that the city gave them a lot to work with, even more than just the gate did. And the cast was top tier, even better than in SG1.
suffer through season 1 at least once, it's a bit rough, but the world building in that series is some of the best there is. You do feel like you are really watch a civilization become space faring, so when they get to building ships, you can look at all the reactors, weapons they use and point to when they discovered, built, or who gave them the tech. They do build off most of the episodes, even a few in season 1.
Gotta admit those stones were the dumbest shit
Eh, they were better than the original zats and much more important to the plot.
They would've been fine if everyone that used them didn't use them to fuck around in other peoples' bodies.
>it's been gone for longer that it was on air for
They're trying to breath some life back into it, but I'm not so sure about it.
>does this get any better?
No. It actually gets more bland, more repetitive, and when it was moved to Sci Fi Channel and cancelled there was a spinoff called Stargate Atlantis that was even more repetitive, and bland.
still think they jumped into all of that a bit too quick and then when they did accelerated technologically way too rapidly
would've been more satisfying if they kept it really slow. I'm not a fan of the Ori or their arc and thought the Replicators were poorly used
