It's one of the funniest and strangest metal scenes on the globe. Africa is generally metal free, but then you have Botswana which has more metalheads in Botswana alone than metalheads in the rest of Africa combined.
Bands are pretty underwhelming though. It's mostly third-rate death metal.

I hate stereotypical metal. The only metal, or music for that matter, that I can really appreciate are the ones pushing the envelope in their genre. A lot of progressive metal is actually regressive these days because it's just a bunch of fags with gauged ears, beards, and tattoos hitting the low strings on 8 string guitars. AKA "djent". But there are a few acts that I would consider very progressive that I can really get behind. Like The Contortionist, Amogh Symphony, Between The Buried And Me, Cynic.

Not really. Besides Obscura, Gorguts is really fucking boring, and Obscura only gets its praise for doing and popularizing dissonance in death metal first. It's not a bad album by any means, it's really great, but just because a band releases one good album doesn't make the band good, especially when the rest of their discog is pretty generic and unmemorable.

It's good to have music that pumps you up, and nothing does that like metal. I am so fucking sick of going to the gym and it's just that 'tonight's gonna be a good, good night' every day for like 5 years. It makes me so mad when the nigger starts singing 'masseltov!' While we're on the subject, the amount of race mixing they blast through the screens in those anthems to miscegenation absolutely sickens me. When you have no sound (headphones in) and just the videos it becomes all the more obvious.
