Weird movies

Tonight I'm in the mood to watch one of those obscure, dark and ominous movies that kind of flow under the radar. I have Inland Empire on my backlog, what else should I watch?

did anyone else get a Lynchian vibe from this flick?

>Inland Empire
>Obscure
>Directed by one of the most well known American directors of all time

It's an underrated movie but you're absolutely retarded

watch inland empire

Inland Empire

...

watch kill list. fucking unreal movie

Enter the void is really really good, promise.

distressing kino

I watched that one. Didn't really like it. I'm looking for something more akin to Lake Mungo.

>creepy atmosphere
>surreal plot

etc.

Then please add your suggestion, user.

Visitor Q and pic related

go outside and ask 100 people if they've ever heard of or seen Inland Empire.

anyway check this out, OP.

The Manchurian Candidate remake with Denzel has a weird feel to it. I didn't like the film, but I can't take away from what was executed.

Thank you. Also, would Jacob's Ladder qualify for what I'm looking for?

>Over 3 hours long
Shall NOT be watching this

>probably spends 3+ hours at a time shipbosting

>Also, would Jacob's Ladder qualify for what I'm looking for?
Yeah, probably. Angel Heart makes a good double feature with that one.

Absolutely.

Cronenberg pretty good.

I still haven't seen any Cronenberg post Dead Ringers. Definitely want to check this and Crash out sometime at least.

Thanks. I also have eXistenZ on the backlog, and have seen Videodrome.

Obviously other Lynch movies if you haven't seen them. Post Tenebras Lux is my other rec
Yeah I was gonna say most Cronenberg would fit the bill

Watch Holy Motors, Suspiria and Berberian Sound Studio

OP here, I've watched Suspiria.

I hope that wasn't because you didn't like dead ringers one of my favs. Naked lunch is another recommendation however that requires a little thought to properly appreciate. The movie is like a big dream of metaphors.

>most well known American directors of all time
literally 0 normies know who Lynch is

Naked Lunch at first just seems like a bunch of random stuff but when you learn about what the metaphor is supposed to be it all falls into place

9/11

Beyond the Black Rainbow

Funny Games

I saw the US version (I was just downloading it again now, great timing). Is the Austrian version better? I mean, it's the same film after all.

It's exactly the same really, but I like the austrian version better because the germans accent somehow sound to me more disturbing and psychotic while in the US version the killers sound too annoying and whiny to me.
I "believe" in the situation more in the original version, but that's really just extremely subjective.

I prefer the Austrian version, actually. Michael Pitt gets on my nerves and I like his Austrian Peter (or is he Paul? I can't remember) counterpart much better. He does a better job of being politely menacing.

...

>flow under the radar
>flow

>literally
>normies
die faggot

watch the holy mountain.

did the normies literally make too much fun of you

No

Mulholland Drive.

I liked Lake Mungo. That and Jacob's Ladder are the two horror movies that affected me the most, I think.

Thisss is a video/audio trip, OP, pic related, watch this.

Inland Empire is by far the weirdest Lynch film, but Mulholland Drive, Lost Highway, and Fire Walk With Me are pretty crazy, too.

I was gonna suggest Dead Ringers, but I guess you've already seen it?: The Brood is pretty good, too.

What is the metaphor? Realizing you're gay and being scared/disgusted?

Oh yeah, also Dogtooth.

That reminds me, Dogville is good too, pic related.

>It's an underrated movie
It's overrated if anything - critics loved it. It's Lynch's other films that are underrated; only Blue Velvet has finally got the recognition it deserves.
Mulholland Drive and Inland Empire were loved by critics.

Added Black Rainbow and The Brood. I love Cronenberg!

Also added some other Lynchkino (Lost Highway, Blue Velvet, Mulholland Drive
