Zero Dark Thirty

Big

boys don't cry, pretty degenerate stuff. but moving.

>oh wow you directed a movie based entirely on a book

way to read my post, retard.

checked

Your post is irrelevant to the subject.

The hurt locker. Overrated, sure. Still gotta give credit I guess.

I checked as well, was not previously aware Big was a penny marshall film.

but the film was better

I guess Kubrick is shit now

...

>implying

Women are very capable of directing well. It's just that the ones who are given opportunities usually work on uninteresting/unambitious projects.

Innocence

I'll give you this one. Are we certain Bigelow is a "she"?

I'd suck her cock

Marina de Van wrote, directed, and starred in this. Unfortunately her career is pretty irrelevant afterwards.

...

>say that women have never created an original movie
>your "rebuttal" is that she made a movie based on a book

Honest question: are you retarded?

Damn didn't know this was directed by a woman

...

kekkkkkkkkkkkkkkk

She's actually fairly prolific but I think most of her other work has faded into obscurity since it didn't court controversy like The Night Porter.

THESE MEN ARE PAWNS

Only absolute underage plebs think writers are more important than directors

Lost In Translation

Can't be fucked to post the image.

raw

did you know ellis wrote a version of the scripted which ended with a musical.. good thing she
and another woman adapted it better for film

>Reni Liefenstahl

Some can be (like Charlie Kaufman), but a good director >>> good writer.

HURR DURR GERMANIC NAMES ARE JEWISH

There are none.

It's Leni Riefenstahl, idiot
Why has it been spoonerized twice in that poster?

are you retarded? her name is Leni Riefenstahl. The first letters are reversed on that poster.

i don't get it

Ishtar ish tarrible

I think Elaine May is seriously underestimated.

She certainly made more good movies than Mike Nichols, whom she used to do a stand-up comedy act with in the 50s, and Nichols is considered a major director.

Her "Heartbreak Kid" from 1972 is the only really dark and cruel movie that has ever been made from a Neil Simon script, which usually have "soft centres" to them. There was a crappy remake in 2007 with Ben Stiller which makes her movie look all the better.

Film critics tend to praise her most for Mikey and Nicky, in which she directed John Cassavetes and Peter Falk, but I find it unwatchable. She gave the narcissist egomaniac Cassavetes and his best buddy Falk too much leeway and it ends up looking more like a Cassavetes movie than a movie of her own.

Oh yeah, and she did Ishtar. Which is indeed terrible.

Color me surprised. Never thought women had the mental capacity to create such a masterpiece.

>/ss/ themes
Obviously directed by woman, waste of my childhood.

I want to see this but the 200 minute duration is a little off-putting

>Protagonist is completely superficial empty shell

perfect source material to be directed by a woman

...

First they killed my father.

I was really happy with the whole movie and some of the choices for camera positioning
