Burning books is worse. Burning a flag symbolizes your disagreement with that countries actions/policies. Burning books meaans your want to silence a particular viewpoint. You can't have progress without discussion. Burning a flag sparks discussion, burning books is an attempt to silence opposing opinion.

Interesting, symbolically I would say book burning is worse. Censoring ideas seems more unethical than suppressing nationalism generally. Who gives a shit about the national identity of the country I'm posting from for example? They have weed and 140 proof Rum. Though in the age of IT written word is no longer sacred.
