Whats worse Sup Forums... burning your countries flag or burning books?
Flag burning vs Book burning
Burning the American flag is the most American thing you can do.
depends on the flag and the book
the union jack and your favorite book
Welp flag usually symbolizes a state while a boom symbolizes knowledge. I'd choise the flag.
this frenchie gets it
...
burn the flag, because it's not a St George's Cross.
Religion above the state.
It's both stupid as fuck.

Book burning or as it is done today banning websites
Burning books is worse. Burning a flag symbolizes your disagreement with that countries actions/policies. Burning books meaans your want to silence a particular viewpoint. You can't have progress without discussion. Burning a flag sparks discussion, burning books is an attempt to silence opposing opinion.
what makes you different from muslims with that mentality?
Book burning is pointless in the age of the Internet and social media. The equivalent would be censoring the Internet.
This.
Does literally no faggot at all know that burning the American flag is part of a procedure in which an old American flag is replaced by a new one (Flag retirement service)? The country in which the most American flags are burned is the United States itself for fuck's sake. Why have I never heard someone mention this before?
I was mostly kidding.

burning a flag that way would be a sign of respect though, if you want to show disrespect then you burn a flag in the same intent like you would a book
True, though I doubt that was the method OP was referring to. Think BLM burning and chimping out on the flag.
...
a book is more likely to net you a sustainable fire as there are more combustible materials in it and most flags are made of cheap poly materials that don't burn well
in addition to that a flag is more likely to be damp as they are kept outdoors more often than books and therefore will be less likely to sustain a flame
if i were looking for a challenge i'd burn a flag. in any other condition i'd choose a book.
Burning books is worse. People might have a good reason to burn flag in some 'NotRealCommunismâ„¢' country.
Burning books just robs you of a chance to gather experience and knowledge.
I use pages from the Koran to light my stove
>implying christian values don't almost always align with western laws
>implying that christians are actively trying to subvert the constitution and institute a christian-law court
Nice try, senpai
I guess there's a huge difference between throwing a flag on the ground and lighting it on fire all while filming it with your face covered, and doing it the ceremonial way. I know the question wasn't meant like that, but I'm just surprised no autistic piece of shit has ever pointed this out in the several flag burning thread I've seen on here.
On a more serious note, wouldn't burning the flag in the exact same way, but only with bad intent, make it an offense and thus an actual thought crime? Is burning a flag an offense at all?
...
books.
a flag is a representation of a nation and cant be destroyed
but books are data and can be destroyed
if you burn a flag you can replace the flag as it is easily replicated and as long as there are people who believe in that flag the flag will always exist.
you burn a book, that might have been the very last copy of that book, and its knowledge is lost forever
its like asking whats more important a book or a book cover, a book has the substance where as the cover is just a representation of that book.
you want to burn my flag dont complain when the empire comes for you
Interesting, symbolically I would say book burning is worse. Censoring ideas seems more unethical than suppressing nationalism generally. Who gives a shit about the national identity of the country I'm posting from for example? They have weed and 140 proof Rum. Though in the age of IT written word is no longer sacred. Not everything put to pen is of value. Still as a rule of thumb, I think nationalism in a dogshit country like Pakistan or Myanmar for example means nothing.
>Flag burning
Height of patriotism
>Book burning
Depth of ignorance
burning books symbolises the denial and destruction of knowledge. burning a flag is ok because we can live as ancaps anyway
fpbp
thanks for the flag
Burning books doesn't matter as much with the internet.
WHAT THE FUCK ARE YOU
