The new Rick and Morty episode was probably the worst of the series. It had a great premise, but was ruined by a few very specific instances

They baited us with next episode's description too. It said that "Rick goes up against the President". So everyone assumed it would be an Evil Morty episode but now it turns out it's just the Keith David President.
the stuff you mentioned felt cheap, but i wouldn't mind it were it not such a weak episode in general. some parts with tommy were great, otherwise dull and cliche with a healthy heaping of rebbit dragging it down further
i assume it's the women writers, they're likely given a louder voice in the women-centric episodes (since this one and the mad max one about summer had the same issues)

All the side characters have made this bizarre descent from semi-interesting to just cunts. It's not even flanderization, they've just all become cunts. Summer is a cunt who wants her ex-boyfriend tortured because he may have not liked her tits. Beth allows Rick to abuse the whole family and blames Jerry for it. Jerry is a spineless coward who turns brutally abusive to his own family when he feels like it. They're all cunts.
The best episode of the season featured nothing but variations of Rick and of Morty, and that's not a coincidence.

Pretty much, "fake news" became a popular to write off any negative press that hurt the Democrat agenda (like reports of Hillary's health, which ended up being vindicated by her fainting at the 9/11 memorial) so Trump appropriated it and ran it into the ground. It was surprisingly successful because people now take the term "fake news" about as seriously as they do "problematic" and "triggered", but in all honesty I doubt Trump thought that far ahead and was just shitflinging.
I'm worried that we'll start seeing neckbeards blowing themselves up like jihadis once Trump is out.

The thing that ruined the episode the most, is that they revealed the guy was fucking and eating things before the play.
