For being 11% of the american population they sure are represented ALOT in hollywood.

There are actually zero blacks in the books except for references to african like countries far away. the black characters in the show are white in the books but are minor enough HBO could diversify.

the game of thrones series isn't really based on medieval europe. huge portions of the books take place in regions that are based on the middle east and north africa and there are a shitload of non-white characters.

very few actual niggers though, mostly it's white people and arab-like people.

Dorne is Middle Eastern/North African. And "daenerys shit" makes up a pretty significant portion of the books. It's sort of the focal point of the most recent one.

Just search the Macdonald clan of scottish history, or the black dinner of 1440, starks are Yorks and lannisters are Lancasters from english history too, a very interesting war called War of the Roses full of backstabbing, seizing the throne, etc.
