(((New York)))

its expensive as fuck

>why is leaving new york CITY the latest trend?
Because big city/metro areas are shit. There is no exception.

Cost of living. Daddy can't pay his little girl's rent anymore so she has to move out to the Midwest in order to rent a studio on a barista's wages.

The answer is butthurt poor fags. It's not an interesting or new discussion. Obviously it's the most dynamic city in the US, though it's in demand and expensive to live in. If you can't afford it, just leave for Buffalo and don't complain on your way out. Plenty of others will happily take your place. This includes David Byrne, Moby, and Patti Smith too.

I grew up on 85th and York, the city is too crowded, its full of faggots, the crime is rising, De Blasio is the worst mayor ever, its too expensive, the gun laws suck, the commute sucks, everything about it sucks. Its a fun place to live but I'd never move back. Its literally the San Francisco of the East Coast.

There is no redeeming qualities to it anymore. All it is is rich yuppies, BLM-loving hipsters from the midwest, and sky-high rent prices. And Marxist gun laws. Why would anyone want to live there anymore? "guise I live in the city I'm so cultured XD"

t. Stuyvesant graduate

Pretty much this. Over the years they've gradually driven out all the people and things that made it so interesting in the first place. They've made it impossible for artists to live here, destroyed all of the personality of neighborhoods like LES, and now even the boroughs are becoming yuppie faggot land with high rise condos.

So all the assorted rejects from the flyover states that we get by the busload every year come here and mistake whatever vapid shit the hipsters are doing for culture, and imitate, and the next generation imitates them, and it turns into a hideous parade of eternal shame and faggotry.

I don't know why I still live here. I think about shooting myself sometimes. At least the bars stay open late

Poor fag detected (of the self-hating homosexual variety).

>All it is is rich yuppies, BLM-loving hipsters from the midwest, and sky-high rent prices.
Nah, it's still the most creative city in the US with the best restaurants, the best live music, the best art, and the best almost-anything-else-you-can-fucking-name.

>Marxist gun laws.
The gun laws are suitable. I've been mugged at gunpoint on Manhattan. I didn't like reading about what happened at J'Ouvert this week. There's little need for guns in the city. Second Amendment fags can suck their own weenies.

Posting from a luxury condo in the East Village right now. Fuck all you plebs.

Serious question: why do so many of the richest people in the world choose to live in NYC if it isn't so fucking good?

>t. liberal transplant

If you were really from the city you'd be pissed at what its become under De Blasio too.

And the East Village is garbage go get shanked in needle park

>guise I live in the city I'm so cultured XD
>So all the assorted rejects from the flyover states that we get by the busload every year come here and mistake whatever vapid shit the hipsters are doing for culture, and imitate, and the next generation imitates them, and it turns into a hideous parade of eternal shame and faggotry.
You know what's even worse.
Some of them come back to the countryside.
And continue to act like that.
And they blythe the heartland.
It is worse than you know, and you know a lot.

>calling a fast food worker a "barista"
kys

And here we have your garden variety trust fund babby who is probably living in the East Village building that I was recently evicted from despite being an ideal tenant of eight years.

>most creative city in the US with the best restaurants, the best live music, the best art, and blah blah blah

Here we can see him appearing to try and convince others when in fact he is only trying to convince himself that the exorbitant sums daddy is spending to allow him to live there are really worth it when mostly all he does is go to shitty fly-by-night clubs in the meatpacking district and do coke with the others of his kind.

Shame that nigger didn't blow you away fampai

>I've been mugged at gunpoint in noo yawk so i'm really happy i can't get a gun or i might get mugged in noo yawk

libtard logic

I know. Those who move out of the city are even worse than the ones who still live.

Luckily I live in a massive house on the coast of Charleston, SC, and never let anyone fucking know I'm from the city. Thank god I don't have that shit fucking accent.

Can't believe anyone wants to live in that shitheap of a town anymore

>The gun laws are suitable. I've been mugged at gunpoint

What is cognitive dissonance, aka please rape my face, for 6 million shekels, alex?

>literally everything that's not a restaurant or a huge business has been extinguished in the town
>EVERYTHING'S FINE GUYS

NYCunt logic
Liberals destroyed your town, and yet liberals will support it until the whole thing collapses

Shame NYC laws and politics single-handedly keep NY state poor, it's actually a very beautiful place

I hope this refers to the flyover fucktards who want to move to le city that nvr sleeps ;) for the "experience". You fucks are the literal worst and ruin NY's culture. Please let this be the case, nobody fucking wants you here, go home

How can anyone genuinely "like" living in a city? At best, you might develop Stockholm Syndrome over it, but there's nothing in a city you can't get elsewhere these days.

>destroyed your town
>town
Literally discarded right there, I'm not listening to an inbred who can't use basic vocabulary correctly

niggers and liberals

>I live in MD and literally 1/4 of the cars I see driving around have NY plates

Our drivers are already bad enough. Now we have all the New Yorkers here there is so much traffic and accidents. I really wish they would fuck off

Same thing happens in every progressive liberal paradise. I live in Nevada. Californians are fleeing in fucking droves. The taxes are too high, cost of living makes it next to impossible to live there, crime is skyrocketing, politicians try to tell you its illegal to drink a large soda, gun ownership is next to impossible, if you so much as fart you are charged with a hate crime, ect...

...THEN THEY COME TO OUR STATES AND VOTE FOR THE SAME PROGRESSIVE LIBERAL BULLSHIT

>a densely populated area of considerable size, as a city or borough.

What an incredibly NYC thing to say, though
kudos

You'd better be volunteering for Trump, fgt.

Many go out to the island (especially whites). They continue to work in the city though. DeBlasio really took aim at the whiter enclaves in the outer boroughs. An prime example would be paying hotel owners in the area to operate their buildings as homeless shelters. You get tens, sometimes hundreds of broken families becoming residents of an area, changing the dynamics of the schools by taking many of the spots, and the voting in the district.

>libfags leave NY and shit up the rest of the country with their faggotry

great, it's California all over again

hmm shit ! well my niggas, i recently became a published author and i was thinking of moving to NYC to live closer to my agent and publisher - but this thread made my synapses communicated with each other

Last night on the subway commute home I got a good look at the Statue of Liberty, Brooklyn Bridge, and the 9/11 memorial spotlights from my seat.

What did you see looking out the window today?

They're doing the same in VA
I have to restrain myself from giving them a Kentucky Howdy.

Because it smells like transvestite hobo urine.

Because it's filled with transvestite hobos.

And Jews. And all manner of the worst of humanity.

New York is an utter shithole, and whatever scraps of decency it had left with Giuliani.

>tfw descended from Peter Stuyvesant but I'll never run New Amsterdam

Giuliani was just a fucking huckster who took credit for other people's hard work

Clouds, trees, and grass.

I think most cities have a tipping point where if you want to live there it becomes increasingly expensive and costly in other ways ie: quality of life, time, crime etc.

I think that the tipping point is around 5 - 7 million people, obviously it can be increased if the cities are proactive about good public transportation, cycling, proper spending on infrastructure.

Somewhere like Seoul or Tokyo is much more livable than New York City and they're safer too. NY is filthy and really not worth what it costs.

The White House, The Washington Monument, and a black man getting arrested

checkmate

>High taxes
>Corrupt government
>Mafia-run labor unions
>State is a bloated bureaucratic monster
>Nanny-state lite
>City's going back to shit
>Cost of living has spiked to a ridiculous level
>Shitty gun laws
>All the god damned foreigners
>The fucking niggers
Take your pick

>people lacking self awareness and social rejects accumulate in a single city

>these people then generate an entirely new social movement while completely destroying their new home

>these people then move back to wherever they came from or other places, carrying their retardation and corruption with them and not realizing it is what made their city unlivable

Welcome to human society.

We also get taxed to fucking hell (some of the highest taxes in the country) and we get jack shit out of it.
t. Jew-Yorker who moved south

This too, It's fucking disgusting how hipsters find a way to populate and ruin every single city they go to.
It almost makes you wish for another crime wave.

I used to get upset when they called my home state a "flyover" state. Then I realized that it meant that the cucks didn't want to come here. Then I stopped being upset.

This, liberals are a plague.

The changing colors of the leaves. Autumn will be here soon with many more shades of yellow, red and orange as the days go on, and then winter will arrive with snow covering the land and the trees will bloom in the spring. The cherry tree in frot of my place is especially pretty for the one week out of the year that it blossoms.

I hope you don't get tired of seeing the same structures day in day out.

...

>work whole life to buy a home in a decent neighborhood to raise your kids
>faggot mayor buses in hundred of homeless crack addicts that halves the price of your home in seconds

I would be beyond mad.

...

Transplant of twelve years standing.

No trust fund. I found a gf who lives in the East Village, so I moved in. No rent, no expenses, and life is good. I appreciate that most people who live in this area had something fortunate happen in their own lives or in the lives of those close to them. It's definitely overpriced, but that doesn't make it a bad place. The opposite is true -- it'a fantastically exciting and satisfying place.

I mean that tough gun laws are needed because young punks will mug you at gunpoint without tough gun laws. There's no need for handguns in the city except for law enforcement and the military.

ITT many poor fags. The city is fucking great, if you can afford it. You can find your own niche, whatever your interests or politics. No need for everyone else to be envious.

Nobody wants to pay a shit ton of money to live in an ape exhibit.

Fuck off Damn Yankee

I've never been to New York but I'll take a flying guess and go with the same reasons people are leaving London

>overpriced
>multcultural
>shithole

1) vote to import subhumans
2) leave town because it's full of subhumans
3) install yourself in a 100% human town
4) goto 1)

I can tell you typed all this garbage out because you were triggered by the yuppie comment.
Either that or you're a fantastic shitposter.

>Serious question: why do so many of the richest people in the world choose to live in NYC if it isn't so fucking good?
Because it's still one of the biggest centers of business in the world. They call it Jew-York for a reason.

>SC

Greenville born and proudly grew up.

>MUH "So much to do in the city"

Options are literally:

Pay to go eat some shit
Pay to view some shit
Go to central park, literally the only free thing in the city

No riding ATVs, fishing, carpentry, basically any manly hobby

If it can't be done in a small space or in a public street, you can't do it in NY.

Fuck that noise. Only things worth a shit are museums. Everything else is an extended shopping mall.

If it makes you feel any better I'm living in Atlanta which is filled to the brim with niggers.

>eat shit
>get called out on eating shit
>oh wow you are just jealous that you can't afford this shit haha shut up poorfag

That is you right now.

I'm honestly just sick of this cliched discourse "New York is over," "New York is dead," "CBGBs is totally closed," "I can't live for free in a squat and play in my punk band."

Of course it costs some fucking money to live in the city but that's because so many others want to live here. It's competitive. You have to have something going for you to make it in the city now, rather than in the 70s when it was a crime-ridden shit hole. NYC is not all yuppies and trust-fund babies. It's a great place, though butthurt faggots with no money like to shit talk the place.

This. Left with my gf last December. Now I soak up the Rays in Florida all year long. Fuck that shit hole.

So you're the boyfriend of a trustfund baby and mooch off the success of others?

You're actually worse than a trustfund baby, you're not a man.

spot on m8
Also hipster trash from every corner of the country wants to live here.

its a big shit city, it stinks, its expensive and its too loud.

Farms, horses, few cottages and a river.

Rather be comfy youth, lived in a city briefly and i just hated it.

Pic related

>Nah, it's still the most creative city in the US with the best restaurants, the best live music, the best art, and the best almost-anything-else-you-can-fucking-name.

Nope, that would be Austin.

>Lived in a major city near Atlanta
Actually, I take that back. I feel sorry for you.

Atlanta is a tough place man. If you can, you should get out of that city.

>meeting girlfriend downtown after her work for movie
>live in Bronx (I'm white I promise)
>movie starts at 5:40
>walk to subway
>on subway platform at 4:30
>express train service has been cancelled for no reason and without announcement
>take local train
>local train massively delayed because it's the 2 and somebody got knifed or something in Times Square
>finally reach transfer point at bottom of the Bronx
>get on downtown 5
>conductor comes on: "Laeez n gennulmun, dis a brooklyn bound 5 express train. due to abnormal circumstances, we'll be travelling down the west side"
>everybody screams and shouts and hoots and hollers and runs upstairs to catch the 4, which for some reason is on a separate level
>it's delayed
>finally comes
>everybody gets on, crowded, sweaty
>no AC
>get to movie 40 minutes late
>girlfriend is mad
I swear to god I'm leaving this place when my lease is up

What year do you graduate? Did classes start yet?

Judge as hard as you want. BF's daddy is a billionaire (not even kidding). Life is good for me as a result. I can impartially assess the city and conclude that it's fucking great. And I know that you hate me now and that hate is envy. Everyone else should just admit that NYC is pretty fucking amazing and a cool place to live, if you have the right situation that makes it possible.

I'm not poor either; it's just how circumstances panned out for me.

I can at least agree with being sick of people saying "New York is dead"
It was never really good to begin with, it was only an acquired taste. I think a lot of that shit comes from people who have high hopes for NYC only to be disillusioned once they finally visit or move in. It's been the case for pretty much 100 years now.

I like Austin a lot, but it doesn't have the critical mass to produce the energy of NYC. Just check out the latest roster of James Beard Award winners for confirmation. Austin definitely wins for bats, though.

Old fag

>What did you see looking out the window today?

This.

And a small gender correction; I'm male and she's female. Fucked up Freudian slip there.

>Friday night
>drunk home alone shit posting while gf is out getting bbc
>g-greatest city ever!

When you raise the minimum wage you have to raise rent, when you raise rent you have to build affordable housing, when you build affordable housing you have to raise taxes, when you raise taxes people get laid off, when people get laid off they leave the city, and this is how you hollow out the economy of a major metropolitan area.

Jew York sucks, never go there.

t. NYC resident

Hey what do you look like senpai? You gonna be walking around the neighborhood tomorrow?

No. It's always been the US center for:
- finance
- art
- architecture
- dance
- restaurants
- new musical genres
- tourism
- design
- gay liberation
- publishing
- media moguls
- opera
- and many, many other categories.

If you don't like that stuff and prefer a quiet, withdrawn country life, then that's cool. The point is that NYC can't plausibly be argued to be a shitty place, unless not being able to afford it is your main position.

Born and raised in Crooklyn and you are so right.
I never cared much for Hip Hop but even that shit in NYC is starting sux ass too.

GF is asleep. Thanks for checking.

Old and happy. Look out for me. I'll be buying some premium produce at Union Square Market tomorrow. The guy with a big smile.

Probably expensive as hell, and too diverse for sane people.

This. I'm fucking tired of this shit. Why do hipsters think being a barista makes them high-class somehow? How is it any better than working at McDonald? It's all fucking food service work for christs sake.

Bunch of pretentious assholes

>New York City 1950: 96% white
>New York City 2016: 27% white

Hmm I wonder...

Cool. See you tomorrow.

>big smile
>in nyc

Should have no trouble finding you.

they then move to south florida telling us how to live and go on to complain about cubans. fuck these kike lovers.

New yawk is just a big beurocratic mess.

Whenever I think of new york I think of grimy subways, cottupt politicians

Deblasio and Cuomo and the NY Democrat elite are like a mafia, even Republican politics is the same.

i have a cousin that wirks at a starbucks. fucking tool bag.

probably same as sweden

those numbers are starting to come up though.

Worst thing happening here is the chicks buying up brownstones and putting up the god awful stainless steel all over the place.

Except austin is beginning to suffer from the same problems. When I lived there, in 2006, you might have been right. Now it's being ruined by commercialism and liberal hipsters. Same thing is happening to St. Paul, where I moved after austin, which used to be a wonderful city for art. Now it caters to hipsters and trendy 20 something's and nobody else can afford to live there.
Now I live in Phoenix. It's shitty, but I know at least it's not getting shittier. Also guns.

1. You pay mansion prices to rent a studio apartment the size of a closet

2. Jobs in New York City are few and far between (and again, those jobs have to be amazing to live there)

3. An increasingly large amount of New York is being given to Obama's sons or Hillary's banditos, meaning nowhere is safe

4. Four is the number of death

>5 running on the west side
I'll take things that never happened for 500

You got mugged because a criminal sized you up for the weak cowardly bitch you are

It's also the U.S center for crime, shitskins, angry people, and the scent of garbage.

You know there's something in-between a quiet, withdrawn country life, and one of the craziest, most bustling cities in the world right? NYC appeals to most people on paper, but that's hardly ever the case once they actually move there.
Also
>gay-liberation
I gave you too much credit on your shitposting game.

ayy 79/lex here

The difference is richfags.
If you are rich enough in a big city you do not have to interact with its seedier aspects ever.

nyc is one of the few american cities that is progressively getting whiter

bad thing is that they are mostly liberal faggots

Chicago is the center of crime desu

No, faggot. I got mugged because as a fit 6' tall guy, I was on a quiet street and some young punks had a handgun. Apparently they'd done about 20 muggings in a short time period before the cops caught them. As I see it, the problem is that they had such easy access to an unregistered gun. With no gun, the mugging wouldn't have happened.
