...

>Let's send the CO and XO into an extremely dangerous situation to capture a valuable asset instead of a whole fucking squad of redshirt marines

sounds like something Kirk would do

Kirk would take redshirts, though

How do you feel about shows that cinematically explain everything without saying a word but nonetheless have someone explain everything with a long exposition for all the mouth breathers in the audience?

Sounds like trek to me.

Yeah senior officers never leave the ship in Star Trek

HOW DID THAY FIND EM /std/?

Requesting the Star Trek tier list as a newbie.

depends on whether TOS ran out of money that week or not

First post best post

They the highest level characters

Reddit's official title is DISCO. Go there.

Samefag. /std/ has been official since announcement.

>Trigger discipline edition
More like TRIGGERED edition amirite

Will the show switch to episodic structure? S1 Teaser made it look like a continuing story arc.

This show was just filled with too many PEW PEWS and no cerebral awesome feel good experiences that I like the best about star trek.

It was just dark as fuck, I mean it's ok scifi but it's certainly not very good star trek. Also Alex Krutzman is a fucking liar, saying they would stick to canon.
Also why the fuck is just the captain and first officer boarding a fucking enemy klingon ship to try and capture one of them? That's just fucking bad writing. You'd think at the very least they would bring more people or at least not have the fucking captain go into a situation like that.

>STD
>Sexually Transmitted Disease

that would require someone in a Star Trek thread to have sex

This. Kirk would leave with a squad of Joes and he left based Scotty in charge. What the tranny and gook did was retarded

At least you got the title right for the general. Kudos.

it was always meant to be one long arc, that's how fuller described it since the beginning, and I doubt they changed that after he left

I'm really curious, do any of you guys actually think things are going to "settle down" and you're going to get classic episodic trek from discovery?

Calm down Cletus

This. STD is fucking hilarious. Can't stop laughing everytime I read it

A little of column A, a little of column B

The Klingon war will be the main serialized arc of the season, as well as whatever the fuck is wrong with the Discovery itself

Plus some stand alones (a Mirror Universe episode is already confirmed, for example)

Let's send two slim women alone to run a capture mission on a ship full of 300 lb hulking male Klingons.

Michael to encounter the RAPE GANGS in Federation prison next episode.

some people have caught it

picard would have taken them on alone and won like a baws.

I don't think knowledge of a mirror episode is proof of stand alone episodes, it could quite easily tie into the war

>So after all this time star trek is back on the air
>thats right Jay and this time its not going to be held back by Holodeck episodes Episodic seasons fun adventure and good messages
>wow sounds like we are getting a star trek show worthy like the jj movies
> thats right jay the REAL STAR TREK FANS LOOOOOOVEDDDD THOSE MOVIES
How long til we get a nerd crew about this shitty jj verse show

No we aren't going to get classic episodic trek from discovery, and that's just a damn shame.

It's how it is though, the fucking executives dont give a fuck about trek fans and what they want. They just want to try and cash in.

>people want to rape a tranny looking mulatto

I know it's prison but still.

yippie kai yay mother fucker

i know. it's based Seth MacFarlane humor

Too bad Vulcans are prudes. I wanted Michael to boldly sleep with lots of alien men.

well Rich hates it

reddit.com/r/RedLetterMedia/comments/72x4he/rich_evans_on_star_trek_discovery/

I don't know if that's true. I think maybe riker would have taken some people.

I was just watching an episode of TNG the other day where the ferengi found Picard's old ship, and before they even let their captain step aboard the ship they had to make sure it was safe.

You just reminded me that I should keep watching TNG. I wanna catch up and then start DS9 and then Voyager.

>Also why the fuck is just the captain and first officer boarding a fucking enemy klingon ship to try and capture one of them?
How did you get to the age of 18 with never watching a single episode of Star Trek?

Pinched him so hard he turned into a vulcan

>(a Mirror Universe episode is already confirmed, for example)
Is that the episode that they reveal the whole series has been in a mirror universe the whole time and that's why everyone is retarded?

Picard was pretty unique in that he actually delegated stuff

What this show needs is a good ol' Neelix to bring it all together.

>caring what youtubers think

brb checking to see who sargon of akkad says I'm supposed to vote for.

I'm a Trek fan and I don't want another fucking generic weekly episodic pile of shit. Voyager and Enterprise were enough of that crap, thanks.

I have watched Star Trek before. Usually they'd board a ship or go on some suspicious planet and a few red shirts would at least die first. Not really go alone too often.

Whew, now I can sleep easily knowing what redditlettermedia's opinion is

>picks the 2 worse series of 5 to say episodic contained episodes are bad
lol k

why didn't they licence mass effect and make a show about that instead of shitting up star trek even worse

Picard and Riker going over there would at least make sense. Not two tiny girls against an all male Klingon crew. I mean it's an interesting porn scenario but not a very good idea when you are attempting a vitally important kidnap mission to stop Intergalactic war by capturing a roided out Klingon warchief.

Dude TNG had amazing episodic content as well as TOS. It was like watching the fucking twilight zone in space and it was awesome.

I don't mind some story arcs here and there but the episodic format is one reason why star trek is as awesome as it is.

because mass effect sucks shit

VERY COOL >>>reddit

I'm a Trek fan and I do want episodic anomaly-of-the-week episodes that also have character development and thought provoking situations. I could do without long drawn out mopey story arcs (although two-part episodes are welcome). I also enjoyed x-files so there's that.

I think the miniarc concept from season 4 of enterprise is a good fit for a modern show

still they've already said the Klingon War is only for 1 season

God made sapient beings.
Steven Phaser made them equal.

Yeah there was no way they were going to catch one of those klingons. I think it was really dumb for them to even try.

Michael kept fucking up the entire time.

Well that's a check in STD's corner. Rich is a hilarious punchline but his taste is fucking horrendous.

Haha! He's right.

so does STD

I hate the Mirror Universe. It worked well on TOS as a one off thing but then somehow turned into this ridiculous thing we have to keep revisiting just to see what the (mostly) evil version of everyone is like. The only possible charm is in finding how strange it is for a character you care about to be the opposite. No one likes any of these characters anyway.
>We're trying to do something entirely new so cut us some slack on all the changes
>Back to the Mirror Universe well

Yeah I know. It's not like they both almost immediately engaged in hand to hand combat with Klingons warriors moments after beaming over resulting in one of them getting stabbed to death.

They're the last two shows made. And the last Trek tv to exist in the last *twenty years*

TNG also had extremely bad episodic content, and was running on fumes by the time they ended that show. The final season was approaching first season level bad and uneven.

The format is inherently outdated and with Trek in particular, done to fucking death.

dude episodic content is star trek.

I hope it's over soon. I also hope they have the normal klingons on there and just have them as some weird sect or something.

>still this butthurt
It's an abbreviation.

>dude episodic content is star trek.

not anymore.

>dude episodic content is star trek.

DS9 isn't Star Trek?

>We need to capture that Klingon alive. War between the federation and the empire resulting in millions of deaths hinges on the success of this mission. I have two six-man teams made up of our best trained security officers ready to transpo-
>Belay that order. We're only sending over two people. A five foot tall 60 year old Asian woman and a 110 lb mulatto girl with psychological issues

This is the only STD they'll ever get.

>dude episodic content is star trek.

Literally the only TV Trek that hasn't been shit since TNG ended was DS9 after it went war arc and Enterprise's third season

DSC works best for me. I'm also fine with STD because memes.

>Let's send two slim women alone to run a capture mission on a ship full of 300 lb hulking male Klingons.
They weren't all males. Also their ship was destroyed. Also it's been established that everyone else on the Shenzhou was a pussy/incapacitated.

>tranny looking
She has the most feminine face in all of Trek.

>I also enjoyed x-files so there's that.
It would be such a great example of being episodic if it wasn't for all the fucking episodes where a secluded team of researchers unearth an ancient and dangerous lifeform that's been dormant for millions of years

Casual fag here, but did they ever explain his appearance in that episode? Or were they simply different characters?

>>capture that Klingon alive

It's obvious STD writers are not Trekkies. Real Klingons would never surrender. If they are somehow captured alive, then they would suicide. They also treat dead bodies like garbage.

>the most feminine face in all of Trek

Simply different characters

...that's the point, they were trying to shame him

More like a check in Rich's corner. His taste is fucking awful, but he's absolutely right here.

I want to be MICHAEL'D

Why does it look like she has a really thick transparent-but-not-quite-invisible schlong here?

shadilay!

>that's the point, they were trying to shame him

That's a stupid point. Suicide is an honorable death for Klingons. Even is it wasn't, so what? An entire Federation fleet was destroyed. The war has already started. Peace was never an option.

they weren't going to let him commit suicide, or at least try not to - i mean, conceptually it makes sense.

if T'Kuvma was successfully captured and prevented from committing suicide it would destroy his movement. Michael fucked up though.

>wtf this show is bullshit women can't win against klingons in hand to hand combat
>I know, which is why they won using phasers
>but they were fighting klingons in hand to hand combat as soon as they got there and one of the women got stabbed to death therefore this show is saying women can take on klingon warriors in hand to hand combat and is thus bad!

They should have done an episode of Voyager with Picard facetiming in and spotting him in the background.

user, you're gay.

The guy was the symbol that united the Klingon Empire and they knew it.

They were going to parade him as a prize and shame the shit out of a people whose entire thing is Honor

Post-production editing effects weren't great back then. They switched her to the pantsuit to hide it later in the season.

>Suicide is an honorable death for Klingons.

no it's not. only if they're too injured/old/whatever to fight. memory-alpha.wikia.com/wiki/Hegh'bat

Klingon Honor is a hypocritical farce anyway. Cowardly bullshit like that what T'Kuvma did to the Europa is somehow "honorable"

The only actual honorable Klingon is Worf, and that's because humans brought him up to believe in an ideal that didn't really exist

> that's because humans brought him up.
FTFYF

Worf was the best Klingon because he was raised by humans in the Federation. Everything is better when it's done by humans in the Federation. That's the entire point of Star Trek.

...

>weren't going to let him commit suicide
>let

You assume it was their choice. The klingons with guns, swords and warships would contest that.

>conceptually it makes sense

It didn't make sense in any way, shape or form. It's just cowardly Starfleet still begging for peace after the klingons blew up an entire Federation fleet.

lol

Option A, he killed a member of Starlfeet and wears the badge as a trophy.

Option B, he is the worst spy in history.

It's the Captain's badge.

>Klingon Honor is a hypocritical farce anyway.

don't even have to bring up T'Kuvma. using cloaking devices at all is dirty Romulan-style treachery but they don't seem to have a problem with that.

She's a short-haired, not very feminine character whose features are not, shall we say "classically beautiful" (this is code) with a male name.

I don't judge what you are into in the slightest, but if you think not lusting after this character is "gay" you may be confused about a few things. Just be honest with yourself.
