as non-american and growing up with the golden age simpsons, i have always thought krusty was the essential side character in the show, to me and my friends he was the unsung hero of the cartoon, the embodiment of what made the show so popular and great, he basically tied the whole show together, like he was 1a and burns was 1b (or a very close 2). but then on internet i found out he's actually not that popular: skinner, burns, nelson, millhouse, apu etc. were all more popular. is is simply the matter of plebs/patricians or the fact the simpsons have been terrible for 15+ years now?

The weird thing about this show is Krusty is obviously a jewish clown and yet all the other characters frequently use jewish phrases and wordings. It's a funny concept.
