Drama can work in the wacky space adventures too. The Jerry episode in s3 wasn't terrible, and the episode where Rick gets depressed with his hivemind gf is memorable. But instead of working drama into the stories, they make it the focus like the show is bojak horseman across the multiverse. Space hijinks with a little bit of drama, instead of mediocre drama disguised by space adventures.
