>year 2017 >STILL not even one half-baked okay adaptation of this
I'm super furious Everything is either shit or boring or completely misses the point Imagine the fucking possibilities Millions of interesting concepts and storylines are already invented for you Just add agent characters and name them It doesn't even need very high budget
I think Torchwood was the closest to that vibe just because it actually did urban legends and had memorable experts But everything else is extremely boring
Maybe it just works better in this format. You dont often just slap characters a name and call it a story.
Xavier Clark
The whole concept of SCP only appeals to shut-ins with too much imagination and no friends. Pass.
Ryder James
Fanfics about O5-s and agents and their lifes are becoming more and more popular in SCP community.
Elijah Ward
I used to like SCP. I remember it started with that videogame with the noclipping monster.
Too bad it's underage Reddit bait these days.
Jaxson Stewart
No it fucking didn't you goddamn idiot It started on /x/ you fucking newfaggot
James Fisher
we're getting a containment breach short film
Anthony Reed
watch cabin in the woods
Anthony Hernandez
no u
Noah Sanders
Just as an experiment, I hit the 'random SCP' button 5 times and got these
>scp-2382 A box but when you open it you get taken to some room filled with art (????) then you go blind or something
>scp-3072 A ticker tape machine that prints random messages
>scp-1879 Spooky door to door salesman
>scp-208 An egyptian guy with healing powers
>scp-2462 A plant that multiplies itself
Wow this is some amazing stuff, I can really see the SCPCU coming together nicely
Nolan Murphy
Yeah but just because something has popularity doesnt mean its good. Twilight has a fanfic thats now a multimillion dollar industry unto itself with Beyonce putting songs on the soundtrack. This in no way makes Twilight or its related properties good tho.
Jose Ramirez
Wow so what you were you trying to say once again
Austin Rivera
I was saying that most of them are random objects that have supernatural effects but I guess I was proven wrong. They're actually more boring than that
Matthew Mitchell
You can use them together They can go out of control You can build your narrative on 'active' objects or incidents and use these objects as a side-thing which adds up USE YOur brain
Jason Lewis
Hes probably trying to say that 90% of everything is shit, SCP isn't any exception, but because most people have only read the 10% that isn't shit, they think the other 90% must also be brilliant
Jose James
they already made lost room though.
Joshua Ramirez
The good SCP's are REALLY good. The bad ones are plain shit.
The one with the cave leading into a parallel world where everything has died is top tier.
Josiah Martinez
rec scp kino
Ethan Brown
That's what I'm talking about
Bentley Howard
093 boyz REPRESENT.
Kevin Perez
moar pls
Carter Jenkins
It used to be good, but then it got taken over by tumblr, rebbit and deviantart users inserting their OC donutsteels
John Fisher
What was that one where they went up an elevator to a parallel world with a giant crucifix on the horizon or something?
Matthew Hill
The vending machine one is pretty cool
Luis Ross
One of the best SCP authors who did that one article about the VHS tape on the alternate univese NBA game got banned just because he complained that SCP was becoming a tumblr hugbox Fuck them
Luke Stewart
>Twilight has a fanfic thats now a multimillion dollar industry unto itself with Beyonce putting songs on the soundtrack. Wait, what?
Ethan Gray
Would it be able to use the SCP name, or would it have to be called something else? I know it's sooort of open source collaboration, but it's probably owned n copyrighted by one guy, yeah?
Carter Gonzalez
The one with the red disc that transports you to that world where a theocratic society lost to big shambling horrors and it's all abandoned and bombed out now was some fantastic writing That kind of atmosphere would work great for one of Neil Blomfkamp's small production company to do a thirty minute short about
Michael Cooper
Fifty shades of gray is unironically originally a twilight fanfic No memes, that's the honest truth
Jeremiah Myers
50 Shades of Grey started as a Twilight fanfic, just with altered names and I -think- without actually having vampires and werewolves
John Watson
>and no friends. how can you stand to be friends with people in this day and age ever since current year, people have been overwhelmingly shit
Asher Murphy
which one?
Josiah Cox
>scp 108 A black woman with a Nazi bunker inside her nose lmao
>scp 098 Literally just a slightly more dangerous crab
>scp 1390 This one started interesting, instead of an object it's a form of language with supernatural properties. But then all it does is make you go crazy when you start learning it
>scp 620 A clock that makes you percieve the passage of time differently, I quite like this one, but then at the end it turns back into 'everyone around it goes CRAZY'
>scp 2740 Something spooky in the attic, it's so spooky that everyone is too spooked to go in there and find out what it is
They really just get worse and worse. Where do you guys find the good ones?
Jackson Long
I like reading them because I have way too much time on my hands and i'm into spooky stuff but honestly 3/4 of them are shit and so many of the concepts have already been done elsewhere.
That being said the ones that are cool are really cool. I'd love seeing an episode based on that 1800's robot that looks and acts like a human and is made entirely of gears. Or that big underwater monster that destroys a bunch of submarines
Justin Taylor
>1800's robot that looks and acts like a human and is made entirely of gears. That could be made into a really dramatic story of a man living through centuries and trying to understand himself.
>Or that big underwater monster that destroys a bunch of submarines Could be cool action episode with blurry monster which always escapes.
Owen Johnson
Are y'all talking about the same one? Do you have the numbers? Id like to read them
Bentley Ortiz
aside from the other good ones already mentioned scp-wiki.net/scp-3008 could work as a surreal survival-horror miniseries
Bentley Myers
>then [REDACTED] [REDACTED] [REDACTED]' lol you don't have clearance?
Andrew Foster
this site is dumb. scp is dumb. and it also wouldn't work as a movie, because every SCP article is specifically mentioned to be independent of every other article.
Chase Cooper
it's basically impossible to read just the good ones, as originally there were a lot of huge gaps between the numbers that only got filled in as time went on. Filled in with shit.
All the good ones are literally buried under a mountain of shit.
Liam Lewis
99% of SCP's are shit
Even notable ones like 682 are just a way for retarded faggots to try and 1 up each other with how powerful and mysterious their SCP is.
Seriously, read some of it and how dumb it is.
Andrew Bailey
ever heard of antology series? ever heard of SCP stories (fanfics) which use different object and actually tell a great and compelling story?
Dylan Miller
there's a few series of relating objects and stories that are pretty good
check out the anti-memetics, that's some high quality mindfuck
Adrian Collins
somebody made a game for this called containment breach; that's about the only scenario I could think of that would make a decent movie.
Also, the cabin in the woods is kinda this
Parker Wood
cabin in the woods is basically the foundation, if it was run by idiots which is one of the problems with adapting it, all the personnel are supposed to already be the top of their profession before they even get an invitation, it's hard to consistently write a cast like that
Brayden Hall
I don't care for the scary ones but I actually really like the "cute" ones.
Josiah Foster
SCP-093, the best one there is.
Josiah Campbell
Somebody needs to make anew adaptation of CASE: COLORLESS GREEN. There is such potential in that series.
Jackson Russell
What is the deal with this one?
Sebastian Sanchez
Everything about it can only be expressed in pictograms
Jackson Kelly
Thanks
Christian Butler
it isn't as good without the added story of that researcher though
Caleb Harris
Silly project. SCP is already a great experience on itself well, the best parts of it are to be accurate. With some rare, anecdotal exceptions, nothing could translate the general atmosphere of paranoia as well as the wiki and its content - mostly because a huge chunk of the content was made with the wiki in mind. Nobody would successfully translate Beethoven's 5th symphony or whatever music/album you consider a master piece, shit, I don't browse Sup Forums into a movie
it's a bit like the candlejack me
Blake Wright
>it's basically impossible to read just the good ones
Just look up the highest rated articles.
Dominic Reyes
>I'd love seeing an episode based on that 1800's robot that looks and acts like a human and is made entirely of gears dr who did this >Or that big underwater monster that destroys a bunch of submarines very lovecraftian
>Go upvote some more faggy reddit shit you queers Was he /ourguy/?
Tyler Moore
There's way too many authors for that to work
Noah Martin
All these silly little ones seem like good background/flavor. The movies would focus on agents investigating maybe one or two of the more interesting and scary ones. It's not like they have to do every one in order or something.
ffs this shit writes itself >Frank works at SCP facility >movie starts with him voiceover narrating the procedure of cleaning out the container of SCP-173 >Frank has trouble at home because his wife is unsatisfied and he can't talk much about work >new president is voted >he's known to not be a friend of the SCP project >wants to make it public >also starts cutting costs >eventually some dangerous SCP is let loose >starts wreaking havoc >Frank has to learn to think further than just standard operating procedure >has to save his wife who learns to appreciate him >president understands how important it is to keep SCP funded and hidden >life goes on >ends with Frank voiceover narrating procedure again
And that I just pulled out my ass right now in 2 minutes. Give me a week and I'll flesh it out as a full synopsis. How can anyone say this wouldn't be a decent movie?
>>Frank has trouble at home because his wife is unsatisfied and he can't talk much about work Class-D's clean its chambers and they are death row inmates
Joseph Green
and clones
Jackson Baker
You can't. All it has is highest rated new (all are shit) and lowest rated.
Cameron Sullivan
just watch Fringe
Liam Jenkins
A movie about the pipes building directed like 127 Hours with James Franco, focusing on the journey of the man that falls in one of the pipes and continues falling for several days before his skin starts tearing off from the friction.
Cooper Flores
>read a few of the first ones of these a while back >get spooked >start reading some of the newer ones >a literal meme face is one of the SCPs what the fuck happened to quality control
Lincoln Taylor
hugbox
Kayden Turner
>literal meme face lmao which one is that
Henry Cruz
Post your favorite SCP. I want to read the good ones but no way am I looking through thousands of shitty ones
Zachary Turner
This.
They were genuinely interesting and creative back when it was first starting. Now it's on the same level as Slender Man.
Isaiah Martin
link to meme face SCP? I just saw an SCP that was the "we are number one" meme in the 3000's
Grayson Evans
they aren't dated, the numbers aren't sequential, and you can't just search for the highest rated ones.
So its just about impossible find decent ones.
Thomas Thompson
desu slender man was scary, especially during Marble Hornets and the early days of EverymanHYBRID (before it went retarded)
I miss ARG's
Lucas Rogers
's robot that looks and acts like a human and is made entirely of gears. >That could be made into a really dramatic story of a man living through centuries and trying to understand himself. >that SCP that infects you with a clockwork disease that replaces you from the inside out with clockwork machinery There are some neat ones. I'm pretty sure you can filter the list by most commented, highest rated, most viewed, and featured articles as just reading through them in order is a terrible idea.
Jace Fisher
>all the personnel are supposed to already be the top of their profession before they even get an invitation, it's hard to consistently write a cast like that The problem is that even these experts are hilariously out of their depth and file most of it under "fucked if I know." And for all the experts there are still plenty of asshole middlemen, security forces, administration, and d-class persons to have enough relatable "every man" type characters.
>they are death row inmates Sometimes. If you add up all the d class personnel across even the main articles that exist in the same universe they need more than we have death row inmates in the world. LIke said clones. It's also stated that the criteria for d-classification is pretty fluid, foundation staff who fuck up can get demoted to d-class.
Class D personnel are expendable personnel used to handle extremely hazardous anomalies and are not allowed to come into contact with Class A or Class B personnel. Class D personnel are typically drawn worldwide from the ranks of prison inmates convicted of violent crimes, especially those on death row. In times of duress, Protocol 12 may be enacted, which allows recruitment from other sources — such as political prisoners, refugee populations, and other civilian sources — that can be transferred into Foundation custody under plausibly deniable circumstances. Class D personnel are to be given regular mandatory psychiatric evaluations and are to be administered an amnestic of at least Class B strength or terminated at the end of the month at the discretion of on-site security or medical staff. In the event of a catastrophic site event, Class D personnel are to be terminated immediately except as deemed necessary by on-site security personnel.
Justin Rodriguez
yeah, I'm pissed too. why hasn't hollywood adapted a wiki of stories published under a license stating you can't use the works for profit?
Lucas Sullivan
>implying if I wasn't one of the contributors to the site i wouldn't sell my idea for mon mons
Michael Williams
What the fuck. How is this not a SCP-J?
Luis Reed
For extra fun check out the discussion page for it.
Ian Edwards
Jesus fucking Christ this thread.
First of all, OP is a thumb sucking retard. "Not even one adaptation." What the fuck is Cabin in the Woods then? Crawl back into your basement.
And then you have this host of neckbeards who think SCP is shit altogether because they're hitting the "random article" button a couple times. Do you fucking walk into a library, pick up a book at random, then give up on reading when your random book is mediocre? If you're going to be a quality bitch then stick to the Top Rated pages.
Jack Morgan
Item #: SCP-2521
>Laconic Containment Procedures: Do not write or speak about SCP-2521. Communicate about SCP-2521 via pictograms. Only Level 4 and above personnel may know about SCP-2521.
>Laconic Description: A humanoid being that can pass through walls and cannot understand picture-based information. Word-based communication about the entity catches its attention, and drives it to appear and take the source of the communication away. Notably, it is depicted as affectionate rather than hostile, hinting that it might be "collecting" said people and things out of appreciation.
Leo Edwards
LOL it was written by a couple of trannys and everyone is virtue signalling over it rather than actually critiquing it for being shit. Fucking liberals.
Elijah Ortiz
Jesus Christ. Apparently it's even too much to ask to have a niche site for creepy horror stories without these freaks infecting it with their bullshit.
