Putin and Iran have a relationship to maintain their respective GDP and keep the US and Saudis from creating a monopoly on Oil reserves. We (U.S. ) want to create the syrian pipeline that goes into Europe from Saudi Arabia, this would kill Iran and Russia's oil export. Sending all the Saudi Oil directly to Europe would drastically change the make-up of the middle east - It is literally why we fund ISIS and syrian rebels, we need to overthrow Syria and Assad to create this pipeline.

TL;DR U.S. and saudis want pipeline into Europe, Iran and Russia are teaming up and saying no fuck that it will destroy our economy.
