prob not unless its 3.5 hrs long MINIMUM
>copy original movie
>add count fenring
>make proper ending

its that easy. the problem with the movie is that the ending is gimped out. the fan cuts add the deleted scenes and make the finale better

Movie adaptions will always be terrible because literature will always be better.

>doubting Denis

this is your one shot hollywood
dont fuck this up or you will lose this costumer forever

Now I hope they fuck it up.

IMO he should just adapt God Emperor of Dune and then have the first 3 books as flashbacks. We have already seen the first movie adapted twice so why do the same thing again?

4>2>1>3 POWER GAP 5>6 POWER GAP Anything his son touched

>baron kills Leto
>Leto 2 the worm crawls out of his corpse and eats the Harkonnens
>teleports to Dune
>absorbs Paul into his skin
>Gurney pulls out his guitar and plays snake charmer music
>Gurney rules the universe

Literally the only way Dune can be condensed into a single movie.

>this costumer
Post costume.

...

wtf. we need at least 3 movies for the main character backstories then you can go all in with a quipfest. LaVerne Cox as Paul

I wouldn't have the first power gap because it lessens the magnitude of the second power gap. Otherwise, that's the correct ranking.

r8 my cast bros.
It's got aging old stars, meme actors of the years, feminists icons, gender bender and some up-and-coming models - everything you need for a shitty adaptation.

Lady Jessica - Blanchett
Shaddam IV - Titus Welliver
Thurif Hawt - Michael Cocaine
Gurney Halleck - Joe Pesci
Duncan Idaho - Eric Bana
Leto Atreides - Theroux
Paul Atreides - Dane DeHaan
Feyd - Hayden Christensen
Yueh - Adam Driver
Princess Irulan - Brieee
Baron Vlad - Lena Dunham
Rabban - Amy Schumer
Piter de Vries - Jim Carrey
Stilgar - Viggo
Chani - Sara Sampaio
Reverend Mother Mohiam - Melissa McCarthy

2/0

>cast
>when strong direction and editing determines 90% of quality

Dune/Messiah: Villeneuve/Deakins
Children/God-Emperor: Miller/Seale

Just give them the Palme D'or already

The 80's one is pretty good,
>dose 80's fx
>calm and comfy tempo (whispering)
>a bit hoakey like sci fi can be and still be good

>cast arabs/south Asians as Fremen because, duh, desert culture with a resource civilization depends on
>harkonnens all natural gingers
>find a clever way to convey thoughts other than echoey dialogue
>get GOT's linguists and coaches to make the made up languages sound authentic
>attractive iberian looking twink as paul

lynch has nothing on villenueve, who is the new kubrick btw

Holy shit such shit taste.
1>every fucking thing else by a texas mile> power gap> anything the son did.
Dune is a self contained story. Everything that cane after is epilogue.

>Gurney Halleck - Joe Pesci
>Rabban - Amy Schumer
aww yiss. also Theroux should be Paul, since he's the soft-spoken introvert. Is Theroux even a parent?

Yes, if
>cast arabs/south Asians as Fremen because, duh, desert culture with a resource civilization depends on
>harkonnens all natural gingers
>asian yueh
>find a clever way to convey thoughts other than echoey dialogue
>get GOT's linguists and coaches to make the made up languages sound authentic
>attractive iberian looking twink as paul

>Implying the Lynch version isn't perfect

>all thesee white people
WOW

JUST WOW

u wot? Dune plus Messiah were written as one story. Herbert used a duology format. He wanted the first book to be 800 pages long but his publisher wanted to see how profitable it was as a regular dimestore novel first.

Viggo Mortenson would be an awesome Stilgar. I always like seeing your hypothetical casts TV, please post more guys.

dehaan is no match to prime kyle. frankly, no one of today's young actors is.

When you read the novel, did you really imagine Stilgar the badass Injun chief looking like a blonde, cleft-chinned Dane god? Viggo doesn't even look the part, he'd be better as Leto

You want to sell the blind messianic ending in one package? Nope.
For whatever reason Dune works better than any other collection of Herbert's stories.

Does it have sick riffs tho?

how about Radcliffe

Kyle looked old for the role, Questionoftheday guy looks like he's 15. Paul was +/- 15 in the novel.

Sell what now? You've a kikey way of speaking for someone making judgements on an esthetic level. It's Herbert intended vision that Dune and Messiah is one self-contained story, straight-up contradicting your impression that you made for lol whatever reason.

ugly manlet desu

>inb4 its an adaption of his sons book focusing on the amazons and bitch gesserit

Pretty nice looking future, eh?

The entire point of the Dune series is God Emperor though.

>Feyd - Hayden Christensen
>Princess Irulan - Brieee
They're too old. Irulan is also meant to be blonde with green eyes.

>casting anything but sting as Feyd

Maybe a big budget miniseries is a better adaptation than a single film.

I really wanted HBO to pick it up after their golden goose GoT is over...

I doubt it, plebs are gonna shout "dis be GoT but in space" and it'll fail. Maybe SyFy can do it

Haha no

If they do it right it'll make that channel great again

The Magicians has already made it great again.

>try to make Dune kino over and over
>fail because it's actually a boring story thanks to its whole plot revolving around who can supposedly see the next 10000 years better
>still won't even make a Whipping Star miniseries

Didnt they do it ready?

Already*

Robot - Empire - Foundation series when?

Orson Welles
McJagger
Salvador daily
Pink Floyd

Lynch's Dune film is good

Bookplebs won't admit it

>Bookplebs won't admit it
It's 'bookplebs' that like the film you mouth-breathing redditor. People who hadn't read the books couldn't follow what was happening.
Even Lynch knows it's shit - because he's tried to take his name off the DVDs.

Louis C.K as Vladimir Harkonnen

The only good think about Dune was Dune 2, the game

Indeed

Wrong on all accounts.
Also wrong. Frank kept writing after Messiah because of money. But I do think that God Emperor is the best book in the series, yes.

>the fan cuts add the forty minute long intro drawn in crayon with a blurry voiceover to put you to sleep before any actual cinematography happens

fypfy

don't suggest this, or Kevin J Anderson will come crawling out of the woodwork, waving the shitty prequels he wrote.

>>find a clever way to convey thoughts other than echoey dialogue

how about animated speech balloons done in comic sans? they could be different colors to show who's thinking!

>Dune Messiah better than Dune

>that part where you kill a woman by asphyxiation with you dick

> shoves "weirding module" up your ass so far that the sound comes out of your nostrils

did you say something?

>For whatever reason Dune works better than any other collection of Herbert's stories.

*ahem*
intense political power struggle with immortality/body stealing sub-plot and implied frog sex coming through

>love the band Rush
>bassist Geddy Lee is bff with Kevin J Anderson
Not sure how to feel about this

>>still won't even make a Whipping Star miniseries

insufficient connectives on this wave

It is such a shitty show though. It's literally gay Narnia.

you can't blame a band for the opinions of its asshole bassist. trrrrust me.

Why did Brian Herbert tarnish the works of his father?

I thought weirding is supposed to be CQC based on twisting enemies bodies. How did Lynch go from that to autistic screech guns?

It's Narnia with murderous magicians and mass-raping Gods - what's not to love?

I read a foreword by him from one of the reprints of Dune and he describes his father as 'the most interesting person in the room' and other such praise yet it's clear he was unhappy that Frank had spent so much time with the books and the world he was creating. I think he felt a great deal of inferiority both to his father and also to Paul in some ways. I get the impression he truly feels that writing those garbage spin-offs was a testament to his father and in doing so he was honoring his memory and proving his own worth. Sad, really.

> will there finally be a quality adaption of dune?

I doubt it.

Hollywood no longer actually adapts novels, they simply loot the book for the title character and a few scenes while shitcanning the original story, replacing it with their own shitty storyline that’s based on marketing dept. polling data.

It doesn’t really matter which director is in charge, as the script is decided upon by the studio executives, who are just mouse pushing shekel shufflers without a lick of artistic talent.

>Duncan Idaho - Eric Bana
