The difference is to the audience. Would it have been fine if she'd started quoting Dr Seuss? What about if she was reading Trump tweets? Or Sup Forums posts?

> making a new thread that early
This isn't /ptg/ you fucking idiot

Also fuck off anyone who's calling it DIS, it's STD and you're fucking autistic

...

REAL THREAD

>Star Trek Diversity has a general

the quality of the show will determine its name and right now STD seems very apt.

I honestly like the show, it's been a true surprise because of all the anti-SJW bashing and proving that shit behind the scenes doesn't necessarily mean the finished product is guaranteed trash, but I will continue calling it STD.

Fuck off

VOY

Reminder that quoting Tennyson matches Bashir and O'Brien's characters built up over several seasons of them enjoying the holodeck, classic literature and history, etc. The poem they quote, The Charge of the Light Brigade, also fits the scene as they are in a war scenario in danger of being outflanked and outgunned by the Dominion.

It isn't a girl we barely know quoting a play aimed at tumblrinas because a giant tardigrade is chasing her in a Jefferies tube

ADHD

McCoy, Spock and Spock's mom are all adults who enjoy reading Alice in Wonderland as adults, according to TOS and TAS.

Why are they able to do that whereas you feel your own maturity threatened by it?

none of the other shows have Star Trek (STD) in the abbreviations.

this is the real general

>quoting a play aimed at tumblrinas
>Alice in Wonderland is a play
>Lewis Carrol wrote it for Tumblr
user, I

>quoting a play
>a play
>play
Delete your posts and stop complaining.

It's a TAS reference anyway. Why haven't you watched TAS yet?

Nice post friend, enjoy your upboat

If she started reading Trump tweets I would've died. That'd be fucking fantastic.

TAS is not canon.

Stop trying to force it to being DIS, you god damn fucking idiot

>STD

Is this a based Star Trek DeepSpace9 thread?

DO IT FOR HER

>Correct abbreviation
>Forced

Don't think so sweetie

>5 different threads up

This is the most active, I'm staying put.

According to Gene, the TOS movies after TMP aren't canon.

I'm just going to ignore Gene and you should too.

Anybody notice the old guy didn't get involved in the fight?

Thought they might do something with him but NOPE JUST THROW HIM ON THE SHIP

The movies after TMP are mostly action flicks aimed at morons, so it makes sense.

The fact is anything that lasts long enough will eventually morph to become somewhat unrecognizable. It already happened before Discovery was planned, and making it a prequel guaranteed it would end up more like Nutrek. Not only that, but all the old guard is dead or moved on to other things. So the idea that Discovery would, could, or should fit the tone of the TNG era isn't rational. TNG era itself was a big departure from what came before. It was never going to fit that. It was never going to respect continuity. It was never going to maintain some New Deal holdover optimistic spirit. For good or bad that's all gone. It was always going to be gritty 'reimagined' schlock. We all knew it.

I'm watching now out of curiosity and because I like space shit. There won't be any spiritual successor until someone with enough vision can convince a studio to take a risk. An aging franchise associated with the #1 tv network in the US has no interest in taking risks.

So why not stop worrying about it fitting the original vision of Star Trek? In 5 or 10 years once it's out there and the controversy has died down perceptions of the show are going to flip anyway. Might as well just go along for the ride now.

We don't live in a culture that respects or tries to maintain any semblance of the past. Why do we think a business venture would rise above that?

>captain is based
>first officer is based
>michael is a mary sue but at least she's hot
>violence is up because not on network tv
>decent action
>decent visual effects
>practical ship designs
>still has Star Trek vibe
>no SJW propaganda
>Klingons are Radical Islamists not Trump Supporters
>get DS9 vibes from this while TNG from Orville and Voyager from The Expanse
>best tv scifi era in a long time

Sup Forums pls stop this and just enjoy /trek/

>correct abbreviation
Accordingst'veth'd to whomnd've'rdth

I liked the latest episode. Amazing? No. Good? Yup. I think this series has potential, though I must admit it's certainly not the Trek of old. I can't see something like TNG lasting more than a season nowadays.

why didnt they ever bring up the spore drive again

like 100 years later when janeway could have used it to go home

The more they reject it the more it's gonna stick.

I literally, genuinely get disoriented watching the constant dutch angles. I can't make it halfway through the first episode.

I am enjoying it, mostly.

Go fuck yourself, it was STD before airing and it's STD after airing.
CBS executives can suck my flaccid cock

>Voyager from The Expanse

What show are you watching? Expanse is more like DS9 and BSG. This is like BSG and Nutrek.

I agree with most of the rest though. Captain is on point.

Maybe on Sup Forums but other sites call it DIS or DSC

Game of thrones is over kids its time to return to reddit

>michael
>hot
Boring looking more like

Excuse me sweetie but you don't get to choose the abbreviations and neither do your employers at CBS.

Reminder that only shills call it anything but std

fuck off loser

This is officially the shitposting thread.

This thread is for waifu posting:
This thread is for discussion:

>remember what the doormouse said/ feed your head
Would be more in character for a human trying to act vulcan.
You either die a hero or live long enough to see yourself become the villain

This is my only gripe, that camera technique is absolute cancer and looks tacky as fuck.

Reported for spamming, sweetie :)

Lol kys

>TOS
>TNG
>VOY
>DS9
>ENT

lol

Holy fuck stop crying and spamming

It's funny, chill out. It literally doesn't matter.

so how exactly are Klingons related to Xenomorphs?

>You were warned for this post.
Jannies have gone absolutely mad recently

STD, you autistic fucking troglodyte

Fuck off CBS shill. It's

STTOS
STTNG
STDS9
STVOY
STENT

Not a valid nitpick.

Janeway could have gone home in the episode Threshold after the EMH discovered a cure for hyper-evolution.

there is no science behind it you tool the community picks what they want on a whim.

> It literally doesn't matter.

So why do you guys get so triggered at people who call it DIS?

TOS
TAS
TNG
DS9
VOY
DIS

>LOL I'm quirky! I have allergies and aspergers. BUT IM TOUGH when it comes down to it!

a character worse than Neelix? her first scene was like being hit over the head with a horrible pandering stereotype

Is this bait? Literally nobody has ever used any one of those acronyms you listed.

I don't. I get triggered at people that whine about what it's called. Calm down, kid.

ST
TNG
DS9
VOY
ENT
STD

Did you guys know, people actually get paid to write this slop..

best Pepe ever.

Neelix wasn't bad.

Clearly some people are and CBS doesn't like it, as seen in the OP pic
Or did you mean to reply to the guy below me

REEERR IT'S STD. GET SOME SENSE OF HUMOR

STD= SEXUAL TRANSMITTED DISEASE

She's such a painfully obvious "wow look at far I've come from that annoying insecure babby, I'm a stronk veteran now" trope.

I'm okay with it tho, it's a classic Star Trek plot device. Feels comfy.

>ORI
>ANI
>NEX

>DIS
There we go.

It literally happens in the space of a few minutes though.

Who will be her O'Brien?

Dick Daystrom is 37 in Discovery timeline. He's already won the Nobel Prize for inventing the duotronic comp.

I want to see them approach him to create new Klingon-Killer torps or some shit, but he refuses on principle and sets to work creating the M-5 so that horrendous mishaps like the Battle at the Binary Stars doesnt happen again due to organic-lifeform error.

nope. i masturbate while wearing a starfleet uniform so i know my stuff.

Is it weird that I don't even notice it by episode 2? It was annoying in the first ep.
That is a much better description, I just got the Voyager vibe more than BSG but that makes more sense.
Maybe, but I'm giving her a chance now that she's starting to warm up to her autistic roommate.

Does anyone have any thoughts on the tribble on Captain Edgy's desk?

Worf says that the tribbles were a major enemy of the Klingon people and they fought a war to try to eradicate them. Think they're guna tie that into the plot at all?

>mfw when I negotiate an armistice with the klingons but their fleet admiral refuses to take one of my fortune cookies

their sister married a xenos cousin

TRIBBLE BIOWEAPON

They're going to end the war by inflicting Tribbles on the Klingon empire.

Screenshot this.

lol

I mean most likely Michael, but possibly one of the prison ship people (if they bring them back at some point), someone we haven't seen yet, or the bitchy scientist.

This series is going to be a borefest of super grimdark bullshit isnt it?

The best part about previous Star Treks is they weren't scared to get silly and have an episode with Rumpelstiltskin, The Rock wrestling Harry Kim, or Data playing dice in a 20th century casino

saru will use the tribble for toilet paper

youtube.com/watch?v=qCiRnmkt9RU

Did they know what tribbles were during the Trouble with Tribbles episode?

For some reason I think they didn't

Of course, when do you think Worf said they were a Klingon enemy?

Phlox owned Tribbles in Enterprise. People already knew about them.

It's very possible that the war will be over by the end of the season. If so, there's a chance we'll get more exploration.

But yeah probably it's going to always be grimdark

I really hope not. But then again it was supposed to be a different ship every season

Klingon spy detector

This scene still annoys me

He saw the video feed over subspace.

It should.

>hey Tuvok we're in a bit of a fix here, can you just call the Federation and let them know we're still alive but it's guna be a while before we get home

Interstellar mind melds were created by Enterprise.

This one wasn't the mind meld scene. They were communicating via hologram (which wasn't created until DS9, but that's no big deal).

Apparently a bunch of planets saw the klingon ship turn on its headlights immediately, disregarding the speed of light.

Just as an aside, is there anything else worth watching on CBS All Access? I can use it's live tv function to watch Colbert, but what else is there?

>disregarding the speed of light.
The Klingon beacon is also a subspace transmission.
