What happened was a different sort of shift. Originally, they were trying to ingratiate themselves with American culture, to establish a foothold here, to put on whiteface and play white. But today we see that is no longer so.

Seriously though, that pretty much is the premise of the show but I enjoy watching it. They had some solid actors and some of the strangers had good stories to them.
All I'm saying is that it gets stale after awhile. There's a pretty predictable formula to the show.
have gun will travel was better, the asian guy's name was heyboy. as in "heyboy, get me something to drink". guy was suave and went anywhere, out thought people, saved the day with his mind and his gun (if necessary) and he would quote literature. all around a pretty fun show.
