Event Horizon was thoroughly enjoyable for me especially considering when it was released

Sunshine is memorable from start to finish, Event Horizon just gets remembered for HELL LMAO and NO EYES LMAO. And the black dude, I guess.

Good movie with a great score. It turns into an Event Horizon knock off in the last 3rd though. If you like 28 Days Later (same writer and director as Sunshine) you should like it.

Awful third act. The actual embodiment of the "smart people making bad decisions" trope.

The quality is all over the place, too.
Strong first part, I have really fond memories of it. It spooked me in the best way possible. At the end it goes full retard, though.

Im with the "various religious concepts" interpretation of the crew.

In the end the naive, childlike believer overcomes the religious zealot, Kappas death is so loaded with semi-religious imagery (bathing in the glory of god) that its hard to argue that this was not the intention of the director.

I don't see that much of a problem of the "third act"
in fact I think segmenting movies like this and then judging each part is very dumb and very much misses the point of film
The movie is great in my book, since it is unique and hasn't been surpassed by anything similar

The "third act" criticism is really common, and pretty lazy, but I'm happy to ignore any issues with it because it contains the kappas jump scene
